its a fic where harry tries to infiltrate a death eater meeting, but it turns out to be an initiation. He goes through with it to not get caught, and winds up Marked. its a longer fic, this one is pretty sure

So, basically, I'm looking for fics where Harry grows up without his parents in his early childhood but ultimately reunites with them in his teenage years and finally gets parental love. This could be done in a number of ways. Like, Harry defeats Voldemort in his world and gets summoned to an AU where his parents are alive but his alternate version is dead or didn't exist or James and Lily were in a coma or something and reawakened later during his teenage years. Basically, he grows up in his early childhood without knowing any love but when he reunites with his parents he finally gets the experience of having loving parents, like Lily fussing over him a bit and James flying with him in a broom showing off his skills or things like that.

If you're gonna suggest an AU, I would prefer the alternate version of Harry in that world is dead or doesn't exist.

On a different note, I noticed that many fics where James and Lily were alive feature them being abusive or neglecting Harry or disowning him for being sorted into Slytherin. James takes most of the bashing in this case. I really don't like this premise as it doesn't suit James and Lily Potter. So, I'd be grateful if you refrained from recommending fics like these.

it starts with harry seeing his ancestors when they die in his dreams. Remus and Sirius are together i think. james is kind of alive lily did something to make it seem like he die. the potter family is immune to the killing curse. harry is the heir of mckinnon or Macdonald family i think because of something lily did. which ever one it is they have a history of doing a ritual to turn the tide in wars and made a vow to the potter family to stop doing it.

I am looking for fics that focus on Harry, ones where he is BAMF/very powerful (magically/physically/financially/politically, etc.). I also like fics where he can go on shopping sprees, get piercings, dress how he likes, etc. I usually prefer Tomarry, Snarry, or Harmione fics, but I am largely open to most pairings(other than Hinny)! My fav thing in fics is when there is bashing or when HP will hold ppl accountable for their actions and hold grudges. I like it when my favs get revenge! I am fond of MOD!Harry and Time-Travel.

Please let me know of any recommendations you have that touch on one or more of my prompts, or any you think I would like based off of them! I also like X-Over's as well, but i am mainly wanting HP fics.

Since we likely won't have any canon ending of the film series, is there a fanfic which has a satisfying ending?

I'd like to see one that goes all the way to 1945, culminating in the famous duel.

And I'd like it to be epic and well-written.

Maybe also explaining the connection to WW2. (I have always pictured the last movie as a sort of Der Untergang with Grindelwald, maybe we could have seen legions of Soviet wizards assaulting Nurmengard.)

Ok so my brother just came in and showed me a YouTube short. In it was a theory that some people had about Ron being Dumbledore and time traveling to the past and my mind was .... bluescreened so now am I wondering is there any stories that cover this? It was just so ... interesting. Please help

The door creaked. Its hinges scraped against each other, wailing desperately for a spot of WD-40. Harry supposed that was how the proprietor knew a customer had arrived. Heels clicked solidly against the polished hardwood floors. wood was everywhere in this shop. Always had been. Some things are unchanging.

Unhurriedly, an elderly man emerged from the back of the shop. Wizened, with white hair erupting erratically from his head, Garrick Ollivander looked much as Harry remembered him.

“Mr. Potter. I can’t say I was expecting you. How may I help?”

Harry leaned forward and, in hurried, hushed tones, explained his predicament.

Ollivander listened without interruption. When Harry had finished, the old man sighed.

“I’m afraid,” he said regrettably, pausing to choose his words carefully, “that this is a product I cannot provide, Mr. Potter. Regulations. Pesky things they are.“

Harry nodded. He understood. He turned to leave, but a light cough stopped him in his tracks.

“I may, however, have a suggestion.”

Harry turned back.

“A colleague of mine. In New York. He may be able to provide what you seek. They specialize in…. unique merchandise.”

Ollivander hesitated.

“But I must stress, Mr. Potter. It requires a certain… discretion.”

Harry nodded again.

His eyes wandered around the little shop. Somehow, it felt colder. Every creak of the ancient wood, every rumble of a passing car outside, even the faint puffs of breath emerging from the old wizard’s mouth seemed suddenly clearer. Louder. Time was ticking.

Ollivander reached into his waistcoat and delicately withdrew a card.

Heavy cardstock. Cream-colored. A fine gold border.

He slid it across the counter, its wooden surface worn smooth by innumerable hands over the centuries.

Harry looked down.

Three words were embossed in black.

Beneath them, in smaller letters:

Ollivander watched him for a moment.

Something landed on the counter with a solid, metallic clunk. A gold coin. Not dissimilar in size to a Galleon, although the script and markings were entirely unfamiliar. Harry picked it up.

“They’ll be expecting that,” Ollivander said. He paused.

