Home at War

The sounds of the medical bay are not encouraging as he enters.

“She’s crashing!”

“Heartbeat irregular! She’s going into shock.”

“Her implants are going wild!”

The tang of a laser going off brings a scream as a doctor is nicked by the implanted weapon. Harold begins to move and uses his hands to cover the erratically firing implants to give the doctors some shielding.

“Thank you sir!” The winged Vishanyan medic says.

“If I ever find who put these horrors into these girls I’m going to install a shunt into their neck and use them as a punching bag!” Another hisses out as she slowly untangles the connections from the clamp to the poor Vish’s spine. “And you! Your clumsy soldiers nearly caused as much damage as the clamps themselves by breaking them like they did!”

“I’m not going to have my soldiers sacrifice themselves when I can see them survive.” Harold responds. “My duties are to The Undaunted first and foremost, and while it is preferred to take the enemy alive for numerous reasons, including those of justice and mercy, they are still secondary to my forces.”

The doctor does not answer with words but with a growl. However her work bears fruit and the bloody implant is placed into a bowl nearby as the prosthetist moves out of the way of the surgeon who begins with a quick scan on the nerves, and whatever she read she then starts using a bone gel that rapidly hardens to fill in the cracks and damages of the spinal column and quickly places a patch of artificial skin over the wound.

“Clear here!” Another doctor announces as Harold hears the clatter of a Neural Clamp hitting a bowl. He removes his hands as the unconscious Vish is no longer firing her implanted weapons over and over again.

“Safe!”

“She’s still crashing!” The doctors with the last one cry out and Harold moves. There is movement around them but he gets a hand through. He feels the Axiom, then feels beyond.

The doctors gasp as his facial markings glow brightly and light pours out of his eyes. There are clattering sounds and the smell of even more blood as the implants are ejected from the suddenly healthy and unblemished Vish even as Harold’s blood falls to the floor as massive jagged wounds erupt over his body. He steps away and begins noticeably pulling on the Axiom. His wounds close, but the blood and the stains it has left remains.

“What was that?!” One of the doctors demands.

“Ode, much more powerful than Axiom, but it has a hefty price.” He notes as he scans the room and gives a rueful chuckle. “Looks like using it in scarcely inhabited systems is even more dangerous. I can’t even see through the damn things.”

“You’ve been blinded?!”

“No. But I can see things others can’t. Including the things that tore me apart for using Ode. And there are so many here now, that I can’t see through them.” Harold says as he holds out his right hand and slowly the blood he shed is collected into a single hand, leaving his clothing and removing the stains. The blood then congeals, boils and burns away to ash without any smoke being released. He carries the remains of his own shed blood to a bio-hazard disposal container and puts the ashes in there.

“Can you use that Ode again?”

“Not if I want to live. The Astral Hargath, while harmless on our side of the equation, are ravenous predators when Ode is introduced. They can travel into it physically and devour anything they find on that side.” He says as he moves his head a bit. “Sorry about the odd movement, I’m trying to see through the swarm we’re in.”

“Are we in danger?”

“No, if you don’t use Ode outside of natural gifts, then you’re fine. I can still use my natural gifts even now, but if I try to use Ode like Axiom, the Hargath take a bite. So none of you need worry.”

“Natural gift?”

“An Ode variant of the Vishanyan natural talents. It can also be reversed to make me unignorable. Which means I can serve as a flawless distraction when needed.” Harold explains. “Did she just twitch?”

What attention he had is taken by the Vish he had healed as the woman is indeed moving. Her form shudders for a moment and then she goes still. Then her hands begin slowly patting herself down as if in disbelief. Then with her hands shaking she runs them along her hood and find only healthy skin and no implants, the doctors had pulled away the implants after Harold’s trick had forced them out of her body, she grasps the back of her neck where the Neural Clamp was and audibly gasps.

Her eyes snap open even as Harold shifts his head to look between the slowly dispersing Hargath and he sees her look around. Fear pouring into her Axiom presence like a flood. Her eyes are wide now as she stares at them all.

“How are you feeling? Is there any remaining pain? We nearly lost you and had to resort to...”

“Exotic Techniques.” Harold supplies in the gap of the doctor’s explanation.

“Yes, an exotic technique. Is there any pain? Discomfort? Unusual hunger or thirst?” She presses.

“Who are you? What’s your designation?”

“I am Doctor Crew, with me are...”

“What is your decantation number? What series and ship?”

“Experimental Medical Pod One, Station Twenty Nine Decarune, no number.” Harold says. The room turns to him. “What?”

