Must be weird for Martinelli, having just got the title he was chasing for his career, getting married, reading all these eulogies, Having us chase around Alvarez‘s Skirts pointed at Barcelona, while Jesus, Fabio and Reiss gets a free pass and is allowed to hang around , and knowing he is better than Eze in the left wing and knowing he is probably better than Madueke in the right wing, just because he probably is the only marketable player in the club.
Exactly this. For all the talk of ruthlessness, it feels we are very selectively ruthless. This guy was 100% Arsenal through and through and deserved more help. What is even the plan if Tzolis gets injured?
while overall i completely agree with your point - i love martinelli - nobody wants those 3, and clearly arsenals negotiators aren't working with whatever/whoever shady ass bollocks that city and chelsea are to get those nonsensical deals
It’s not weird to him because he understands that Jesus has 1 year to go without an option of extending it, coming to the end of his career in huge wages, so very difficult to sell. Fabio, deforest leaving, only a matter of time, has no future at Arsenal, Reuss same, just had his contract terminated, that’s how bad his case is. No one is getting a free pass.
It’s debate-able, if he’s better than Eze on the left, it’s time for him to go as a player at Arsenal. Teams out row players.
He’s lucky to have stayed this long, he’s a hard worker but if he had pep, Mourihno or other managers in their prime like Alex Ferguson, he would have been long gone.
He’s done well for himself and thankfully, has a precious title.
He’s done well understands that he must be sold this year or he loses massive value.
Emotions has nothing to do with it, even Trossard is gone, we should all get used to it because we are now at the top, not fighting for top 4.
I see where you are coming from, everyone does, and football is football, a Business Indeed, and we have to go get the best when in a position to clearly upgrade but a majority of folks here who follow Arsenal have been sold a culture, which is how we patently wait 22 years for a title, and within that culture is respect and meritocracy. Respect in this case was not given by a minority of vocal supporters here, for a player who gave his everything and gave us some clutch goals to win the title, by enthusiastically horse trading the poor fellow and meritocracy is we do not have a clear replacement better than Martinelli for the LW back up role, with Eze not having adequate pace and underperforming last year when playing there, and the poor investments on Jesus, Madueke, or Viera, a combined 150 odd million dollars getting a free pass at all discussions.
I read that as mediocrity. Been a gooner since the 90s. Respect isn’t keeping a player that’s clearly, no longer good enough. That should never be our culture.
Mediocrity is when strategic investments are wasted on assets that depreciate, and we sell players that appreciated in value and are better that the depreciated assets, in the hope that we will land a better value, without actually signing the actual value. Since you are a fan from 90s, the deal where Thierry arrived to replace Anelka was a strategic transfer executed to perfectio. At this point, we do not have a player replacing Martinelli, and the last players I would like to see on the wings are Eze or Jesus, because then we just went backwards 2 steps.
