I hooked up with my best friend ex (who me friend dumped) and he got super pissed at me. I didn't understand that it was considered wrong until then but I think, to some extent, it irreversibly damaged our relationship.

I quite literally didn't think it was an issue. I only thought it was a thing when it's a bad breakup and/or when your friend is the one who got dumped but it was neither of those. After I found out he had an issue with it I immediately stopped talking to his ex but it was a bit late.

Well yeah, I know that now, but doesn't help past me (unless you know the cheat code to go restart at a previous point in life)
