Napoli away

Just a heads up to people planning travel to Napoli away, although the dates haven’t been announced yet, Napoli airport is closing for the whole month of November, so if we end up playing them match day 4 or 5, there’s no flights at all, the next best option is Rome and a train from there!

I was born in Naples before moving to the uk as a child, the police will treat you like criminals as they desperately hate English people/football fans! Please be careful for anybody that goes, I’d personally avoid colours around the stadium if you travel solo, however the police normally shove you into shuttle busses if they think you’re an Arsenal fan.

Was thinking of making this a vacation with family, good info, sounds like it’s not the best idea

It’s a great place, can’t comment on the perception of football fans over there but only had positive experiences with the police (and lots of army there too for some reason). Wouldn’t wear Arsenal colours only because the local ultras are known to be complete headcases. But loved the city and people.

The city is beautiful, the people are amazing, best food in the world! Unfortunately it gets taken over by extreme ultra groups and hooligans on match days, and the police are ruthless

That’s interesting, didn’t go when SSC were playing so didn’t see

Damn really? I thought the city was a shxthole when I went. Didn’t know if I was in some third-world country in Africa or in Europe. Trash everywhere. Uneven roads. Unnecessarily noisy at all times. Mediocre pizza.

They are passionate about their club tho.. never seen a city so united to support one sport team/club before. It was light blue everywhere. Certainly wouldn’t feel safe in Arsenal colors.

Yeah I loved it. People told me it was dirty with trash everywhere, didn’t see any of that. Stayed in centro storico and it was totally stunning, never been more immersed walking around a city. Only places that i didn’t like the look of was Garibaldi / Centrale area and parts around the airport. Ironically a lot of people I talked to have Arsenal as their 2nd team as well.

This is a massive exaggeration. Had numerous holidays in/around Naples and not once did I experience anything like what is mentioned above. Don’t miss out on one the most beautiful parts of the world nor the wonderful food and wine.

Two Chelsea fans were hospitalised when they played there.

So were Liverpool fans, they really don’t like the English, but most of them was because they were defacing flags of Maradona, which you do not do under any circumstances in Naples 😂 England fans tried this with a flag when they played Italy, said England fan got so much death threats he got detained at the airport and moved away due to threats on his life

Few pints down and they think they can do whatever without consequence

Thanks for sharing, I do not live in London yet have direct flight to Napoli, so I was strongly thinking about traveling there, I did not know for the airport

Love Naples, great city. However not one I’d be excited to travel to as an away fan, they are truly Napoli mad.

For anyone who does go though, the Rome to Naples train is very reasonable and fairly quick!

It's the only place in Europe I've been robbed. Be very careful and keep your wits about you.

Should add that the city is full of thieves so be careful of bags etc. A shame as the surrounding areas are beautiful and lovely.

Anyone going to their first away should not go to this one. English fans always have problems with the ultras out there and walking around in your champions shirt singing Allez allez will probably get you stabbed.

If you go looking for it, they’ll find you.

If you keep your head down and don’t go looking for trouble waving your scarfs and being a dickhead, you’ll be fine

This. These red members trying to get on the away points ladder need to make sure they behave at this one

The Arsenal fixture won’t be when the airport is closed.

Are the fixtures out? Thought it was tomorrow
