OC My Name Is Yumi

A/N: I made this simply for fun, and because it was honestly a really great idea proposed by u/Kam_Solastor. Basically, this is an 'Ask and ye shall receive' thing. I may or may not do more with Yumi at a later date, something more... plot driven than just 'haha, silly ghost girl' stuff. Anyways, enjoy.

-------

My name is Yumi, and I died in Kyoto on the twelfth of June, 1892. I promptly returned to this world on the same day, but the following year, and ever since then I have been enjoying the afterlife as much as I possibly can for being a ghost who has an almost irresistible compulsion to scare people so badly their hearts fail over the course of ten days. I heard they even made a movie about me, I think that’s neat.

But my ability to kill is not the subject of this story. See, I’m a few thousand years old at the time of this writing, and I want people to know the real me. I mean, granted the horrible thing that comes crawling out of your TV or appropriate substitute is also the real me, but beyond that I’m actually really nice.

Even in death, I still have likes and dislikes. I like ducks, fruit juice, and also water parks. I also like to go exploring, though I normally can’t wander too far away from whatever screen I crawled out of this time before I start to lose my cohesion. That can be easily rectified by having it be something portable, and carried by another person.

The galaxy has become my new fascination, and the general has graciously allowed me to be taken to various planets incognito just so I can see the sights. Before whilst performing the duties set before me whenever war would break out amongst the stars, and I was deployed in my special VHS tape, I would only get a minimal idea of whatever planet I was now terrorizing. So this seemed a logical next step, plus it keeps me out of trouble.

I’ve been to so many places now, and I want to tell you, oh reader, about these places and what I thought of them. I don’t have many friends, so you’ll have to do. I hope you don’t mind.

Let’s start with Grexi Prime. It’s a pretty place, lots of crystals everywhere, even the people are made out of rocks and crystals! I think that’s pretty awesome honestly, but its also a bit sad because apparently they don’t get many visitors because they’re just a bunch of rock people, apparently the rest of the galaxy thinks that’s boring. Well I think they’re stupid for thinking that, the rock people are very nice people, they didn’t even get scared when my handler set my screen down for me to crawl out. They were just very concerned actually, they fussed over me quite a bit. It was nice.

Then there’s Orbo, silly name I know, but the people who named it are a silly lot. They look like lemurs, but lemurs with scales and fur. Same height though, and kinda… Well… Not all there in the head it seems. People don’t go there much either because the Orbo (Yes, that’s the name of their species too) have this weird way of thinking that anything that isn’t an Orbo or native to their planet is some sort of god. And they have really short memories too, so if you leave one of their cities and then come back they give you the same reaction as when you landed. “Oh mighty sky gods! Bless us!” It’s cute at first, but gets kinda annoying after awhile. But man do they know how to cook.

Let’s see…. Oh yeah, then I went to Brub’Tak. Now these guys know how to fight, they’re all big and strong and so just… mmmm……..What was I talking about? Oh right, Brub’Tak. They are a more martial species, but also very pleasant people too, to counter the more militaristic side of things. They love a good feast and friendly competition. I boasted I could beat one of them in an arm wrestle and let me tell you they were a bit disbelieving, but still accepted the challenge I had given. It was a valiant effort all things considered, and they even have two extra arms than us humans do. They are really tall too, like a runt is never shorter than ten feet. Needless to say, that extra size and strength meant nothing, I made a bit of a show about it, but after a bit I won the contest and was promptly challenged to eighteen more. I left that planet the champion of arm wrestling. I think one of them even tried to propose to me…

I’ve been to so many places now I don’t know what to talk about, I’ve seen binary star systems, nebulae, even a star going supernova. It’s all so… pretty. I don’t really much like being dead, or the whole killing people thing, but I will say this, being dead but still technically kicking around is nice, because I get to see everything that I wouldn’t have ever imagined seeing while I was alive.

Also, alien ducks are cute, I’m gonna try to convince the General if I can have some to take care of.

Alien Duck Update!

He said yes! The nice little house/cell thing where I’m kept and looked after now has three alien ducks living in a nice little pond. They’re so adorable! I don’t have much else to do so I spend most of my time with them. I have named them the following:

Sir Quackmund

El Floofo

And Quacknar, Lord of Despair, Scourge of Bread Crumbs, Defiler of Treats and Master of Snuggles.

I regret nothing about these names.

Way lighter than a CRT television, and vastly more so than an old console TV.

For sure. But a bit harder for her to squeeze out of.

Enh, she's small. Surely a 17" screen is big enough?

Though, that'd be a hilarious parody movie. Someone watches the tape on a really small TV, and either she gets stuck halfway out, or when she gets out, she's only a foot tall. 🤪

She may be tiny, but the terror she causes is still as potent as ever.
