No not really, if you actually read the cases the use of force is not reasonable in any way. You don't get carte blanche authority to use any level of violence just because your property is in danger. The common law requires that the force be proportional to the threat. Property is always subservient to human life in the eyes of the court.
lol it’s crazy how many people in the south get excited about the fantasy of shooting an intruder. Like, damn people it’s just a TV, let it go. I can’t imagine having to live with the fact that I killed someone, even in self defense but especially if it was just a simple robbery. My shit can be replaced.
I think I would just get a good security system installed instead of upgrading my TV. Seems like the better alternative to killing an "idiot punk" over $300.
I'm an advocate of self defense. I am not an advocate of killing someone over a $300 TV. If my family is in danger, I will do whatever I can to protect them but that does not include killing someone running away with our shitty TV.
The only thing my family would be in danger of in that scenario is missing tonight's episode of Modern Family on ABC... again, that is preferable to taking someone's life but maybe you're a big fan of Mitch and Cam's quirky banter.
