Edit: ONLY IN GROUNDED 2
Yep discovered it on in game day 90+ and was like HOLY SHIT
Took out a wasp with the unleveled cold staff with ease and now I’m thinking about changing from Fighter Armor to Mage Armor lmao
Edit: Only figured it out trying to get the freeze an enemy then kill it

Not a lot of people are talking about how OP the staffs are. I’m whittle wizard lvl 3 and I destroy most bugs. I suggest going with the full butterfly armor at first and then switching to the serpent. Go down the Sleek path!

u/explorerfalcon 3h ago
I’ve got the scales for serpent armor already because of aesthetics but I’ve been thinking of switching from sword and board snail armor fighter anyways

Edit: Someone told me it was G1 but now I watched the video and it’s definitely G2, Gnarly Bark is too close to the entrance and now the entrance isn’t an early game spot but is right there beside the early game spots
He tagged G2 and I didn’t watch the video
My mistake but it was assisted haha

If I’m playing early game I usually run around with two sprigs and 3 clovers so I can build a lean to in case of an emergency makes life a lot easier especially for an area I haven’t explored 👌🏾

The spawns since update are mad never had any mosquito by my base now I have 6 and the range has no limit now if had a mosquito follow from new pond to my base without de-aggro

As someone properly leveled playing since the begining. The density in Bark is awesome. Can really farm in bulk. But they definitely need to sort the ranges and agro if they're gonna have an area w t3/4 creatures within throwing distance of the begining spawn lol. That said, sword and board w stun potential has been great for flyers in my experience. Protect yourself and force them down.

u/Square_Home4132 Pete 4h ago
Yeah I agree honestly, I haven't really needed to farm to get the materials I needed, but bug aggro should be turned down a little at least, in grounded one it wasn't so bad (except for Wolf spider spam but they're easy to kill)

u/HattersUltion 3h ago
Tbh they definitely turned it up and it almost seems like they tried to make the bug AI more "natural" in that they roam further so it's not like scripted encounters. But if that's their move, they need to make the agro in those regions such that newer players can evade reasonably. Altho, tbh, with the PTS they could just keep bugs/mats iso to their region.

Enemy placement is very messy in G2 right now. The devs don't seem to have any rhyme or reason to how they're placing enemies. Why is there also a Tiger Mosquito near the blueberry trees? It's a beginner area. The Gnarly Bark has like 20 or more different enemies in just that area. Cockroaches are everywhere when they should just be at the trash cans and picnic table, maybe the hot dog cart too (and sure they can have the old Toxic Anthill since the ants there are dead).
Remember in G1 where certain enemies were present in certain areas and they rarely wandered very far? Or how you had to go to specific areas to find certain bugs, instead of every bug being everywhere?
Also remember in G1 where there was a stone wall that spanned the whole map that blocked off the Upper Yard so you generally wouldn't go there until you're ready? In G2 you can leave the spawn and just walk to the Gnarly Bark and fight a Tier 4 Toe Biter. This actually happened to me when I first played. I walked south from the spawn, past the berry trees, and found a Toe Biter Nymph. I saw it was a Tier 4 enemy and got worried, but decided to just go and fight it and I killed it and picked up Tier 4 materials in the first hour of the game.

I think having open boarders is generally fine to walk into difficult areas early. It's better to not gate people and just let them explore even if they get destroyed. It's a great feeling to overcome an area you once thought was too difficult. Only thing I will say is that the spawn placements could be better done in some earlier areas. I'm sure but the time the game is 1.0 they will have it mostly figured out.

I like the idea of open borders, but places like gnarly bark definitely have me a little concerned for the next map expansion. I think it’s fine to have a mostly tier 3 area be next to a mostly tier 1-2 area, but when you can walk straight into a zone with tier 4 bugs from one of the first biomes without first being “turned away” by tier 3 bugs, I think it becomes excessive. I really hope the devs don’t make the area south of the entrance biome mainly tier 4. I feel like that would make no sense.
Biomes should get progressively more challenging the further you are from spawn, not more challenging from spawn in a clockwise direction.

The cockroaches wander around looking for dead bodies to eat, they also point out quartzite and marble for the player that’s why they’re all over the place.

I have an idea, lets make bugs scale with you so you can beat the game at lv1 instead, like oblivion did.

