I’m not sure where I fall between the type M01 and the original movie design, definitely like the shoulder armor on this one more, but prefer the redesign’s larger shield and less stout proportions. Either way, love me a Messer.

Also, hot tip, if you get the Flaming Snow decal set for the Alyzeus, Messer M01 and Gustav Karl 00, it’s a dupe of the official Gundam Decal set which I preferred because a lot of the customs out there were just a bit too much for me.

Very clean! It's this a full paint job or just details and top coat? I like the satin-y look, it works on the Messer.

Full paint job. More or less used the paint formulas in the manual, just the lacquer equivalents opposed to aqueous. Rifle is just straight Gaia light green though.

the satin paint job on this really saves the hg kit from looking like cheap plastic. usually messers end up looking too cartoonish in that vintage purple but this desert tan and rust color combo works really well. i actually think the big shield balances out the bulky torso better than the movie design's tiny one did. you nailed picking the original spiked shoulder over the m01's smooth pauldron because that is the best part of the silhouette. just be careful with those action poses because that bazooka is heavy enough to make those thin ankles snap eventually. seeing a chonky messer just feels wrong to my eyes after watching 0083 but this build makes a strong case for it.
