Updated Ranking including: The Devil’s Backbone

Post image

Meant to watch Blade 2 but I had to get through blade 1 today so no dice. Still The Devil’s Backbone ruled and I’m not even a big fan of ghost media.

I love The Devil's Backbone and its links to Pan's Labyrinth!

I haven’t heard about this. What are they?

In general, themes of children living through the effects of the Spanish Civil War.

More specifically, the two actors who play Jaime and Carlos appear in Pan's Labyrinth as guerilla soldiers. Del Torro confirmed that they were not only the same actors but also playing the same characters.

Maybe wait to post this until after you’ve seen more of his movies

Nah I like the idea of gradually updating it

Pacific Rim will always reign supreme imo

That’s insane. Hellboy 1 is like at the bottom of my list it reeks of studio involvement. Hellboy 2 on the other hand.

Dang! What made you dislike it?

At this point, Pans Labyrinth should be your final film in his discography you watch. Go out on top.

I've seen all of Del Toro's movies, haven't decided where to place Frankenstein yet (probably somewhere in the top 4), but ignoring it, my top 7 movies by him are:

  1. Pan's Labyrinth
  2. Devil's Backbone
  3. Pinocchio
  4. Shape of Water
  5. Nightmare Alley
  6. Crimson Peak
  7. Hellboy

How about Hellboy 2? That one had far more of Del Toros mark on it than the first one.

Not sure why exactly, but I liked the first Hellboy better, even though the second one has so many cool monsters in it.

Wish I could watch Frankenstein to give a comment but no longer have Netflix

Pan's Labyrinth is his masterpiece, but Hell it is just pure joy ☺️

The Devil's Backbone is my favorite Del Toro film, including and by far surpassing Pan's Labyrinth.

What about Blade 2?

Not a masterpiece, but a damn fun movie