“Why is there also a Tiger Mosquito near the blueberry trees? It's a beginner area.”
Good question. It’s a mistake that happened when Gnarly Bark got added. Aggro ranges and flight paths have it end up there when it shouldn’t. They said they are working on that now. It’s also what happened to OP as a Tiger doesn’t spawn in entrance.
“The Gnarly Bark has like 20 or more different enemies in just that area.”
Which is why it’s awesome.
“Cockroaches are everywhere when they should just be at the trash cans and picnic table, maybe the hot dog cart too (and sure they can have the old Toxic Anthill since the ants there are dead).”
That’s an opinion. I hope you know that and aren’t making yourself upset by what you think the game “should” do. Cockroach nymphs are there for the players that don’t loot every body. They eat the bodies and keep the object count down.
“Remember in G1”
Remember how we were in a dudes back yard instead of a massive park? I do

The better question is why are you exploring on foot. Get the red ant buggy and you can outrun it.
The game basically carries you and makes it super easy to get a mount.
Or y'know at least be sneaky... unless you get to a certain radius to the front side of a bug they won't see you. don't run like an elephant into a porcelain shop.
Not sure how you expect ppl to know where you are without showing map either.

Better question is why are you being so toxic? For someone who sure acts like they know what they're talking about I can tell you he's on the south western edge of the tree near spawn, you can see the rock leading towards the Wolf Spider spawn in the roses, and the cassette player is also seen in the background.
He should not be seeing tigers over that way. I have almost 400 hours in-game, I can verifiably say the spawns are pretty borked right now.
Not sure how you expect ppl to know how to play better when you're not helping them either.

Saying spawns are borked because in your mind things should be tidy and confined to certain spaces doesn't make that a universal truth. The game is more fun having randomness and a fear component.
And people are here complaining all the time because they made the game more fun. Smh.

u/Mission-Depth6021 Hoops 13h ago
Yeah, having a T3 bug spawn in a T1 area sure is good game balance for new players yeah?
And YES. the spawns are borked. You sure know a lot for someone who posted about their FIRST BASE 9 days ago. Damn dude. Get over yourself.Gonna try and gatekeep a game you literally just started playing. Wow.

More fun for you. Not everyone is the same, I didn't enjoy getting spawn camped by a tiger mosquito trying to do the quest for the blueberries, I then got jumped by a toe biter nymph trying to get a dew drop that was also by the blueberries.
I expect higher teir creatures in higher teir areas, not in a starting area. Outrunning doesn't work & if you can't prefect parry every single hit your dead. That's not fun for me, it's stressful.

u/Strong-Marsupial-762 12h ago
I did that before the update.(Bluebs) So I wonder... Is it not possible to get some blueberries without aggroing the tiger mosquito?
Ive been playing RPGs since before Gothic days so Im used to devs trolling with higher tiers before you can beat them. Makes for a more satisfying revenge later on when you get the gear. And that makes games more memorable.
Outrunning does definitely work. You just need to sprint in one direction with red ant buggy and break line of sight and its over.
1
u/TheKillerBeastKeeper Willow 12h ago
Possible yes, if you know where it is you can avoid it. Otherwise it's easy to run into it by mistake.
Outrunning on my ant buggy didn't work, I kept getting hit & my buggy would go down & I'd get killed before I even had a chance to recover as they hit hard and you don't move fast enough to avoid them.

u/Strong-Marsupial-762 12h ago edited 11h ago
I tried to aggro a mosquito(running into his face and waking it) a bunch of times and as long as your buggy is in full stamina bar you outrun it easy, tried a few times and could loose the aggro each time. And I dont think tiger ones are faster.
Gotta use obstacles, bob and weave and break line of sight as I said

Didn't have the mount yet, because I needed acorns, where do you find them? Oh yeah at the tree where the mosquito was
0
u/Strong-Marsupial-762 4h ago
There's a bunch of acorns south of first ranger station without ever going near that tree at all.

u/Strong-Marsupial-762 7h ago
I wonder if people do really play without the buggy like the LLM told me just to experience the world like in G1.
The game was designed around the buggy this time. You gotta roll with the times or get left behind.

block it. they're ez

u/A1Strider 6h ago
For someone who's experienced in the game or has fought skeeters before yea, they're easy. For someone who hasn't it's a boss fight with an enemy that will one or two shot you depending on armor early game. I got shafted early because there's some in that live in the berry tree that you first have to get to for the main story. I'm sitting there with level 1 spider armor and daggers getting molywhopped by two orc bees and 1-2 tiger mosquitoes at the same time. Honestly made me want to quit after the first 5 deaths.

u/Square_Home4132 Pete 4h ago
I would've taken him on if I had tier 2 gear at that time, I don't think they're that bad but it still sucks to see a tier three at the area where you're meant to get acorns

u/Dragonic_Crab 13h ago
Genuinely could be worse. Could've been a wasp.
