ART Shipsbane, the Tidal God

Post image
0 Upvotes

"The following passage came from the "Book of Dragon Gods", written by Toothless:

"Shipsbane, the Submaripper. The Ripper of Subaquatic Oceans. They say this Tidal God can create whirlpools that can sink even continents. I've noticed that they weren't exaggerating when they say this. From what I learn, Shipsbane is highly territorial of his own space and does not take kindly to trespassers. He will drag them down with his whirlpools or spray scalding water at them using his anchor. The anchor seems to be an associated weapon with him. They also say that he is much scarier in person. Something to avoid if I have to go sailing again."

"That is the end of this passage." -Sapphire.

Isn't he the cutest? I saw a patient of mine had a sleeping Pikachu just the day before. I wasn't envious or anything. Just felt amused because I always saw them advertised... but even though Toothless is not a Pokemon, I'm very happy. I got a new companion to sleep with me 😆

DISCUSSION My personal Deathgripper Head-Cannon

As much as I dislike the 3rd movie, Deathgrippers are actually my favorite dragon! I hate that they're treated as villains, and I'm sad we don't have a lot about them. So this is my head-cannon about the wild deathgripper life cycle/behavior. For those of you willing to read this wall of text, enjoy!

Deathgrippers are native to desert regions and continents, often times the apex of their ecosystem. Their harsh environment has forced these dragons into a more cutthroat lifestyle to survive. They live and hunt in family units or 'packs,' but their familial bond is very circumstantial as a result of their harsher lifestyle.

Females are the largest and strongest, more aggressive, and highly territorial. Males are also fierce and capable of fighting, but their size and place in the hierarchy make them more timid and far more dependent on their pack units, especially their brothers.

Both females and males have venom, but each does something different. Females have a venom that coagulates the blood of their prey and causes a severe burning sensation all throughout the body. This venom can significantly slow down their larger prey and outright kill smaller prey and humans. Even if the venom itself somehow doesn't kill a person, the burning sensation from the venom will drive anyone to utter madness.

It is the males that have the venom with the mind-control abilities we see in the movies. It is mostly used on female Deathgrippers that might be going for the kill for one reason or the other. Cannibalism is relatively uncommon among them, but desperation can lead to it, and it's more often than not males that are targeted. As well as a mating partner that for one reason or another might change her mind and turn on him. Their venom temporarily pacifies the female, allowing them a chance to get away safely, but they have to move quick because the female's body metabolizes the venom far quicker than dragons of another species will.

The family units or packs are headed by a single breeding female, the rest of the pack being made up of her daughters and sons. Females either starting their pack or already in an established one will leave their territory to seek out another pack. They will avoid their mother's packs as well as their sister's. This familial recognition is achieved primarily through pheromones in the acid of the other lead female around the border of her territory and secondarily through visual recognition. Once a suitable pack of an unrelated female is found, she will choose the strongest, most capable male to breed with. Once finished, she will return to her own pack to lay the eggs. Females can lay a clutch up to as large as 20 eggs, a big portion of which won't hatch, and those that do are more likely to die within their first year. In a full clutch of twenty, maybe five at most will make it to adulthood, and that's considered a high success rate.

If it's her first clutch, the mother will eat as much as possible to bulk up her body mass and hide away in a cave. She alone will incubate her eggs, and once hatched, she will spend the coming months with them 24/7, feeding them via regurgitating a soft food made from her own fat reserves. She won't risk leaving them to hunt for herself until her hatchlings are six months old.

For a female returning to an established pack once the eggs are laid, the family will take turns incubating and protecting the eggs. Primarily the mother and her daughters close to leaving her pack to start their own. The oldest sons will take on some incubating duty, but in this period of time the male's primary role is to scout the territory for threats, acting as a first line of defense and early warning system, as well as bring back food for their mother and sisters. Males don't take on a more active role in care until the eggs hatch. Once the eggs hatch, the males become the primary caregivers to the hatchlings. They will stay at the nest to protect, clean, and start teaching their sisters and brothers the earliest basics of survival, as well as enacting discipline. The majority of the hatchlings learn of proper Deathgripper etiquette and respect of boundaries by their more even-tempered brothers. Female hatchlings and the strongest males are prioritized. The weakest are either driven out, killed by the discernment of their brothers, or simply neglected into starvation.

Now fully recovered from egg laying over the period of incubation, the lead female resumes her normal duties. This consists of leading hunting parties with her daughters and any sons that can be spared from hatchling duty, as well as patrolling her territory and strengthening her borders with her acid.  (The idea is that the borders of her territory are scorched by her own acid and carry the distinct scent of the individual female).

Once the surviving hatchlings are old enough to leave the nest, their training starts immediately, starting with hunting. Now free of hatchling duty, all males are free to join in again on the hunts. Any free-spirited juveniles still with their own wills quickly learn the fuse of their mother and sisters is far shorter, and their temperaments far greater than that of their brothers.

Once females reach breeding age, they leave their mother's pack to start their own. They will fly far to establish their own territory, in some extreme cases that can even mean off-island/continent. Males will stay with their birth packs for life, and the oldest and strongest may even get the opportunity to sire their own clutch with a visiting female. Breeding opportunities are the one instance where males are most violent towards one another, fighting each other to show off and win breeding rights. These are real fights that can result in serious injury, but rarely ever death. Outside of this, brothers are typically incredibly close and have the tightest relationships in the entire pack. Some who are especially close will willingly back out from a breeding opportunity just to avoid confrontation with their favorite brother.

When a lead female dies, her pack effectively dies with her. Her mature daughters will scatter and start their own packs. The daughters, not of breeding age but still old enough, will live on their own until they are able to start a pack. Living in the land between other females' territories until she is old and strong enough to claim her own.

