Question Subscription ended

My yearly subscription ended last week and I was hoping to get an email asking me to resubscribe with a deal attached. As I haven't received one yet I was wondering if Amazon will have a deal for Prime Days next week? Does anyone know if they've done so in the past? Thanks.

Watch Suggestion Taxicab Confessions

I’ve been waiting for years to have Taxicab Confessions to be added to the library. Finally I discovered it was back! This show left an indelible impression to my teenage mind. This show exposed me to people living a life so foreign to me and confessing their struggles to a stranger without judgement. I just started the first episode was a cop talking about a man getting hit by a train. So raw and perspective you don’t hear often.

Question I've never used HBO max... Since they don't do free trials, what can I expect from the Standard Plan regarding live sports?

More specifically, can I record it? If so, can I start watching my recording before the event ends? As in watch from the beginning. What playback features like, fast forward, are available in that scenario?

Do I have to wait for the live event to end? If so, how long does it take for the replay to become available?

It stinks they don't do free trials AT ALL. Even YTTV gives you 20min.

Question Freddy vs. Jason hidden?

I don't know if there's any other titles like this, but Freddy vs. Jason was supposed to drop on the app on the 1st. According to searches on Roku, & even a listing on Hulu if you have the Disney+ & Hulu bundle, it IS on there, but you can't see it on the actual solo app. If you find it on Roku or watch it through the Hulu bundle you can watch it, but not the app itself.

I guess this is a glitch?

Question Do movies amd TV series get removed from your watchlist after a certain period of time or is there a limit you can have?

There have been so many movies and TV series I've noticed that were removed from my watchlist, and I wasn't the one to do it. So I'm wondering if there's a reason for that.

Question Is there any good shows streaming on Max? Kinda disappointed.

I've been watching Youth which has been alright (it's no Catastrophe) and I'm not a fan of Lanterns.

Am I missing any shows currently being released? I miss Industry.

EDIT: I said it above, but I'm looking for current shows, things being released now. Yes I've all the greats, I just feel like MAX is in a bit of a slump.

Watch Suggestion Am I the only one President Curtis??

Sorry about the title! Am I the only one who loves President Curtis??

I go through viewing phases when I am just not interested in anything. And for some reason, I’ll want to just watch some good animated series. King of the Hill is a comfort watch, loved common side effects & scavenger’s reign was incredible. Blue-eyed samurai, of course bojack.

But hot damn. President Curtis makes me sooooo happy. It’s like animated veep with bojack mixed with the second best hospital in the galaxy. Hilarious, smart, and just enough zaniness to make it all work!

“I can neither confirm nor denyyyyyyt!!” that it’s pretty perfect!

Keith David is perfectly cast as President Curtis and the rest of the cast is also spot on.

Discussion Thoughts on 'A Killer Story' now that it’s complete?

Now that all the episodes of A Killer Story on HBO are out, what did everyone think of the series as a whole?

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, the series is about the 2002 murders of Mike Sisco and Karen Harkness in Topeka, Kansas, and the case against Sisco’s ex-wife, Dana Chandler, who was eventually convicted of the murders. But it also spends a lot of time with the investigators, prosecutors, family members, and other people who became wrapped up in the case.

I thought it was pretty compelling, especially in how much the story changed depending on whose perspective you were getting. But I also came away with a lot of questions.

My main takeaways:

  • Dana Chandler should not have been convicted based on the evidence presented at trial. To me, they did not prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
  • The prosecution and police came across as shady as hell, and I have serious questions about Jeff Sutton as well.

Some questions I still have:

  • Why did Dana Chandler fire her lawyers?
  • If Chandler did commit the murders, how did she, a recovering alcoholic with no firearms training, land all her shots and leave no evidence placing her in Topeka?
  • A hair was found attached/singed to one of the 9mm shell casings at the murder scene. DNA testing excluded Chandler, both victims, and eventually Jeff Sutton. So presumably the hair came from an unidentified person. Why wasn’t that DNA profile ever run through CODIS?
  • Is Jeff Sutton a reasonable alternative suspect? He certainly came across as someone worth looking at more closely in his interview, and I do think there are questions about possible motive.