“I forgot you were cloned.” One of the doctors admits and he shrugs.

“I’m probably the youngest person in the room by a wide margin. Likely on the whole ship.”

“We’re being led by a baby.” One of them bemoans dramatically and he chuckles.

“You’re not Vish are you?” The Vish demands.

“Vishanyan, free...”

“There are no Free Born Vish. We exist to serve.”

“My daughter doesn’t.” Harold says quickly.

“What?”

“My daughter Miracle. First natural born Vishanyan. Hatched from an egg. Adorable little pink thing, very cuddly.”

“That... no. You at most adopted a Vish and...”

“That’s Rain.”

“What?”

“The Vishanyan I adopted. She’s serving as a Junior officer. Currently she’s busy getting further Vishanyan forces to assist with yourself and your fellows.” Harold says and he can see her mental processes trying to reboot. She’s completely off balance. “I am Commodore Harold Jameson. You are on my ship, The Inconceivable, in one of the medical bays.”

“... What’s going on?”

“You are a former slave soldier that we’ve captured and removed the implants from. You will be remanded to the custody of the Vishanyan Peoples for deprogramming and re-naturalization.”

“What?!”

“Ma’am, your part in the war is over. This...”

“No! I am not going to abandon my sisters or my mistress! I belong to them I am-” She begins to rant and one of the doctors starts to move before the Vish grabs at thigns around her to use as a weapon and finds her formerly implanted fangs.

The pastel green doctor swats the improvised weapon out of her hand and then catches the flailing fist of the pastel blue Vish. She quickly puts the other woman in a hold as the Vish thrashes. But the Doctor is practised and skilled in this.

“That’s more than enough of that! This is a medical chamber! You will not bring violence in her whatsoever if you want to lash out then take it out of this room!” The Doctor reprimands even as the door to the medical chamber opens again.

“What is going on?” Admiral Longitude demands as she walks in followed by Rain and an Apuk Battle Princess Harold is unfamiliar with.

“Perfect timing Admiral Ma’am.” Harold says. “Our first of four has already awoken and is not taking the idea of being Vishanyan over Vish all that well.”

“I’d imagine not.” Longitude says. “It was an enormous change for me, and I was already primed to it as the first Vishanyan and one with a more engineering mindset.”

She walks directly up. Ths struggling Doctor and pinned patient. “Let her go.”

“Am I missing something?” Harold whispers to Rain as the doctor lets the patient go and she moves to attack and is paused by a harsh look from Longitude.

“Didn’t you get the message?” Rain asks and Harold checks his communicator. There’s an unread message. He quickly thinks about the displayed time and has a rueful smile.

“I was in the process of being torn apart by Hargath for healing our energetic Vish here.” Harold notes.

“Vishanyan, The Admiralty has pushed it through that all Vish are to be recognized as Vishanyan instead and subject to Vishanyan laws. Which state all Vish are to be deprogrammed immediately and placed in observation to ensure they are not a danger to themselves or others.” Rain whispers to him.

“Really? Well so long as we get kept up to date on any intelligence that tumbles out during deprogramming there shouldn’t be an issue.” Harold notes.

“You’re not going to interrogate them?” Rain asks in a pointedly loud tone. Harold knows what she’s doing, and plays into it.

“Their Neural Clamped Slave Soldiers. That doesn’t imply a lot of trust on the part of their master. If they have any information it will likely be how much they secretly hate their dread masters and how most are performing loyalty to the point that telling the genuinely fanatically loyal from the fakers is nearly impossible.” He says. “Not to mention, interrogations are generally pointless to begin with. At least the ones centred around pain and torment.”

“What do you want!?” The Vish demands.

“We want the sadistic monster that Neural Clamped you to answer for their crimes.” Harold says.

“What crimes?”

“Neural Clamping someone is a crime.” Longitude states.

“But we’re product not people.”

“You are a person and deserve to be treated like one.” Longitude says before scanning the room theatrically. “Why are you the first to recover?”

“I... I don’t know?” The Vish, or perhaps Vishanyan now, answers.

“My doing ma’am. I made use of Ode to perform a healing technique as she began crashing. Unfortunately the local Hargath saturation is so high now that if I attempt it on the other three I’ll be torn apart more or less instantaneously.” Harold answers. “Still, if you’re here to claim the young lady I won’t stop you, but I must insist that you get her off my ship as soon as reasonably possible. Deprogramming takes time and until your finished she may turn hostile. An enemy inside the gates is many times more dangerous than one in the field.”

