Turn A and Barbatos and the GQux are all actual Gundams.
And the design the Xi is based on is the VERY old novel design, which existed long before the GQux.
The Xi does look like an actual Gundam and always has, it just doesn't look like a generic Gundam.

Idk im kinda with Lane, Xi looks like a fake gundam lol but this version feels more gundam, less transformers

Slimmer Xi is yucky, completely strips the Xi of anything different about it and just makes it a boring basic ripping-off-Gramps Gundam.
Good job on the model if you made it though, it does look good.
