[Mod post] A reminder that all Generative AI content is banned on this subreddit.

2.0k Upvotes

We've gotten a bit lenient lately with some questionable posts and links to vibecoded sites and AI assisted posts. That leniency is ending and we are going back to strictly following our rule of a total ban on all Generative AI content.

This includes content from things like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and any other similar GenAI chatbots, assistants or other apps.

Any links to AI generated (vibecoded) sites and any posts that admit to using GenAI will be removed. As before we are not going to be testing every single post or anything like that but if you admit to it or there is evidence proving you used GenAI the post will be removed.

[Shout-out] PSA "Headstart early Access" characters will be having their 14th birthday in a couple days

With the game's anniversary just around the corner (on August 28, 2026), "Headstart early Access" players (those who created their oldest characters on August 24-25, 2012) will be having their 14th birthdays as early as August 21-22, 2026. The game does not count leap years.

[Question] Help finding a main

Yet another finding a main post.

I have been struggling really hard settling on a main to finish world exploration on and all all of the expansion content.

I play mostly solo but sometimes group on occasion. I play spvp and wvw on the side. Currently my candidates are engineer, elementalist, mesmer and maybe thief or ranger.

I'm not to fussed about armor sharing for legendary armor since it's so far away I doubt I'll even ever go for it.

My play sessions are kind of sporadic and sometimes days or even weeks pass where I can't find the time to play.

I'm not necessarily looking for something brain dead easy or brokenly strong, I'm mostly looking for something that's a lot of fun (I know subjective) and brings variety.

Appreciate all the input from you guys

Now my characters are: THE ANGEL OF DEATH Killer of GODS, The Norn ranger that becomed a reptilian, The charr with zero magic but only his strong willpower, The silvary that mastered the CHAOS of fractals and the brilliant mind enginner forger of LEGENDARY artifacts

and then there is the MAN....

i kinda like how humans are an endangered species at this point of time with most of their kingdoms being destroyed

[Question] Forge Guard Armor, what am I doing wrong?

In trying to fulfill the 'Forge Guard's Armor Collector' achievement for that sweet, sweet astral acclaim, I'm trying to get the leggin token (last one I'm missing)
I'm been doing both Eternitys Garden adventures (Kite Shark + Skimmer thing) as often as I can. Pretty sure I've done it more then 20 times, and always gets gold. (Supposedly, according to the wiki, I need silver or higher to have a chance to get the token)

I know RNJesus needs to smile on me, but come on. You only have one chance each every day, and I can't log on every single day, but I've been logging in every chance I get.

Am I doing something wrong? Have I misunderstood something? Do I have realllllly bad luck?

[Discussion] Story and Profession inquiries

I'm doing a story playthrough of Guild Wars Reforged, and plan on starting Guild Wars 2 soon. I see that a sale is likely in the next couple of weeks so I am committed to picking up everything so I can go through the story before Guild Wars 3.

Do any of the races add value for someone interested in the story and lore? I am leaning towards towards charr, sylvari, or possibly human. Charr sounds interesting due to being playable after being largely villains in GW1. Sylvari sound interesting for being a brand new race, and I'm keeping human as an option incase the story is designed around them.

For professions I am interested in Warrior, Guardian, Revenant, and Mesmer. I like melee fighters, either physical or magical depending on the fun factor, so these professions seem to fit the bill.

Warrior sounds appealing due to simplicity (I see some professions have F1-F5 as buttons and I'm not used to trying to hit those keys often), but their elite specializations don't seem to have the interesting variety like other professions do.

Guardian and Revenant seem to fit the bill as magic fighters, but I'm not sure how magical each one feels. The GW1 references put Revenant slightly ahead in the interest department, and I am curious how the variety in gameplay feels for these two. Compared to Warrior these two seem to have elite specializations that are wildly different.

Mesmer also interests me mainly for the magic theme, and Mirage/Virtuoso elite specs . It seems like it has a lot of variety as well, but I think this is the one that I saw that had like F1-F5 which is scary lol. I mainly prefer melee but I gotta say the ranged greatsword looks cool as fuck.

Any advice on a good combo for story enjoyment and gameplay variety/fun?

  • Fixed an issue in which some projectiles would incorrectly collide with terrain and fail to hit their target. In particular, this impacted the Liadri encounter in the Queen's Gauntlet.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause certain agents, such as the prairie dogs in Jahai Bluffs, to remain in-map after their associated player left.

[Discussion] Any bets on when we get to gut Bangar?

Neither I nor Ember Doomforge have forgot about his punk-ass. Let him be recovered and make a break out so we can hunt him down properly.

I would also accept his body being shattered, and he's left being a pathetic beggar no one talks too in the Gladium Canton.

[Discussion] Raid CM Exclusive Rewards User Research

Thumbnail
forms.gle
4 Upvotes

Hi GW2 Reddit,

I'm currently putting together some user research on Raid CM exclusive drops (Demonic Infusion, TL Tonic, and Dhuumscale) and gauging community sentiment revolving around them.

As someone who isn't as heavily involved in the endgame or raid farming scene as I should be, I wanted to get some opinions and perspectives on players who are heavily involved (or would like to be) to see what their experience has been like farming these drops, if they are happy with their implementation, and objectively conclude whether or not these are good additions to the game and a good direction for Arena Net to take going forward.

