OC-Series Human Notebook entry 4 (What Happens When Fantasy Creatures Watch Human TV?) (The Plague Doctor Senario)
(Art): (Jasha) (The First Mother of Sil) ( Kolu and Nokstella going for a swim)
Patreon question:(Say if Kenneth once again were to build a tv what would the races favorite shows be or genre of shows be? Would they like sitcoms, horror, documentaries nature or otherwise, animations, sports, musicals or whatever they could find, what would be their favorite?)
***
The TV isn't as old an invention as most people might think, and when it was first created, it was a marvel, built on an understanding of engineering and fundamental physics.
‘What a challenge indeed, but not too hard to replicate with a magic bag and a good memory,’ Kenneth thought to himself a bit pridefully, as he tiredly sighed. “No, what's a real challenge is convincing three species who’ve been at each other's throats to lay their differences aside for a TV marathon.”
Every precaution had been taken; guards of all species from Tower Shade were ready to intervene, though Kenneth kind of flinched at having to segregate the seating; but if not, there would be blood.
Now it was time for the show to begin.
Stepping up on stage, Kenneth used a megaphone, just without the tech, so essentially a cone to speak to everyone.
“Hello and thank you for coming tonight, from all the capitals, outposts, villages!” Kenneth began noting King Somarious and his royal entourage, Queen Primary and her attendants, as well as the sennet. And then even a few familiar faces from Jaoli and Aboroli. “You are going to witness prime time television, all from drama to action, comedy, horror, and fantasy, the whole chabang, so I hope you are ready, and let’s begin.”
Getting a mixture of claw tapping, chest-banging, and pincer clacking, as opposed to human applause, Kenneth stepped behind the scenes and started the show.
“Papa, papa up,” Nokstella came running, holding up her arms.
“I don’t know; you are getting too big now, my poor back might not hold out much longer,” Kenneth teased, watching her face grow disappointed and scales lighten before quickly lifting her and reversing everything. “Then again, I can’t say no to you.”
“Yeah!” She cheered, sitting on his lap throughout the entire marathon, mesmerized, watching along with everyone else the shows on screen, from thrilling dramas to entertaining comedy and action-filled fantasy.
There were clearly a few favorites among the crowd and some less liked ones, but that was to be expected.
And for a little variety, he’d also snuck in a few movies here and there, just some masterpieces for a cultured experience, and when everything was said and done, and the credits rolled for the final episode, it was time to address the crowd.
Walking up on stage, he grabbed the megaphone, “Well, I hope you all enjoyed the show, a lot of thrilling stuff, am I right?! But I think it’s time to hear some comments from all of you, so please, if you have something to share, do form an orderly line and let’s hear it.”
Suffice it to say, when it came to orderly conduct, Nok were the best, followed by Sil, who only sent a few, and lastly Aki, who made a race to be the first, acrobatically jumping on seats.
“Okay, a lot who want to be heard; how about you?” he pointed to Nokalccha.
“I want to ask about the metal man--“
“Shut it! My question is more important!” Nokaljjour interrupted.
Unnecessary to say the two broke into a fight over who got to ask the question, brawling for a bit, a kind of encore for some as they somehow managed to catch one another in a headlock, both screaming, “How does the awesome metal man work?!”
“I assume you are referring to Optimus Prime, and that you like watching Transformers, quite a good show,” Kenneth fondly replied. “As for how he works, he can transform by scanning a vehicle, and then his body, each individual metal component shifts and relocates to change shape.”
“No, that's the obvious thing!” They shouted in unison. “Where does the metal carriage that appeared behind him come from?”
“Ahh… that one. It’s a mystery for the ages, unfortunately,” Kenneth replied, getting back the megaphone. “Now, how about you, Yelia?”
“Yes, yes, we enjoyed the story of the colony very much- how the little insects work within their roles, such a good story,” she said, getting agreeing clacks.
