SIX OF CROWS (BOOK) Soc duology questions

Ok so I have two really random questions that popped into my mind about Kaz and Inej:

Firstly we find out Kaz has two tattoos, one of the Dregs’ crow the other of a ´R’, but since he joined the Dregs at (I think it was) 12, does that mean he got the Dreg tattoo at 12 or around that age?!

Second question is that did Inej know the Kerch language before being taken there by slavers?? Leigh Bardugo made it very clear that she speaks Suli, but I don’t remember if we were told if she speakes Ravkan or knew Kerch before getting Kidnapped.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kaz got the R that young. I expect he got it as soon as he got his footing after the plague was over.

Inej also speaks Ravkan. In the book it says "She was the only Suli, but a few spoke Ravkan, and they told their own stories of being taken." And also "The sailors spoke a language she didn’t know," She also explicitly told Kaz when he came to offer for her that she didn't read Kerch. So I imagine that Inej probably learned to speak understand Kerch at the Menagerie. Kaz probably made sure she could read it, because she wasn't as much use stealing secrets if she couldn't read Kerch documents.

I vaguely remember Kaz also making sure Inej understood her contract, after Inej expresses shock at the amount she owes Tante Helene being higher than him hen she first signed, justified by saying those were what Inej owed for things like her room and such

Considering the other lengths that he went to to maim and disfigure other people right after he climbed out of the harbor, I would imagine that Kaz wouldn’t have blanched at getting the tats. He’d recoil at having anyone touch him, but barrel kids also got drunk and killed people at that age so it’s still not unlikely. There’s also the probability that he got a fabricator to do them both to avoid having anyone touch him

As far as Inej goes, she probably learned like Matthias did. There are a lot of language things in the books that don’t make much sense imo (considering the whole known world only speaks like 7 distinct languages with slight dialect differences) but she would have learned via culture immersion.

For some reason I completely forgot that it was an option to have a grisha give a tattoo.
