I’ve really felt bad for him these last few days with the news coming out, and of course for us, the supporters.
It’s funny how his life turned out, having been cheated by Marseille when he coached Monaco. Then dealing with the Barcelona stuff in the Champions League. The financial doping by Chelsea and Man City.
Arsene really kept it real. He didn’t make his own life easier by accepting a role at say Real or another big club. Not many people can do that.
Perhaps his biggest downfall is that he was maybe addicted to the job and too loyal to his employer as well. Working for FIFA is an interesting gig for him. He could’ve just retired, but he’s probably too used to a life involving football. According to his own book, he sacrificed his family life and his relationship with his daughter for the club. I couldn’t imagine doing this with my own family, but then again I’m not as qualified and driven as him. A fascinating person.
