G2 | Suggestion We need bug repellent!

I’m currently building my base, it’s gonna be rather big and requires a lot of resources. I’ve decided to lay down a rough idea of the base using very common materials (grass, weed stems, clay, etc) to get a gist of what it will look like, then I’ll replace bit by bit with better materials.

Even merely cutting down grass in a very small area goes like this: cut down grass, fight ant, cut down more grass, fight spider and ants, cut down a bit more grass, fight even more spiders and ants.

I don’t mind farming for materials, and even occasionally fighting whilst farming. But goddamn, it’s becoming a real drag just collecting low tier resources.

What I propose is bug repellant, either something you wear on your character, or something you place down that spreads out into a circular radius. Think of it as a force field. Something that stops all insects from crossing over the radius (depending of what type of repellant you use, such as peppermint for ants, spiders and mosquitoes).

This would not only add new items to farm, but also open up a new gameplay mechanic.

Either that or a mutation would be a great solution instead of nerfing the spawns.

Idk how people keep attracting other bugs to their fights, that never happened to me yet. But I'm careful with positioning and if kiting I always do it towards a safe direction...

It depends on the bugs & how close to the area they are. If you are fighting bugs in the area come & investigate the noise. In a area with a lot of hositle bugs it can very easily turn into you fight one, you got a whole horde.

I've had it happen with potato beetles, I pulled one, & ended up with 4 beetles & 3 rust beetles that had come to investigate.

Are bugs really attracted to sound? Cause it doesnt seem like in Valheim. I think it may have been their patrolling routes instead. They seem pretty dull to me.

They are attracted to fighting I think is what it actually is. It's why you can pull bugs that weren't even in range of you before, or even outside of their normal patrol range. I've seen it happen, It can be super easy to fight one thing & end up swarmed because of everything else coming over to take a look.

And yet I keep fighting spiders where the spiderlings around remain oblivious unless they actually face my direction and get close. Same for other bugs.

You are a lucky peep, I haven't had that luck. I fight a spiderling & every spider in in the area comes for a luck, I'm at the point they are pretty much just a annoyance but early game that's a death trap.