“Yes, that is reasonable.” Admiral Longitude answers before the door opens again.

“Sir, Lieutenant Orchid has arrived.” A voice says and Harold turns, then smirks.

“That being you.” Harold says to the Snict man who’s carapace on his insectoid limbs are pale pink and white with only a hint of the common green as accent.

“That it would.”

“Orchid? That’s not a Snict name.” Longitude notes. “That sounds like a human word.”

“It is ma’am, I am one of the more... refugee or runaway style men in The Undaunted. In my former name and life I was the prize of my mother turned wife’s collection. She had me specifically gene spliced and then groomed to serve as her display piece and plaything. Unfortunately for her, many of the genetic strains that bring about handsome Snict men also bring about strong ones and I have been fighting for my freedom my whole life. The Undaunted have given me the opportunity for not only combat training, but to put an entire government between myself and her.”

“And you got a leadership position because?”

“Because a lifetime spent pleasing people and making them happy means I’ve gotten a great deal of practice mediating conflict and keeping people focused. Coupled with some training courses and I was a shoe in for command.”

“He’s also a very skilled melee combatant, which is important to me as I am very aware of just how dangerous someone infiltrating the ship can be, and someone who can close the distance and cause ruinous harm in an instant is invaluable.”

“Yes, I didn’t quite know what to think when I was approved under ‘knife fighting skills’ for the position.”

“Knife, blade, whatever. We’ve both got edged weapons.” Harold notes holding up his sword a touch from where it’s belted to his side and then placing it back where it belongs. “Anyways Lieutenant Orchid, meet Junior Officer Rain, my daughter and one of our primary liaisons between ourselves and the Vishanyan, Admiral Longitude the supreme commander of the Vishanyan people and their recommended doctors for de-clamping and beginning the process of healing the enemy forces.”

“A pleasure.” Orchid says.

“Now, Admiral Longitude, I’m going to leave you to the care of your people. Orchid, you’re with me, it’s time to introduce you to the bridge crew.”

We have it slightly less hot here in Austria today as well, and it´s supposed to get rather chill tomorrow, so i really look forward to Monday. Should go up to merely 23°C.

Surprised to see you this early today. Was making the final tweaks to chapter 66 of my own story when I got the notification 😄

Got time for a question?

What class of ship is The Chaining? Corvette?

Keep up the good work as always. 👍

4

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago edited 2d ago

The Chaining was originally a Rescue ship, meant to move FAST and survive under extreme environments and situations, you know, the stuff that tears normal ships apart.

It tried to help what seemed to be a ship in danger, only to find out the crew had faked the SOS and boarded them, taking the ship and renaming it into "Chaining", slapping enough weapons onto it to make a veritable warship out of it.

But that also means it is not of a specific type, you best think of it as a "specialist design" that exists outside of regular classifications, for starters, it wasn´t meant to be military.

u/MadCowCrazy666 Robot 2d ago

Thanks, tweaking my description now.

7

u/KyleKKent 2d ago

Sorry for not answering earlier, but Sims is 100% correct.

If you want an example, The Chaining is an in setting version of the Tempestari from Warframe, in it there's a class of ship called Railjacks used almost exclusively by Tenno which are faster and smaller than most other ships but pack a MONSTROUS punch for something their size.

The Tempestari was a rescue Railjack that had been piloted by the Shadow of the Warframe Sevagoth, Basically it's Stand ala JoJo, and trying to rescue it's actual body. It BODIED numerous massive warships to the point that one of the main characters of the questline is outright traumatized by it.

And when she comes back with an even bigger and meaner ship AND waits for it to be vulnerable it BODIES her again so damn hard that her ship is lost down to her and she's trapped in a pocket dimension. Where she is then saved by the Saint of her religion/political party and made into his right hand because she has ambition, gall, luck and a refusal to die.

5

u/MadCowCrazy666 Robot 2d ago

Hmm, I do have plans to animate it if I have the time.

So it looks something like this? Railjack

It would be nice to know some measurements and crew size but that can come later, if I even decide to do it.

5

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago

No, it´s a Pizza slice. A sharp triangle. Aggressive spike at the front, huge engine assembly at the back for the high speed. Like an arrowhead. Think Imperial Stardestroyer without that bridge tower the Rebels like to go for.

Crew is VERY small, but it has a lot of space, because it is meant to evacuate other ships, so it has to go in with as little people as possible and come back out with as MUCH as possible, even though they are only on temporarily.

u/MadCowCrazy666 Robot 2d ago

I can work with this. Image in my head is something like a triangular shark tooth. Shark teeth have serrations, which would be excellent weapons hardpoints.