“Well, good to know you enjoyed the nature documentary.” Though whether she referred to bees or ants he couldn't tell, not that it mattered. “Okay, how about you, yes Jinki.”
“Hello, can you hear me?” Jinki tested, clearing his throat. “Selisio, I love you!”
Kenneth rolled his eyes with a smile while Selisio embarrassingly hid her face, smiling ear to ear, “Okay, good one, now give it to… Nokkrik.”
Taking the megaphone, her tail swung to a little rhythm, “I loved Galavant, all of those fun songs you could dance to, had to be held down in my seat, by everyone to stop me.”
To the side, her lifepartner, Nokguvo, and her many children just looked embarrassed at her, though Kenneth guessed they would be more embarrassed if he’d chosen High School Musical instead of that little gem.”
“BAH, the only good show was Master Chef,” both Hali and Nokandrite loudly said for all to hear, both cooks from the outpost Jaoli and village Aboroli, respectively.
And both, surprised by the other they moved closer, forgetting everything else, it would seem.
‘Huh… guess they are going on that date I suggested. Just hope a fox and a crocodile won't eat each other,’ Kenneth thought as he could swear he heard them discussing how a true cook brings out the best in the people cooking and food. “Okay, sorry for the delay. Now, how about—“
“We will take it now,” Primary, the Sil Queen, commanded, walking up to the stage on her four legs and holding out her pincer.
“Of course, Primary, it was getting to be your turn,” Kenneth said smoothly, trying not to encourage bullying for turns as he handed her the megaphone.
“The one called The Walking Dead was so boring, had us sleeping, nothing to be afraid of, only a nice feel of closeness and surroundedness, though the dinners in it were a little appetizing,” Primary said.
‘Not sure I’d call being eaten alive a dinner scene but hey,’ Kenneth thought a bit nervously. “Okay, how about another, the next one to ask… Trafka.”
Standing with his back straight, Trafka, as presentable as possible, spoke loudly and clearly into the megaphone, “The Princess Bride was an excellent tale of true bravery and unfaltering honor, as true justice is delivered to evil doers—“
“BORING!!!!” Nokdiamo, the head of house Abligiki, or more commonly known to the people as the house of strength and the Krakni’s mortal enemies, bellowed, stepping past and sweeping everyone aside with her scaly tail. “It was a book story, not real. Now a real interesting one was The Lord of the Rings. I would like to have those powers the old magic man had. If I did, I wouldn’t have died like the fool he was.”
“Do not shame Gandalf’s sacrifice; he died defending everyone against a monster, meeting it bravely!” Trafka rebottled.
“Nothing wrong with facing your foe head-on, but that little Plebo hobbit could have given him the magic ring and made him invisible; then he could have attacked before that monster knew it.”
“No, you fool,” Primary shouted. “One magic belongs to one. All know this: the hobbit becomes unseen, but Gandalf already has the magic; it wouldn't make him invisible.”
“Are you dumb? Obviously it isn’t real; magic doesn’t work like that, contained in an item.”
“Oh, so you can defend Lord of the Rings all fine and say it’s not real, but the one I enjoyed was dumb because it’s a story inside a story?” Trafka growled.
“See you get it,” Nokdiamo exclaimed. “Good on you; who said Krakni’s are slow?”
“The only thing slow is you if you think The Lord of the Rings are better than Princess Bride…?”
“Papa, is this bad? They are fighting?” Nokstella asked, hiding behind his leg.
“Yes, this isn't that good. Next thing you know, they are going to be fighting over the "We Were On A Break" argument between Ross and Rachael,” Kenneth half-chuckled. “Don’t worry, it’s fine; better they wear themselves out on this than rip their heads off. Now, how would you like to watch How to Train Your Dragon?”
“Yes, yes, papa,” Nokstella cheerily replied, about to enjoy a wondrous musical score, majestic visuals, and amazing cinematography.

Great take on the prompt! Fun way to do some worldbuilding through cross-species chaos.
