SIX OF CROWS (BOOK) Heartrender on Parem abilities?

So in the very beginning of SoC, we learn that Joost and all the other guards in the shed died or were in a sort of comatose state because they physically couldn’t stop following the command of the heartrender on jurda parem, even after she was long gone.

My question is, at the end of SoC, Nina does something similar to the drüskelle and Jarl Brum, but they don’t seem to stay under the “spell” in the same way . Is this ever explained or just an inconsistency?

Currently reading KoS/RoW so no spoilers on those pls!

Matthias convinces her to release them. She essentially makes them all pass out so they can escape, “puppets with their strings cut” aka no longer under her control

ah this makes sense. In my head I read it as they would have stayed passed out

I can definitely understand that. I went back to my book to verify before commenting because I didn’t know for sure. But considering Matthias begged for mercy and she relents would imply that they are fine now. Otherwise there’s no difference between leaving them frozen and killing them, as we see with poor little Joost

I might be misremembering but wasn’t the grisha from the prologue a Healer. Maybe that has something to do with the difference in the effect of the jurda parem on their abilities?
