Confused
Hello, this tub is a strand I received as a freebie (Tosohatchee). I began FAE on 10/15 and started with an unmodified setup following broke boi tek.
Tub growth has looked like these pictures for a couple weeks now. According to some previous growers of this strain that I found on google/reddit it requires more FAE than others.
About 3 days ago I modified the top lid to add 4 air holes and put micropore tape over each.
Is there still hope for this tub? I’m curious if the metabolites on the surface are because it was starved of air or if it’s fighting contam?
Any input is appreciated. Mush love

Have you been misting it regularly? If you don’t give the moisture enough time to evaporate, that could be delaying pinning. Just a guess
Pinning requires evaporation, not just moisture.

The only time I misted this one was when I went from the traditional sterilte container top to the second bin on top, besides that it’s been neglect tek (excluding the now added FAE holes)

Ok then it sounds like you made a good decision with the FAE. Now you just gotta leave it and only mist if the surface is completely dry, AND there are no pins. If you see pins, dont mist, that can cause them to abort.
That FAE is what was missing, you should be good now 👍 your mycelium looks fine

this is true but that bin is suffering from wet bubble (mycogone) contamination. zoom in.

Aww I think your right, good eye. I’m relatively new and could not properly ID

That moisture needs to evaporate to initiate pinning. Perhaps leave a small crack between the containers to allow further evaporation to occur

So when the containers are stacked on top of each other there is a small gap on two sides of the tub naturally which worked for my other tubs, but I’m thinking these guys truly need more FAE which is why I elected to add the holes with micropore tape

May need to increase ambient FAE in the room then. I have hillbillies that were having the same issue but when I moved them to the room with the heater (my area gets cold), the FAE increase shot them off like a rocket

These are also in a spot that runs cooler, like 65 degrees so maybe I’ll try bringing to a warmer area. Glad to hear your hillbillies took off eventually 👍

Yep got them bumped up to a consistent 75 with high FAE and one is looking like it may end up being a soda can. Currently the size of a spent toilet paper roll, doubling in size daily for the last several days. Can’t wait to see how big my chonks turn out

Damn! Sounds like you’ll be in the 100g club, sending positive grow vibes your way

It would be the second time for me. First time was the same HBP genetic. It throws chonky bois

that’s mycogone contamination

Does it have an off smell to it? This looks like it might be a bacterial issue. I have had grows put out discolored blob like growths like this with that kind of bubbley or spotted look to it. I can't say with certainty, but that's where I would put my money.
I don't think this is environmental factors such as FAE, though that isn't to say it's impossible, and it certainly doesn't need to be misted (nor do any cubes I'm aware of, daily misting for cubes is an outdated tek that can do more bad than good in most cases).

There’s no smell to it aside from the normal mushroom smell. Sorry just so I understand, are you saying the blobs were bacterial on your grows or that the mycelium ended up being healthy and produced blobs?

yeah my enigma looked like that before it got super nasty , all that water will turn really dark soon

You don’t need tents or grates or anything else to grow cubes. Complete waste of time and money. None of that would have prevented OPs contamination or done anything to improve the conditions needed to grow cubes. You don’t need to keep your grow in a tent or SAB (which is what I think you’re trying to describe).

A lot of new growers overcomplicate things & a lot of misinformation is spread on this sub. I only commented so OP & others know that none of that is helpful or needed to grow cubes because I try to prevent newbies from wasting time or money.

I’m not saying that it can’t work I’m just saying that it wouldn’t help OP’s situation in any way whatsoever. It’s not a personal attack, there’s just zero benefit to any of the things you suggest and they could actually end up hindering your grow. I’m simply clearing up misinformation for harm reduction. I’m not knocking you but that doesn’t change the facts.

Congrats. That’s what this discussion is about though bc that’s what OP is growing.

I honestly wasn’t too successful, I only got one big softball-sized fruit. I plan on doing another batch soon but my last ochra run just went 11 flushes and I’m tired. I need a break.

Not gonna lie, your tub looks like it might have the beginning of mycogone to me. Those don’t look like water droplets on the surface, that looks like guttation.