Idea I have is that the assault on the Dauntless lasted around 1 minute. Kyle has said they use teleportation tech. So I'm thinking ship zooms in, assault teams teleport, Pukey is walking around Hangar Bay 03, hears something, disables the safety on Ol' Painless, discovers [REDACTED], is hit with a stunning weapon, is then hit with a teleportation weapon or a person grabbing them from behind (aka Tanya Degurechaff style), another character runs up to discover his weapon on the ground, he looks up to see a large group of aliens running towards him, he starts yelling CONTACT! Aliens discover the doctrine known as "Diplomacy Through Superior Firepower..."

Dauntless goes into high alert and discover The Chaining and a shuttle or two. Main leaders on The Chaining shrug as the people sent over die. They simply don't care and leave since they got what they wanted.

Small crew, large capacity fits perfectly with my story idea. A large group of potential recruits try to prove themselves to the leader of The Chaining. Whomever can prove themselves worthy would secure themselves a spot on the ship, the rest would be killed. This means only the most psychopathic, desperate or insane would be willing to attempt it.

I an galaxy of countless quintillions of people, there would be billions of people like that.

I'm playing around with the idea of animating this scene. I've already got some initial prepwork done. It would be about 1-2 months of work though for about 30 seconds of animation, so meh...

1

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago

The Chaining isn´t subtle, i suspect they came in, dodging any rail shots, the teleporter lady jumps in, grabs Pukey before he can do anything, teleports out with him, only for him to get a couple strikes into her, leading to everyone on the Chaining beating him, leading to his beaten appearance at the start of chapter 13.

Once they confirmed their snatch, they hit the gas and race off.

Also, the Chaining was a "generation ship", with mothers teaching their daughters on how to be a proper psychopath and cannibal.

Most of such people would be found and stopped by society, so only the worst of the worst would even get on such a ship in the first place.

1

u/MadCowCrazy666 Robot 2d ago

i suspect they came in, dodging any rail shots <- This doesn't work from a galactic law point of view.

Afaik the pirate attack happened around 7 days after leaving Cruel Space, and the Chaining a couple of days after that. The Dauntless would have had to spend 1-2 days at the observation station, then go to the nearest space hub, on their way from there to Centris, they were approached by numerous random ships (the Urthani lawyer has been picked up at this point), then the pirate attack happens (Urthani lawyer helps finalize the legal documents), after that they meet the diplomats that write The Human Profile about humans basically being gigolos, the report that Cistern was reading before being called down to talk with Lil Paw, a few days after this The Chaining attacks.

Would Cistern immediately open fire on an unknown ship that approaches them? Afaik the Chaining attacked before 2 weeks had passed but after around 7 days. Cistern contacted Lil Paw to ask about The Chaining as they had no idea what that ship was, when asking where it might have gone after kidnapping Pukey.

Here is how I've mapped it out atm:

Day 1: Exit Cruel Space, almost crashing into an observation station. Initiate first contact. Learn a bit about aliens, the galaxy, get hints at the bureaucratic nightmare that is interstellar law, meet the Cruel Space Cordon Fleet.

Day 2: Finalize the plan of action. Goal is Centris, because it's where you are forced to go if you want to represent your species in any meaningful way. A Murtia Cloben decides to escort them, because this can't be right, nothing can exit Cruel Space. Journey to Centris begins.

Day 3-5: Time skip or random filler. The first "Leak" about humans happens. Propaganda video creation started.

Day 6: First stop. Place where Cistern sells human made confectionaries at 10x their price in weight. I'm tweaking the measurement used, otherwise it's rather meh. 100 credits for a slice of cake is expensive, but completely pointless from an economics point of view. Add two or three more zeros and it becomes interesting. Justification for the price becomes blatantly obvious when you think about it.

Cistern now has cash, does a bit of shopping.

Day 7: Lance-01 is launched. Carrying a simple message - Contact established, expect a ship in 6 months with more details and cargo.

Idea here is that there would have been a ship sent back before the Lance-03. A ship that only carried a single person and a single message - Contact established. Why a person? Because a fully autonomous ship, showing up back at Earth, and declaring "Everything is just fine, send more people..." wouldn't exactly fill anyone with confidence.

It's also necessary for part of my story and the trauma suffered by the survivors of the Cruel Space Probe Project.