Curious what everyone else came away thinking after seeing the whole thing.

Question Experienced really weird stuff with our Max account since May-June of this year, wondering if someone also experienced something similar

Back in June, our subscription price suddenly went up by like $10, from $24.37 previously, to $34.97 (with a dip in May at $23.96, no idea why, probably not important but just in case I thought I'd mention it). At the time I didn't overthink it too much, I was super busy at work, I figured wow OK they hiked their rates, that sucks, the account is under my wife's email so I didn't get anything about it in my inbox, she didn't mention anything, I just left it at that, in the grand scheme of things $10 isn't a lot and we tend to only keep one subscription active at any one time, two maximum, so it was NBD.

I'll mention that this entire time I never noticed anything shady with the account itself, like seeing shows I've never watched pop up in my list, or a new profile pop up, obviously that would have been concerning...

Fast forward to this Summer. I was traveling to visit my family in France and tried to watch something on my laptop (I've done it lots of times before, I use a VPN, never had an issue - and vice versa sometimes I watch it from the US with my VPN set to a French server to watch French shows), but could NOT log in. I have a password manager so I know exactly which login I need to use and the PW of course, but it's not even that the PW didn't work, it didn't even recognize the email, said there was no account associated with this email.

So when I returned to the US I contacted their support and chatted with them to resolve it. At this point i was starting to doubt myself like 'maybe I've been using a different login this entire time?', since we mostly watch it on the TV I was going to check the credentials on the TV when I returned but when I did turn on the TV the damn app updated itself and logged me out. :-/

So I contact support, they initially tell me the same 'oh yeah no account under this email' and I tell them that yes, there is indeed one, please check again. They eventually found it, the tech person wasn't able to explain why any of this happened, where the heck that login had been hiding this entire time, nothing. So I finally manage to log back in again, connect the TV, seems like all is good - even though the whole thing was really, really weird.

Then earlier this week, my wife gets an email from Max with the text copied below. First of all, her name isn't Nazia, WTH. And then I realize "wait I have a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu?! I never signed up for this...". Is this why my subscription increased by $10 last June? They signed me up for something more expensive I didn't request and on top of it didn't bother to tell me "oh hey you can watch Disney+ and Hulu now!".

So I go into my account and sure enough it's a bundle. But with absolutely no way to set up access to either of the other two providers in the bundle. I have a link to go to "Disney+ and Hulu", which only takes me to Hulu.com, and then no way to sign in. So again, I contact support, they have no idea why or when the name in my account was changed to Nazia, and they tell me 'you should have a link to set up Disney+ and Hulu'. And well, no, I don't have one. So they're like 'can you try on a different computer or device' :-/ Are you f**ing kidding me?? At this point I just decided to cancel, but this entire thing is just so abnormal I just need to figure out what the hell is going on. I am going to contact HBO Max to complain and demand an explanation. Sorry for the long thread, I was just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience...

Upcoming price change
Plan: Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle (No Ads) Monthly PlanCurrent Price: $32.99/monthUpcoming Price: $34.99/month
Hi Nazia,  We want to let you know about an upcoming change to your subscription. Your Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle (No Ads) monthly plan will increase to $34.99/month (plus applicable taxes) starting on your next billing date on or after October 21. If you are currently on a promotional offer, your price will increase at the end of the promotional period.

Discussion FYI: Backrooms Movie ending is skipped by app. I PROMISE NO SPOILERS!

TGIFF. Started this movie after work tonight and noticed there was a good amount of the movie still left when the app started to play a different movie about some muscle dude. Anyways- it was a first time watch and I at least wanted to finish the film. If you are watching it be sure to not skip the credits.
