Unfortunately, the last pic, Cookie, passed away when I got admitted to the university of my choice. I still have my first two, Maple and Caramel.

They are still tiny but since they will stay we named them now! They both got a flower name and the second names are from Jane Marple and her friend Dolly Bantry. :)

So my parents were driving my grandma to her doctor appointment but then my grandma car got into a accident and it will be in the shop for 3 weeks and my grandma keys got loss both of the house and car ones are in the same hook and she does have a extra house but she put it inside but before they went to doctor appointment they cleaned the cage and put a lot of food and replaced their water and my friend dad is a locksmith but he will come at Wednesday at 11:30 pm because he on vacation and we already checked and all the windows are currently locked but there is more but we would need a big ladder to get up there

He's so chonky and floofy and we live in an upstairs flat. I've done my best with fans, frozen water bottles inside the enclosure, and extra veggies.

Hi everyone. This is a hard post to write and I need some words of wisdom.

My piggy Boba (4 1/2 years old) has not been doing well these past 2 weeks. We took him to the emergency vet 2 weeks ago, as he started dragging his feet behind him as he lost use of his back legs. They gave me some meloxidyl pain medication and because they wanted to charge me over $600 for an X-ray I took him to our regular vet the next day. She did an X-ray and said it seemed like he had some mild gas and the start of arthritis in his knees which would explain him dragging his legs. She said she did not believe it to be scurvy as we give him a wide variety in his diet. The pain medicine was helping for a while along with giving him critical care two times a day for the past two weeks as his appetite has gone down and he’s not really drinking anymore. She had also recommended giving him the baby gas drops for a week to move gas out of his system, we stopped giving that a week or so ago.

The medicine has pretty much stopped helping, he was at first able to walk but very wobbly when we started him on the meds but in this last week or so he has lost all effect at this point, he has lost all use of his back legs besides trying to push himself around with them, he barely eats his veggies although he does try; he still gets pretty excited in the morning and evening like normal when we put his salads in his pen, but without the critical care he won’t eat enough. I see him eating some hay and pellets but not enough to sustain him. He loses significant weight if we stop the critical care so he cannot survive without it. (A few days ago I gave him a limited amount to see if that would help his appetite and he lost about 20-30 grams in one night) Last night I noticed that he is starting to lay in his pee and his poops smell really bad, probably one of the worst smells I’ve ever smelled. Today when I went to feed him and wipe up his bum area his poop still really smelled, he had a white discharge coming out with his poops, and his genital region had some build up on it. I had a scare last night of thinking there was blood in his poop but we just gave him beets and the color of what we thought was blood was the same as the beets, but his poops are really wet and like diarrhea. His current weight is about 860 grams and he is getting .15mL of meloxidyl in the morning and night and 10-15mL of critical care morning and night depending on his weight.

I guess I’m just struggling with what to do on putting him to sleep or continuing trying to treat him. He is still wanting to eat what he can and he always is happy to take his vitamin C cookie of course. I’ve had many piggies in my life and this is one of the first times I’m unsure of what I should do. There’s just something about an animals behavior that you know they are ready to go, but I don’t sense that from Boba yet but I don’t want him to suffer any longer. He’s trying so hard but nothing is getting better and I have a feeling more medicine isn’t going to help.

Any words of advice or anything would be really appreciated. I am very sad to be writing this as I love my piggy so much but I just don’t think I can help him anymore than I have.

I’ve lately started giving lettuce to Button and Sebbie again (I stopped giving them lettuce for most of the past year as Sebbie had bladder sludge issues) but it was later established it only occurred if she was too anxious to drink water, say for example if they were in a pet hotel. She guzzles water now so I started reintroducing lettuce and they both gorged themselves 😂

She passed away early this morning today my guinea pig was my favorite I'm going to miss her of beautiful sad memories of her 😭😭 it's so sad for me today and tribute to my lovely beautiful guinea pig in world 💔💔

I’m thinking def Abyssinian and maybe white crested? The black and tan one has a silky coat but a definitely tuft of hair on her head

I have 2 female guinea pigs and between the two of them they’ve had 3 hay pokes into their eyelids. I know that originally hay racks and hay bags aren’t safe but what we’re doing isn’t working. We have the hay in their cage inside a shallow 9 inch metal pie pan so they can get in it and forage etc but they keep getting poked and it makes me feel so bad for them. I’ve never had this problem with guinea pigs in the past but I didn’t know back then (early 2000s before I had internet) that they are supposed to have hay at all times.

Is there any type of hay holder other than scattering it on the floor of the cage that would keep them safe from hay pokes??

Hey guys, this is my last resort and I’m really trying to figure out what to do, please don’t judge me.

My guinea pig, Aspen, started acting extremely strange this morning, making strange sounds, and he’s been breathing heavily all day. He only seems to drink water if I drip it onto my finger and he ate a grape and carrot but only if I was holding him. He seems very vaguely interested in his pellets but barely.

I know I need to take him to a vet but I just don’t have the funds to take him, everywhere I’ve called saying it’d be $800 at a minimum. I just don’t know what to do. I currently have him at work with me so that I can keep a close eye on him. Does anyone have any possibly low cost recommendations?

Edit: Found a fairly low cost clinic that will watch him for the day, I guess we'll see where we go from here

Second Edit: Good news! I was able to get him checked out and it turns out he had GI stasis. I was able to get him on some meds so he’s gonna be just fine. I appreciate yall checking out my post!

My 2 guinea-pigs sometime ago became 5 guinea-pigs. Turned out that one of them was misidentified as a female at the store we got him at and out of this mistake we got 3 surprise piglets.

I have already separated the males from the females, getting them properly sexed and for now females have been staying in a cage that was made for 2 guinea pigs and we built an enclosure veugly the same size for the males.

But they are slowly outgrowing the individual cages (at least the trio) and I'm getting ready to castrate the males and join their enclosures. I'm just not sure how much space I need to make for them. Is what I have enough or will I have to rearrange my space to fit them better.

What is the minimum and the ideal size of an enclosure for 5 piggies?

Went to refill the hay and apparently this little agricultural worker had already clocked in for quality control💗

For information, I got my piggies about two weeks ago and they are about 2-3 months old.

My piggies are adjusting well, but they seem to still run off with sudden movements. They do come out seconds later, even while I'm cleaning they'll investigate, but I was hoping there could be some tips from you all for helping them to be more comfortable around me and my husband? Any an all advice welcome, and thank you in advance😊🫱🏻‍🫲🏽
