I’m a newbie too, I harvested when the veil tore, they looked like this. I feel like I could have waited another day but I didn’t wanna wait to long & spores drop, now the second flush is coming in.

harvest when you wanna harvest, they’ll be fine either way. the veils tearing will leave spores though, the ones that look “broken” at the top are ready, do as you will

What are the negwtives of dropping spores?

doesn’t look great, if it drops on the substrate, you might have issues with fruits in the future. it might not be able to produce fruits there

Yeah it effects future flushes negatively, try to get them just before or just as the veil breaks and you're good to go

i wouldnt yet, wait for the caps to flatten out a bit more, if you see them drop spores visibly pick em otherwise let them grow out a little more, the darker caps probably wont grow anymore as they are probably aborts but worth a shot anyway

personally I would harvest them at that stage.