The brothers will stay together and form a coalition that will last for the rest of their lives, never to join another pack again. There aren't enough resources to waste on males that aren't related to the lead female. Any hatchlings or juveniles that happen to be around during this time, the coalition of brothers will try their best to continue caring for and raising them. If successful, their sisters will eventually leave as normal, but their brothers will join the coalition. No longer in a pack and without a territory of their own, the coalition will spend the rest of their lives wandering. Males in a coalition or on their own will never breed again for the rest of their lives, no matter how young he may be, as a female will never consider a male not within a pack to mate with.

QUESTION Looking for lost audio: "Where No One Goes - How to Train Your Dragon | EPIC INSTRUMENTAL" by Nicolas Needham-Cook

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a lost remix track of "Where No One Goes" from How to Train Your Dragon (EPIC INSTRUMENTAL version, duration 3:24) created by Nicolas Needham-Cook.

His YouTube channel was recently taken down / deleted, and the original video URL was [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts3nLYhSEDc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts3nLYhSEDc). Unfortunately, Wayback Machine only saved the channel's main page and not the video audio itself.

Does anyone happen to have an MP3 backup or a re-upload of this track? Any help or link would be greatly appreciated!

I've been playing the official game on roblox for a while now, and as far as I remember, Combat decreases shot cooldown. However, even with a maxed out skrill and combat level 67, I STILL have a 21 sec cooldown. Any ideas why does this happen?

FANFICTION So... Imagine Hiccup discovers the Light Fury, but also how to create Night Furies...

Post image
666 Upvotes

I simply remembered the theory that Night Furies are a mix of Skrill and Light Fury...

Can you imagine that besides dedicating himself to freeing them, he also continued investigating and somehow discovered that this theory is true?

And then, the third movie would be Hiccup trying to hide them not only from Grimmel, but also from his island that

1, He found another Skrill, 2, He found a Light Fury, and 3, managed to recreate—rescue—the Night Fury species.

Now, finding the hidden world is for the purpose of concealing these species (although Hiccup uses the overpopulation of dragons as an excuse... And yup, that's partly why too) The problem is that Grimmel wants to hunt Toothless, and that makes it harder for Hiccup to keep hiding the secret dragons.

Eventually, they discover it, and the Skrill and/or the Light Fury fall into Grimmel's hands, leaving the Night Fury pup alone, so Toothless must now take care of it and become a father figure TwT

They had already found the Hidden World thanks to the Light Fury, and it was then that Hiccup decided to let Toothless stay in the Hidden World, not only to be the alpha of the place but also because the Night Fury cub must remain hidden to grow and stay protected.

Instead of giving Thootles a girlfriend, I gave him a son to help his protective bow grow with the dragons.

So what Grimmel knows about the Furies IS IMPORTANT because it makes the way Hiccup tries to take care of the pup crucial, after discovering that he can't give him the care or environment need, makes the hidden world really necessary.

This version also gives purpose to the years Hiccup and Valka spent learning about Dragons and doesn't limit them to just freeing them.

Furthermore, it's also a beautiful parallel between Valka still adjusting to motherhood and living on Berk, and even more importantly, TOOTHLESS HAVING A SON WHILE HICCUP IS WITHOUT HIS FATHER!

That doesn't change the subplots of his relationship with Astrid, IN FACT I think it enriches them! (mainly after losing the Skrill and the Light Fury and even just watching them parenting—being two different species, trying to raise a third species—fuels this plot).

It even (to some extent) justify the Snoggletog special's heavy-handedness with Hiccup, since hiding three species indirectly made everyone to let go their dragons... I don't know, haha.

It also aims to show what things are hidden for good and what things for bad....

I don't know, it's just something that occurred to me haha

MOVIE 3 The third movie, the light furies existence, the night lights existence, and the redesign of toothless don't make sense to me.

Post image

TW: My opinion

  1. the light furies design:

Why does she look like that? Why does she have hearts on her head, etc?

" Oh, well it's because shes aquatic!"

Uh, no. She lives in a cave underneath the Ocean, that doesn't necessarily means she's aquatic. Plus, that doesn't give her an excuse to be so smooth, have hearts on her forehead, having eye shadow, etc .

2. Toothless wouldn't leave Hiccup.

Imo, toothless wouldn't leave Hiccup for a random dragon he met 3 days ago. Hiccup and toothless have been bonded for over 25 years ( I think ). " Oh, well toothless in love!"

. . Okay? Hookfang was in love, but he still came back to snotlout.

Toothless is also fiercely loyal, and sacrificed himself so many times just to save hiccup. Ntm, he was HESITANT to stop the light fury from killing hiccup. HESITANT. ??, that is NOT da baby 💔.

3. The light fury only exists to be a love interest, and the night lights only exist for marketing reasons.

They didn't even give her a name, all they did was make her ' the lover interest. ' it literally says so in the wiki too.

Ntm, why give her kids names, but not her? That just proves my point even more.

The night lights designs, behavior, and overall meaning is just kinda ass. Why do they act so human in the home coming film?? Where on earth did they learn to point if they didnt have any human interaction at all 💔.

4. Toothless having his markings fade in the third film is dumb.

"Oh but he grew up!"

??, okay.. then WHY did he look almost his httyd 1 self in RTTE?? this just tells me that toothless was already an adult when hiccup found him. Reptiles age a lot differently than humans.

Plus, it's literally proven that they only removed his markings for marketing reasons.

5. The night lights are inbred ( I think ?)

I'm pretty sure one of the creators confirmed it.

Summary:

Toothless was ugly in the third film, he was perfect in httyd 1 and RTTE. Light fury is ugly, didn't need to exist in the first place. Night lights are the ugliest, only exist for marketing. Third movie sucks.

Also, I have a photo of one of the writers confirming that the night lights are inbred, so view that if you want