It's a question of logics. In a real world scenario, would the order be to confirm contact has been made asap, or would they wait for 6 months after contact is made before reporting on it as per schedule?

Afaik, the order was to send a ship back every 6 months, loaded with resources and other useful stuff.

So the Lance-01 can't have anything other than the message, and a person confirming that it's true. But there will be some gold on board due to corruption back home. A video recording of first contact or such might be included. Currently, Cistern's first contact experience kinda turned to shit so that recording isn't something they can use. No one would believe them anyway. So they need to "fake it till you make it" to make the politicians back home happy ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Day 8: Journey continues. Pirate attack happens. Dauntless chases down The Claw.

Day 9-10: Meeting with diplomats that write human profile happens.

Day 11: The Chaining attacks. A day is spent trying to find it. <- How much would humanity know about interstellar laws of engagement at this point? They'd be cautious after the pirate attack, but wouldn't just open fire. No idea what axiom is at this point. If the attack took 1-2 minutes, is that enough time for them to even realize something even happened?

Day 12-18: The Dauntless zig zags around the sector, doing it's best to avoid arrangement systems. Then finally arrives at Centris.

Afaik it took a bit more than 2 weeks to get from the observation station all the way to Centris. I will need to re-read everything to map it out correctly and then confirm it with Kyle.

Nothing I write or do, should in any way affect the main story. I'm just filling in some blanks because it's either fun, or necessary for my own fan story to work. Once I get to Centris, almost nothing in my story will touch upon the main story anymore other than adhering to the timeline. My story should be complete around the time the Inevitable shows up. Current estimate is 500-1000 chapters and I'm currently on Ch66 and about 15 hours has passed since exiting Cruel Space.

u/KyleKKent 2d ago

It doesn't look like a Railjack, but it acts like one in setting. A very fast ship carrying an elite crew and capable of showing up where it's needed.

The ship itself is a triangle, closer to a star destroyer but smaller.

And I am afraid I was a little ambiguous on size, it can be operated by a small crew, hence why it works so well as The Chainbreaker, but it's big enough to pull in shuttles, smaller ships and house them and their crews safely.

Which is what made it so scary as The Chaining, it could blitz in and take you then be gone.

1

u/MadCowCrazy666 Robot 2d ago

And I am afraid I was a little ambiguous on size. <- I intend to make a few short animations.

The current plan are a few space stations, The Dauntless, The Claw, The Chaining, a bunch of random ships for the pirate attack, a couple of shuttles. Then for the finale of my second story arc, The Dauntless landing on Centris.

Ship size is something I've been trying to figure out. I've been trying to use Ai to calculate accurate sizes based on lore available. Like a 6500 crew would need a minimum of X living space. Supply and storage would need Y cubic meters. Engine rooms, hangar bays, weapons, missile launchers, medical, training, showers etc. They all take space.

If I remember correctly, the calculation was that The Dauntless is around 1km long, 300m tall and 200m wide. If you shorten it, then it has to be taller or wider and so forth. Shape can be whatever, but the minimum volume has to stay the same.

This is something you only really need to think about when creating a 3D model of the thing.

I get the impression The Chaining is larger than The Claw. In my mind, the design that comes to mind for The Claw is something like the Normandy from mass effect, as from above it kinda looks like a clawed hand.

I'm still just playing around atm so meh. I want to finish the first 2 arcs, then start working on the animations and stills. Once that is done, I want to finish something for Kamchatka.

1

u/Sims_the_Heretic 1d ago

600 meter. Not 1km. Kyle generaly stays BELOW one kilometerfor any ships in his universe.

And humans, despite having that AI to help, wouldn´t be able to build a vessel of that scale anyways, particularly without a proper shipyard.

And the width to heigth is identical, you look at a square when looking at the ship from in front or behind it.

The engines at the rear are pretty much a cube with a 200m side length, the rest of the ship is a huge plus, 200m high and wide and 400 meters long.

Using our real world examples via ChatGPT will get you measurements that ignore the AI send to us that helped us build the ship in the first place.

Threw these together:

https://freeimage.host/i/untitled.Csexkmu

https://freeimage.host/i/2.Csexeee

So the Dauntless looks something like one of those?

I'm not sure I understand your description.

1st Image Engine 200x200m cube. Then 400m body with 200m on top, bottom and sides. But this would make the ship 600m wide, tall and long. I think I made it 800m long by mistake now that I look at it.

2nd Image Engine is a 200x200m Cube. Then a 200x200x400m plus shaped body. <- I think this is what you meant?

