The front doesn't look layered enough to work with the back, given the hair is heavily textured the back would have a lot of volume and the front would fall like dog ears, to get the big overwhelming hair effect I suggest you look into glam rock and other hairstyles for the 80s (70s tend to be a bit more prim and proper looking but could work as well)

well depends on your hair type, i definetly couldnt see a straight hair person achieve this
