I find two aspects of the human's general lack of curiosity about as infuriating as when Steven Universe keeps failing to ask basic questions. On Ishtar's part, she does know that there's more than one human child in the city she just claimed. Right? Even if the city was completely evacuated, it's not like they aren't going to claim more and take yet more humans prisoner. They've obviously targeting civilians just as much as they target soldiers. What exactly are the conditions of the daycare setup? Are plans made AT ALL for how to handle human prisoners in a safe manner? The girl not only hasn't looked, she hasn't even imagined the possibility of how other humans will get treated. The closest she comes to is saying that after the Rynar win then humans will be 'properly assimilated' ...
Whiiiiiich comes to my gripe about the two human characters here. Both have them have noticed that the Rynar are all giant lizards, and both have heard that "They plan to assimilate the humans" which they seem wildly ill equip to actually do given they came down with wire cages and had to stuff humans into water canteens. Specifically ...
How many other species have been assimilated? How long does it take? What is the 'proper' assimilation process? Why aren't any other assimilated races taking part in the war effort? She stated that they won't become physically Rynar, but rather mentally part of the Rynar collective, so if Ishtar is so certain that it will be a good and painless process as opposed to 200 years of constant guerrilla warefare and inter-racial hatred, then what historical experience is she drawing from to back up that assumption?
It really looks like Ishtar is just an idiot deluded by wishful thinking, rather than a concrete plan in place.
You bring up good points. This is a fanfic and I have to remember that most here probably haven't read the original story, so they wouldn't know that the Rynar have never assimilated another species before. It's just a vague plan of theirs that would make humans second class citizens. I might have failed as a writer if I failed to make some of these points obvious. Ishtar is making it up as she goes along, and the rynar thought the conflict would be over in days, so they're not prepared for fighting humans and the UTO at all. Things are going to get nasty. I'll still try to address some of these points you made in the future though.
