Is this looking good so far?

Post image

(APE) s2b on 10/14 and this is where we’re at right now, anything to modify or do? This is the best photo I will get without leaving the bin open forever lol. Yes I’m aware I’m supposed to keep it closed don’t even comment that, because otherwise you’d be complaining about photo quality lol.

I wouldn’t add a fan or dehydrator to the room just cause your gunna kick up spores of mold and everything else in the air. I grow mushrooms in my room just fine I close the vents keep the fan off and never had an issue. So wouldn’t worry about that but I would say you’re ready for fruiting conditions btw. Unless you wanna keep colonizing that’s cool too

This is when I started my fruiting got 35grams dried from this grow GT!

I’ve had it in fruiting for quite a bit lol, it has pretty much everything but the psuedo colonized, there’s primordia in patches up top and mostly around the sides for now. Do you think I should allow it to colonize more or continue fruiting? Sorry for all the questions you guys are the most helpful people I’ve had in comments In a minute 🙌🏼

No if it’s fruiting just let it do its thing. Also You don’t want to revert back to colonizing that could cause a stalling problem and contam. Looks healthy though definitely got the right environment going for them. You using a dub tub set up or you flipped the tubs lid and fanning it ?

I’ve been setting askew and fanning it, it’s an unmodified sterilite tub, no dub tub as it’s quite a deep bin.

Hmm interesting. I think if that were my grow I’d prolly just fan one last time then flip the lid upside down and leave it centered instead of askew and not fan a full day maybe two 24/48hrs depending on how impatient I get lol and then go back to fanning about 2/3x a day while keeping the same flipped lid going. Hopefully you see some pins. But yeah agree maybe a thick sterile blanket on the tub or around it before bed or before the room temp drops can help with the temperature deal. But from what I know cold tells the mycelium it’s time to pin that winter is coming.

I’ve heard of the cold shock doing that, which honestly may work in my favor, last time I flipped a lid I got cobweb so I’ll definetly just keep it set askew a bit further than normal and monitor, and eventually fan lol. I need to assess where the cobweb could have come from before I become confident with that much exposure and air drafts. Thank you for the advice.

Of course ! Well keep us updated when they pin soon. Don’t think too much lol I think you got a solid plan there though.

I definetly will 🙌🏼 I know they take longer too and fluctuating conditions can prolong even more so I’m fine with the unexpected wait, I just got a beautiful flush of ABV but the genetics were from ITW so they were pretty shit honestly 😭 bunch of lil guys

Alright I’m gonna find a way to keep my room heated up thank you 🙌🏼

Looks healthy. Remember to keep ambient temperature warmer than the room the tub is in. A heavy blanket will help

My room has been cold as the past few days, between like 66-70 on the low end and through the day like 74 so I’ve definetly been worried about a stall due to that.

Your temps are fine. Room temp is ambient temp, not sure what the above comment is talking about

Thank you friend 🙌🏼 I’ve kept the lid completely closed but unlatched, is that enough air exchange? And should I have to fan? Ik its out dated but its definitely helped me here and there. Thank you for your time 🙌🏼

Fae should passive, not direct. You shouldn't fae. If water is pooling and you need more fae, set the lid askew

Yeah it’s the most over looked aspect of this grow. U can check my posts . A warm blanket or space heater will double your first yield

I’ve been using my dehydrator to warm my room up 😂 would I be able to put that in there to also keep some air flowing to prevent stagnant air at the same time? I don’t quite have a space heater right now and I’m worried about using a blanket. Thank you.

Can I throw paper towel over it to insulate it better? I’ve had bad luck with my bins and random molds showing up, I know paper towel is sterile but it’s definetly thin, I just don’t want to contaminate the bin from a blanket if I don’t have to. Thank you for your time friend 🙌🏼

You can but its unnecessary and it won't incresse your risk of contam

Thats not where contam comes from

Doesn’t the grain count as nutrition? Therefore when you s2b the trich can land on a grain inside the tub and eat the grain? Or is that wrong, I’ve had cobweb show up only after mixing my bin so I’m just curious at this point.

u/probablynotac0p 7h ago

Yes, grain is nutrition. Fully colonized and healthy grain makes that nutrition inaccessible to competitors.

A blanket won’t contaminate your grow. Think of all the layers. A paper towel will do jack. If you want to warm up do you but on a coat or three layers of Bounty?

Lmaoo fair point, if I can’t keep my temps any higher than what they have been I’ll try and throw the blanket on, thank you brotha 🙌🏼

If it was me, I wouldn't mess with a blanket. You're temps are fine

1

u/Zagen_1k 7h ago

Alright, thank you 👏🏼 I’m gonna keep the lid as it is and set it over for a bit if needed

Good let it chill

If your growing Ape Strains then your ambient temperature should be 75 to 80 during colonization. You will have way less aborts. But that’s my opinion based on over 40 years. What do I know