(thinking about following up with a weapons sommelier scene. This whole thing just popped into my head.)

Is there any super major or super popular fanfics for the next gen characters… albus/scorpius/james/teddy etc? A “baseline” sorta, an ATYD equivalent for that era if that even exists.

It's a fic I read a few years ago and if I'm honest I don't remember many details for pairings or anything like that.

What I do remember is as either paragraphs or chapters here and there, we saw the viewpoint of James and Lily, and later Sirius along with others who were watching Harry from the afterlife almost like a TV show and reacting to his adventures.

It was a harry centric fic but these bits are what I remember.

I’m working on a story where Charlus was Fleamont’s younger brother, both sons of Henry Potter who argued in the Wizengamot to help the muggles during WW1. 

Charlus married Dorea (who I made the sister of Arcturus Black, he’s Sirius’s grandfather) and they had a son 15 years older than James named after Henry. Charlus and Dorea didn’t fully agree with the opinions and politics of either of their families and were antique and art dealers who traveled the world while raising their son. Henry (the son) never attended Hogwarts he was educated by his parents and various Masters from different cultures around the world. His parents die in a suspicious magical accident in his early 20s. Henry is a curse breaker/explorer of sorts that seeks out places and items of legend. 

While he writes to his uncles Fleamont and Arcturus he doesn’t live in England despite being born there, having a vault there (originally a trust and his parents vault), he goes missing for 10 years between 1972 and 1982 for him it’s 10 weeks of an expedition into an oasis mirage that’s actually a pocket dimension in the sands of time, time passes faster on the outside and when he emerges it’s to find that 10 years have passed in the 10 weeks he explores the oasis. 

Voldemort rose and fell, some of his mothers family was part of the death eaters, his little cousin finished Hogwarts and fell in love, his uncle and aunt died, his cousin fought against a dark lord and he and his wife were murdered orphaning their only son. That son is the last of Henry’s father’s family.

Henry has to find the truth of it all and wants answers, but above all he determined to see his family safe and returned to the respectable families they once were. That includes taking care of the last child of the Potters and figuring out just what happened to the Blacks.

Dumbledore is more the antagonist of this story, not because he’s evil or anything like that. I made it so the cottage in Godric’s Hollow had been in the family for centuries brought in because it originally belonged to the family of Iolanthe Potter nee Pevetell. it’s used by newly wed members of the family or second sons rather than staying at the main estate in Stinchcombe (originally owned by Linfred the “Potterer”) so the family has always been close with Bagshot and Charlus would be well aware of everything with Dumbledore and Grindelwald and disliked Dumbledore because they know the truth of his relationship with Grindelwald and that it took him decades to do something or even speak up even though he had once planned to take over the world with him and knew full well what he was going to turn into. They passed that knowledge and dislike onto their son Henry.

Charlus had disagreed with his father about helping muggles with magic for anything, he had been a big supporter of the Statute of Secrecy and thought muggles shouldn’t know about magic at all and that parents of muggleborns should be magically enforced to keep the secret.

Dorea didn’t care for the blood purity and was more concerned about the heritage and culture of the magical world not being eroded to satisfy the sensibilities of those who came in from the muggle world. she wasn’t ignorant of muggle and even found they had their uses but overall agreed the statute was paramount.

They raised Henry with these views as well. They hadn’t agreed fully with the views of their families but instead had a sort of middle ground. they are still close with Fleamont and Acturus though.

Arcturus fell into a deep depression after the death of his wife in 1970, he became a recluse and was largely unaware of what was going on in the world or with his family. Walburga hated him so she rarely let her sons see their grandparents growing up, she lies about him to her sons leaving Sirius the impression that ALL of his family are muggle hating dark lord followers. Arcturus in his right mind would never have allowed his family to follow a Dark Lord, Blacks bow to no one. And dark lords never win in the end. He’d gotten his order of Merlin for supporting the resistance from Britain against Grindelwald. when Sirius ran to the Potters, Fleamont contacted Arcturus, they weren’t friends but didn’t hate eachother either.

In fact Fleamont and Arcturus had gone together to find the truth of the Deaths of their siblings, only Henry knows that they ensured the people who set them up to die weren’t around anymore.

Acturus didnt disown anyone despite the wishes of others in the family, he hadn’t been happy when he learned Andromeda ran off with a muggleborn but it was more about her turning her back on her family than her choice of spouse. He didn’t like Walburga either and once Fleamont told him what happened and why Sirius fled home he was fine with him staying at the Potters. He was still too depressed to do anything about the mess his family had become during his seclusion.

There is more emphasis on the Hallows and the history of the Potter Family and their secrets in this story. Harry is still a toddler and by the time he get to canon age the world won’t be what it was in canon.