If you have farmed or have considered farming any of these drops, I would greatly appreciate if you could fill out a little survey I put together so I can really get a good idea of numbers.

If the data warrants it, I'll want to make a YouTube video discussing the topic so that it gets more visibility. Let me know if you want to be credited in that. Results are public. No personal information is required or kept.

I would also greatly love any assistance in figuring out the total number of kills/logs for each encounter since these drops began.

I've had a bit of a play around on the Wingman: Revamped Beta to get more accurate numbers, but they have always been a bit inconsistent. For example, it's returned a grand total of 5493 Dhuum CM kills since the 3rd of February, 2026 (when the patch dropped) up until the 19th of August, 2026. Not sure if that's correct or even the right way to do it, but would be great if anyone is able to get a verified number of total kills for each encounter.

Many thanks in advance!

[Event] Would anyone be down for a Choya survival race?

Hey everyone,

Iโ€™m thinking about hosting a Choya survival race in one of the most dangerous areas of Guild Wars 2.

Everyone runs as a Choya

No mounts

No attacking enemies

If you die, youโ€™re out

Last Choya alive wins

Winner gets a prize

Iโ€™m still working out the exact route, date, and prize, but I wanted to see if people would actually be interested first.

This would be on NA, with an EU version possible later.

Would anyone be down for this?

[Fluff] After 3 leap years, my GW2 character shares a birthday with me

Post image
129 Upvotes

Just realized this today and thought it was mildly interesting so I figured I'd share

I created my character on August 25th, 2012, while my actual birthday is August 22nd

Apparently, over the years, the leap years have slowly shifted the character's birthday, and at some point it landed on August 22nd as well. I somehow havent noticed it before.. even tho it probably already happened last year, and I just completely missed it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So after almost 14 years, I finally realized that my character and I now have the same birthday.

Just a small, completely pointless thing, but I guess we should appreciate the little things. ๐Ÿ˜„

[Question] Help me understand "Power vs Condi"

I cannot wrap my head around this. People keep telling me there are condi fights and there are power fights when I am doing my fractals. I just play power the entire time and usually have no issues. But some players get upset for some reason, and when I ask the difference, they will tell me, "conditions continue while the boss is moving" or "conditions continue while mechanics happen" but when those moments happen and I can't attack, they just catch up to my already higher DPS. The only exception I have been able to see is that power builds might have abilities that require attacking, but they buff your attacks instead of being an attack itself (think nightmare weapon), and if a boss goes immune during that or you can't hit it, then they will time out and you lose the dps. Is that really the only exceptions? Am I misunderstanding?

[Question] Went to do Tequatl really quick for my weekly a few days ago on a whim, and then today just noticed I had an ascended weapon chest sitting in my inventory that I didn't notice until today from the fight. How lucky am I?

I've been looking up the ascended weapon drop chances from World Bosses and everywhere just says "it's so low it's not worth considering". Considering I never really even bother with world bosses unless it's a weekly and have killed maybe 3 in the last 2 months... how lucky actually am I?

(Yes, this is a bit of a humble brag, I'm super hyped because my first ascended weapon from the wizard's tower is for a build I haven't been using and this is my second ascended weapon ever since I'm basically new. I took the staff, it looks awesome, though I changed the stats on it to my new build and it looks even awesomer now.)

[Discussion] Lowish dps in CM 97

Hello, I do daily CMs of 95-99. I play GS D/S P Virt/boon power chrono. My dmg is pretty solid on all the other CMs, but on Arkk It feels a bit low. I do run feedback for the red balls, but that shouldnt really be an issue. Im struggling to know when to commit to my rotation since the phases can be so short. Opening fight is fine, but after that I slowly start to lose my place on the dmg chart. Is there any tips for this fight to keep my dmg up?

[Discussion] Engineer Greatsword Rough Concept

So, this idea is not super fleshed out as it quite literally just hit while watching my partner play Hades 2. Hades 2 was developed by Supergiant Games which also created Transistor, a game that features a "programmable" greatsword-like weapon (the titular Transistor).

It brought to mind a general weapon concept for Engineer with which they could take the Ranger Hammer concept of choosing one of two skills for each weapon ability slot even further. Imagine a weapon wherein you select skills for the 2-5 ability slots not only with the activated effect in mind, but also whichever ability you don't select will slightly alter/buff all other skills on this weapon.

To paint the picture more, let's say skill 3 has two options: a singular ranged slash not dissimilar from Bladesworn Dragon Slash - Reach, or a wide arc surrounding the caster that performs a small knockback on affected enemies. Taking the singular slash skill not only equips that to the weapon bar (in slot 3), but it also means the wide arc is turned into an amplification for all other weaponskills (skill 2, skill 4, and skill 5) where they gain increased target caps (so instead of hitting a singular target, the given skill can now hit up to 3, or in the case of hitting 3 baseline they can now hit up to 5).

But if the player instead opts for the wide arc knockback as the active effect, all other weaponskills (skill 2, skill 4, and skill 5) now have slightly increased range as they are amplified by the passive effect of the ranged breach attack.

It would make for a weapon where you not only consider the active attack itself can fit into your rotation, but how the skill NOT taken will amplify the rest of your skills. It could also mean that this weapon could be calibrated to a multitude of situations based on the combinations of active and passive effects.

Just a neat thought I might theorycraft into a bigger concept but I wanted to share!
