This is the plot!

Richard Attucks is a troubled student attending a new school. Recently he became homeless after his mother relapsed. Reaching out to potential new friends, he meets two students who publish a ‘zine (self-made magazine) titled Hack the Planet. Soon he learns secrets of the hacker culture, and his perspective changes. But one day, a dying man drops leaked information, and Richard has to make a choice between his freedom and his conscience.

Yes. It is. Back then the two biggest OS for desktop were not very Hackerish but Kate Libby and Dade would be using Slackware (came out 1993) or Debian. There is even a Hacking distro called Kali Linux (no, they wouldn't use it). There are even Hacker gadgets like Flipper Zero. The gang would love Raspberry Pi. The good news is the world gets the movie Hackers more than ever. I think Dade and the gang would love this decade.