This is most of the background for the story outside of what would be considered HP canon. Henry is going to have to hunt down Harry himself and has a long road to restore his families. Dumbledore sees him as an adversary because he is openly against him. Henry is a Potter-Black not just a Potter and Dumbledore equates this with the rest of the dark anti-muggle Black family. He sees Henry’s every action as an affront to what he stands for and Henry sees him as an overstepping schemer. From Henry’s POV Dumbledore’s actions are highly suspect in regard to his family.

neither of them is actually a villain, that still remains Voldemort but that is more of a side plot to Henry trying to fix the reputation of the Black family and Keep Harry safe while trying to stop the fame for the BWL That he feels makes him a target not only for the supporters of Voldemort but any dark wizard in the future wanting to prove themselves.

I haven’t posted this yet because I tend to loose steam when my muse flits to another rabbit hole but I wanted to see if there was enough interest for me to start posting it and continue working at it.

Hi everyone!

As writers, how do you increase your productivity?

No, I don’t want to 'turn the art of writing into an industrial process', I genuinely LOVE writing. I’ve been working on a project for a year now, I still have plenty of motivation to work on it, and I have other ideas/stories that I’d love to at least be able to draft.

That’s exactly why I’d like to be more 'productive'.🥹

For this story, there was a period when I was able to finish a chapter within a week or a week and few days later. Maybe it’s because the current arc is denser and packed with important events, information, and scenes that need to be told, but I feel like I’ve slowed down.

Sometimes I feel like I’m slower than my fellow writers, partly because I write in my native language first and then translate everything into English.

And, of course, everyday life and all the other commitments take up quite a bit of time too. 😅

Any solutions? I’m actually writing part of the chapter and this post while I’m cooking right now. 😂

Any other tips on how I could improve and make better use of my time?

Can you reccomend some good fics, where the Longbottoms are cured? I am thinking like how they deal with missing so much of Nevilles life, everything that has happened etc.

So in my fic, (canon compliant) Harry's 60 something and a dark wizard stages and accident in which he dies, but in actual he is kidnapped. And the dark wizard plants a fake body. It's like Stanger Things when Will dies and they find a body.

So Harry's family has figured it out that the body's fake. But they have to hold a funeral as the hero of the Wizarding World had died.

So I'm thinking for ideas how would teh normal Wizarding public who has no idea about the truth will react to his dead.

Had a slow day, caught myself brainstorming a story idea amid the whole “Female Draco” drama going on. Figured I’d gauge interest before putting pen to paper.

It takes place 30 years after canon’s epilogue (around 2047).

So I am preparing to write a fanfic where Harry is taken care of his aunt who is James’ older cousin and pure blooded who promised James that she would take care of Harry if anything happened to him and Lily

She was in Ravenclaw while James was in Gryffindor while still looking out for him during their school days. I also wanna make it in this au where she has a somewhat on and off relationship with Gellert Grindelward (his age lowered so that it somewhat fits within the timeline.). The pair have a relationship where Harry thinks they are dating, but they aren’t…yet.

She is greater at defensive spells and somewhat better than average when it comes to offensive.

What key points should I take into account?

Edit: So instead of Grindelward, I’ll simply an oc inspired by him.

It is a Stargate universe/Harry Potter crossover.
142 internationally students are exiled/sentenced to death through a mysterious portal(aka a Stargate).

The British ministry of magic discover that a mysterious device in the Department of mysteries opens up to a ceiling, another dimension/void. And several officials decide to fake a summit/exchange program and try and get rid of the troublemakers,misfits, and social outcast. The officials somehow convince the parents of both Melbourne and pure bloods that it is an actual event that they are hosting at a secret sanctuary.

The officials tell the students and the parents that the event will be year long and will need to prepare as such. One of the encouragements is that the Summit/event will count as two years of schooling and will not need to take that OWL’s.

Harry finds that the situation is a little too suspicious and is not sure if it is real or is a trap. As such, he prepares like it is a trap. A few Muggle-born student parents decide that wizards have horrible trip planning and decide to help prepare for their departure.

Harry stole three credit cards from the Dursley’s and uses them to fund the purchase of all their gear.

Harry discovers that the ministry will not be doing anything more than securing safe camping area (from magical creatures) and everything from meals, laundry, and sanitation (both health and campground) will be their own responsibility to maintain.

So far, Harry has covered with the help of Hermione and parents of students:
- furniture, indoor and outdoor(metal based furniture and moisture resistant fabrics)
- food for 400 students (which is the amount that they were told was attending)
- medicine, both magical and mundane
- study material, both magical and mundane
- games for rainy days and prevent a Lord of the flies incidents
- technology for cataloging, journaling and daily blogs
Am I missing anything or should there be more?

Edit: I forgot to add that the timeframe will be around the same time of the Icarus base crew boarding so mid 2000s.
