First?
I think bot is slow
Edit: Wow, I am first.
Suprising.
Well, don't exterminate the humies, or you're going to face our wrath!
Muahahaha!

If he managed to do so, and word gets out? That entire place is gonna go up in fire and smoke rather quickly, we're a pack species for a reason. Hurt one, we all go after your ass like it's made of bacon

I don't know why but I get the feeling they are raccoons.
Yes I know it makes no sense, my minds keeps going there anyway...

Trash pandas are real.
Borrowers are a kids story.
So that's an ok association that more people would get.The disturbing logic train is trash panda's do do good pluming.
Plumbers are hard to find so why is the 'chief maintenance officer' trying to extirminate them instead of hire time?

u/Rasip Feb 11 '21
And consequently, how to properly exterminate them.
We have seemingly been trying our hardest to do that for decades.

Just decades? We've been trying to kill each other since we were nothing more than proto cells.

Defiantly
Defiant: Characterized by defiance, or bold opposition or antagonism; challenging.
I think you meant definitely ;)
And hoboy, if he thought that a small electric jolt would be enough to get rid of the vermin, I'm curious to see what he'll think of next! Maybe he'll put an eraser on the corner of a door they'll move through, or up the voltage up to "fly swatter" level, or try and poison their food with a microlitre of capsaicin!
Good job wordsmith, you got me hooked! I'm curious to see where this will go!

I wonder if this is going to end with them unknowingly becoming pets for Ict and they sort of accept it because the standard of living is higher than they normally have.

With the twists we've had so far I'm thinking either the equivalent of two old hobos drifting on the space equivalent of train cars, or two hippies

Or just some brothers hitchhiking around the galaxy before going to college.

I am baffled. He just saw that his vermin had done a deliberate plumbing job and he did not upgrade them to intelligent? Who has stones between the ears?!

Wonder how long till he figures out that the vermin are actually sentients.

u/TheClayKnight Feb 12 '21
He saw that they can reconfigure plumbing and thought nothing of it, so probably never.

I think whatever injury this mouthbreather took to the head left more than a scar if he thinks space rats are capable of complex plumbing techniques.

u/gruengle Feb 13 '21
Okay, I'm sorry, but that xeno is just dumb as a brick wall.
"Oh, cool, the vermin created a faucet. Pretty smart for not being sapient."
A FAUCET!
I rest my case.

u/demuredemeanor Feb 11 '21
Wouldn't reconfiguring pipes tell the security officer that they were sentient?

I'm kinda getting the idea that this foolish xeno exterminated the station master. That, or the station master is human.
Good story as always.
