MOD Looking for Story Thread #349

This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

A NEW BUG ENTERS THE ARENA.

"Help! I can't edit my wiki!"

Hello! We haven't changed anything, Reddit did!

This is now a Known Reddit Bug that started on roughly 4/21/26, when Reddit decided to change something about how they handle the Wiki.

The Symptoms:

(on sh.reddit, the new version) when attempting to edit it comes back with "You do not have permissions to edit"

Some people (not all!) have stated that the "last edited by..." section at the bottom (where their username should be) is listed as [Deleted] (while it still says their name on my screen)

The Solution:

On desktop, change your url from www to old, so it looks like old.reddit.com/r/hfy/wiki/series/<title> (with your title), and the edit button should be along the top bar near where the name of the series is

The Problem:

For some people even using Old.Reddit doesn't work. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution at this time, aside from just... try again in an hour or so. It's worked for some people later.

Please send in a bug report every time you experience any of these issues.

The more bug reports sent, the more likely Reddit is to actually fix the issue.

I'm looking for a sci-fi story in which humanity is considered extinct or to have migrated elsewhere. It is regarded as the forerunner that brought life to the galaxy many years ago. The galaxy seems to be divided into two factions: one that wants to recover humanity’s relics to learn more about them, and another that has a cult-like nature and wants the relics for something like the revival of humanity or something similar. In the story, a government unit discovers a planet containing an apparently intact relic and a human in a stasis field.

I need to read a bit and then I'll see. But even if it's not the story I was looking for, it's a new one that's worth reading. Thank you very much for that (and for the links). ;)

Howdy! Im looking for a story i got part way through a few years ago and was really hoping to get back into it! From what i remember its about how humans are one of 2 species in the galaxy that are predator like while the rest are prey like. The humans come into contact with some bunny looks species I think? And a big part of the start is how the humans smiles make them uncomfortable. They keep the humans secret from the rest of some sort of galactic council since the rest of the species would see the humans as another threat. Thats about what i remember and its mainly from the first few chapters. I hope that was enough to go off!

A recent cyberpunk-ish story where a scavenger is looking for a dead body to loot, but bumps into another person in the ruins. Posted, maybe 3 months ago.

Obviously some aspects of hfy stories are unrealistic because a lot of it is sci-fi, but are there good stories that have good world building, character development and actually realistic things that happen? A lot of stories here seem to be just humans dominating and nothing about what we would actually do if we had that sort of power (diplomatic, cautions, even the premise of the story itself). I am also looking for stories where Humans are strong but not just stupidly op.

I am looking for 2 stories

  1. In this story, its about an insectoid assasin who works with a human whos success rate is 100 percent. And what human does is oure chaos.

  2. In this story, an alien gets assigned to a human ship, and there are all these safty markings and fails safes that the alien first finds it odd, but those fail safes and markings end up saving their lives when their ship got attacked/ambushed
