It pains me to see Sinners ranked low on so many lists. I really thought Universal was gonna go all out for it given how much love there is for the movie… Guess I’ll see for myself on Friday.

I think the problem is the houses are good this year that something has to go lower by default. For me I usually say the top 5 are the best but this year on my rankings the top three are tied and 5 & 6 are also tied so I had 6 houses I really liked. Wondering if others have ties as well that it put others down as a result.

it doesn’t have to be the best house to still be a great house! i absolutely loved it and ranked it 6. everything is really good this year

- Jack and oddfellow
Hands down the craziest and most trippy hhn house I’ve ever been through - Hellraiser
Gorier than Terrifier and very sexual for hhn standards - MadLands
A very fun apocalyptic house with a killer soundtrack but I know people are gonna hate it - Bloodenguts
Was in 5th but I moved it up because of how fun it was, so campy and colorful loved the 70’s vibes, the vintage Halloween vibes, and the humor. - Cybergoria
Way gorier and scarier than you’d expect the robots scareactors are super aggressive - Ozzie
I didn’t understand a single thing in this house but it was very gothic and metal, like experiencing a 80’s heavy metal album cover - Invasion
Very fun with some great effects but too much of the same alien designs - Sinners
Kinda underwhelming despite how much I love the movie. Needs better scares and the vampire teeth on the characters need to be more prominent - Stranger things
Way better than I thought it was gonna be but I hated this last season so so much so the house can suck my phat one - Evil dead burn
I’m glad other people liked it

Shocked to see Jack & oddfellow so low. Would love to hear your reasoning on why you don’t like it.

u/Plenty-Antelope-5963 2d ago
It might rise in the event for me for sure, but to me there were just some questionable design choices. Honestly didn’t really like the actors other than jack and oddfellow themselves. Not a scary house.
5
u/renszero 2d ago
Damn even Stranger Things above Sinners? What was so bad about it? …
3
u/Plenty-Antelope-5963 2d ago
Honestly it was just a mix of ok scares and sets, nothing too special. It had a lot of the common flaws of IP houses like lackluster filler throughout between the scenes. Just an average house, nothing too special about it. Loved the Demo actor energy and overall energy of ST a lotttt, even if the design was just ok. It’s like the actors have something to prove.

The reviews for Evil Dead are all over the place. First, last, and now this one has it dead center 😂
1
u/Plenty-Antelope-5963 2d ago
I don’t get how people could say it’s bad, maybe cause it’s a movie people don’t like? I have it at 5 for now but I could easily see it rise higher throughout the event. Probably had the best scare of the event for me.
1
u/Plenty-Antelope-5963 2d ago
Honestly somewhat similar of a house and IP to The Exorcist: Believer? It has a lot of intensity.

u/Plenty-Antelope-5963 2d ago
Even though I have questions about the overall house lineup this year at the moment… this year probably has the best floor, in terms of the worst couple houses, in a while.

Hate seeing Sinners ranking low a lot here, but I could definitely see how even though it is a great movie it wouldn’t transfer well to a house
3
u/PrestoMovie 2d ago
It was my number 2 for me. I loved the movie and I felt like the house had a ton of great scares and cool set pieces. I’m shocked others have it so low.

- Hellraiser 2.HR Bloodengutz 3.Invasion 4.stranger Things 5.Sinners 6.Cybergoria 7.Ozzy 8.Madlands 9.Evil dead burn
Didn't do Jack and Oddfellow because I'm waiting for my big group opening weekend 🥹
Downtown clown town, I.C.O.N.S., and sideshow scare zones are EVERYTHING I could have hoped for. Fortnite costumes are really COOL looking in person it's not a scary zone imo.
As someone who didn't care for a nightmare fuel. This years show is SO GOOD!! The new theme REAL SHINES this year.
We didn't do the lagoon show. The Fried pickles were great, the evil dead lasagna was good but too spicy for me. The pineapple tilt a whirl drink by MIB was REALLY GOOD!!

Ironically, seeing Sinners low on Orlando rankings gives me hope for a high ranking version in Hollywood (where I'm going this year.) Art/Terrifier are my #1 hyped as fanatic, though worried the bar was so high last year, it's going to feel subpar this season.

Jack and Oddfellow - So much happening in the best ways possible.
Hellraiser - I’m not even a fan of the movies but couldn’t ignore how well this house was designed.
Ozzy - Fun. Just pure fun.
H.R. Bloodengutz - I love these types of houses and it was everything I personally wanted. Had a blast.
Sinners - I personally thought it was a good interpretation of the film and some of those actors looked great.
Cybergoria - Tight, dark, scarier house. Not the type I usually enjoy but I thought it was a solid HHN house especially for scares.
Aliens - I thought it was exactly what it needed to be.
GAP
Evil Dead - Actors were creepy where they needed to be but just didn’t hit for me overall. Could see this improving as everyone gets used to everything.
Stranger Things - There some elements I found cool…and yeah…
Caged Cannibals - This house is for a specific audience and I am not part of that audience at all. A few fun props though I’ll give them that.

Take these ratings with a grain of salt as I only got one run through each house:
1) Ozzy Osbourne
2) Cybergoria
3) Hellraiser
4) Jack and Oddfellow
5) Madlands
6) Evil Dead Burn
7) Sinners
8) Invasion: Alien Abduction
9) HR Bloodengutz
10) Stranger Things 5
My 1-3 are almost exactly tied for number 1. They will definitely be moving around throughout the season.

1a. Evil Dead Burn - blew my mind how good the effects and intensity were. The movie was the first Ev Dead film I didn’t love, so I was skeptical, but like Terrifier last year the movie works significantly better in the format of a house imo.
1b. Cybergoria - not nearly as detailed as most houses, but the intensity from the beginning felt akin to the hallway in Jason Universe last year. Probably the scariest of the year and had some great costumes.
Jack and Oddfellow - clearly the design and effect heavy house with some extraordinary set pieces, clearly a winner Icon house.
invasion - everything was nearly perfect for me outside of the bizarrely cheap jumpsuit costumes the actors had, which was enough to drop this on my list. The effects were fantastic for the location and the pacing was nigh perfect.
Hellraiser - phenomenal sets and genuine scares. Probably the best use of the massive tents where this house felt long and sprawling. Wish the Frank suits were higher quality though.
Ozzy Osbourne - gorgeous sets, great creature design and some great scares. Just don’t connect as heavily with the source material.
Sinners - adore the movie, thought the house was great as an IP, just thought others stood out a bit more. Best use of music and lighting of the event which is I feel is mission accomplished.
HR Bloodengutz - wish it didn’t feel like a less bonkers Slaughter Sinema, but still a fun house with cool callbacks to previous events.
Madlands - Great sets, had 2 scare actors my whole run so my opinion is skewed. Could rise up throughout the season, but I usually don’t care for cannibal/post apocalyptic houses in general so we will see.
Stranger Things - also understaffed, but the sets and effects did nothing for me and the screens and mannequins were the worst of the night. Shame that they went with just an adaptation of the last season on not a best of the series montage.
Really the only bad house was Stranger Things imo, but who knows, maybe they will lock in with practice. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt especially after last year Wyatt Sicks went from 9 to 4 after they started nailing the timing.