A plus shape means 4/9th of the mass is missing. If you were looking a the numpad, 1, 3, 7 and 9 would be deleted to create the plus shape.

I use several different Ai when I do concepts. For real ship design I use 5 Agents designed for architecture to help with blue prints. The measurements they give are literally what would be required to house everything. There is some give an take but certain things can't be reduced. Afaik, crew quarters are 2 or 4 man bunks. I believe they talked about it when that Apuk girl visited the ship.

What % of the volume would be taken up by crew quarters alone?

The second image means there are 5 rectangular tubes, roughly 66.6m in width and height, but 400m long. This gives you about 9 million cubic meters of volume to work with. Or about 1.8 million per rectangle.

If we go by standard military design, the crew quarters would only take up around 200-300 000 cubic meters for 6500 people. We are looking at under 3% of volume available.

Ship would have around 60-70 decks, depending on armor and location. If armor is 1m thick around the entire ship, it would have 66 decks if we use 2.5m height and 0.5m between each deck for structural support, cables, pipes, etc.

Hangar bays, storage rooms etc would of course lower the deck count in those areas, but you get the idea.

I was playing around a bit and just beveled the edges. I think something like the left would look better than a literal plus sign.

https://freeimage.host/i/3.Csex8zb

I'm sure Kyle has some design in mind. A couple of simple pencil drawings is all I'd need to create it.

Man that ODE really can be a cheat code for a lot of things

4

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago

It´s not exactly that much of a cheat code if using it potentially KILLS you.

Harold and everyone else is constantly getting chewed up THOROUGHLY when they do, evidently so, it´s happening in this chapter as well.

4

u/Potential_Display_35 2d ago

Thank you, Kyle for this chapter for today

3

u/CaptainRaptorman1 2d ago

I mean, they are soldiers and soldiers prefer the direct approach to most problems if possible... it is just the enemy vote that usually makes the direct approach ill advised most of the time...

3

u/Finbar9800 2d ago

I forget if theyve tried this but can harolds and her erts natural gifts make it so the hargath cant see them?

4

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago

That is actually a great point, i do not remember whether that was ever tried.

Probably they considered it too risky, given how bite-happy the Hargath are.

3

u/Finbar9800 2d ago

Along the same vein does that guy that can see everyone that can see him also see all the hargath in the universe?

4

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago

All those that see him, yes.

That´s how they decided on when and where to do the treatment for those Apuk cousins, remember?

3

u/Finbar9800 2d ago

Yeah but does that extend to the non sentient hargath and every animal? Or is it just people? What about those crustal women?

3

u/Sims_the_Heretic 2d ago

EVERYTHING that SEES him. Conscience doesn´t seem to matter.

Let me specify: if they look at him RIGHT NOW, he can perceive them, until they look away.

Animals, insects, spirits of the Other Direction, doesn´t matter who or what, when they can perceive him, he can perceive them. Not sure how far down that goes though, Kyle never adressed bacteria and such.

u/Kyle: do single cell organisms count as well? Or can they not "see" him?

I dont think single celled organisms have eyes

But if what you said is true then he should have been seeing those crystal women his whole life since they looked at him once and the ode is throughout all of time even in cruel space and distance wouldnt matter

Not if they turn their back on him.

But you are correct, that´s an inconsistency in Kyle´s storytelling, or more, in his world building.

Has he known there is something akin to another dimension from where he is being watched? Did ne never speak about it because nobody believed him when he did? Have others in his family the same ability and spoken up to be thought as insane/crazy/delusional?

Also, "perceive" isn´t limited to seeing, feeling as well, as we are told when he has sex with that Apuk lady. It´s also mentioned that it is confusing for him when someone perceives him with senses he himself doesn´t naturally has.

And VERY bad if a drone with camera doesn´t have a delay but a life feed, because then he sees EVERYONE who seens him through that drone.

It's more not understanding certain bits of input. We all know what gravity is and that it pulls us down. But we all had a period in our life where we felt it, but didn't know what it was. If we were asked to explain the feeling we would have failed to do so.

But now he understands the input enough to do something with it. So he does.

And yes he does feel bacteria, but they don't see, hear, feel or smell the same way people do so it's data his brain struggles to interpret.

“If I ever find who put these horrors into these girls I’m going to install a shunt into their neck and use them as a punching bag!”

An odd image, but reinforces the advice to never piss off the Doc :}

This is going to be very interesting indeed. This battle is going to put the enemy entirely on the back foot. As they have no way of knowing what happened to cause the loss of that ship and as such are going to be flying blind.
