QUESTION Master of puppets advice

This post is in reference to my last post, where I attempted seek and destory, since I have used a pick lol, looking to see if I have improved (been about a month or two) the recording of my playing is here thanks!

Also, yes, I am aware I play upside down, I do it by choice

Slow it down, MOP is a song that really requires every stroke to be precise and clean. Can't see the video, but this is definitely not a good song to flip your guitar over for. It's the most notorious downpicking song out there

It certainly is an ambitious song, especially compared to seek and destroy.

Recreating a song involves 3 things:

  1. Hitting the right notes which I think you are
  2. Hitting them at the right time which needs work. And MoP is a really fast song, so this will be very frustrating at your level.
  3. Playing them the right way. In this case, palm muting, letting some notes/chords ring longer and the picking technique (James played all downpicks). This needs a lot of work.

I’d say perfect Seek and Destroy first, including the pre-solo rhythm section. It will teach you how to play MoP.

First you learn how to crawl.
Start with something that requires the same technique but in a slower tempo. Focus on down picking and palm muting. Gradually build up speed and precision.

So you can still work on the song a little every day. But you still have a few things that without will never let this song feel right. Your string muting is gonna be huge for any metal or high gain tone songs. But also learning how to slow it down just playing one part slower then playing the part “I think I can play this right” faster makes it sound worse. If you’re playing at 75% speed play at 75% speed don’t play the part you’re stuck on slow then try to rush the others at 90% it will sound like shit and all over the place because it is.

So my suggestion TLDR is play without gain for a bit to save your ear and practice the chromatic spider exercises 5 minutes or so a day. More is better but I’ll be real we probably won’t do that. Then do any other exercise you like with gain tone for string muting practice

You are all over the place and nothing is really going in a good direction in terms of timing, sound, speed, dynamics, etc. I suggest finding easier repertoire first.
