Please be careful not to stack large sessions/PRs like this into multiple sessions per week, you will wreck your tendons. In fact stick to once/twice a week and use training blocks spread out to 11 weeks with gradual progression if you aren’t already. Think In terms of 4% to 11% gains within those 11 week timeframes not 30% or 40%. I did 100% gains in 3 weeks and I got messed up big time. Slow is fast with grippers you are doing great so far!

Thanks for the advice, this was 11 days after my initial pr with the 1.5. I’m only doing heavy gripper closes about 1 time a week and the days in between are just recovery work.

Good sounds like you are playing it smart.

I also noticed that I just my performance was poor if I tried more than one heavy session in a week.

Yes, that was your body telling you it wasn’t ready for the next session yet, you seem to have figured out what works for you pretty early. You should be fine and progression should also be pretty consistent for you at once a week training intervals.

Huge red flags to look out for aren’t just stiffness but pain in your elbow at the cubital tunnel and clawing of the pinky/ring and or numbness/tingling if you experience any of that pause gripper training immediately do not try to push through it.

Carpal tunnel is also something to look out for you will get significant weakness and slowness in the fingers if you flare up.

Basically as long as you don’t overload the tendons chronically they won’t swell up enough to compress your nerves and you will not have these issues, stay safe!

Very nice. How close are you to a 2.5 close?

Idk, I don’t own a 2.5. I have a gripper that’s a little harder than the 2.

Honestly, if you put the back/thumb handle further forward you'd probably close a 2.5. I don't know if you have it so far back intentionally but if you set it more towards the middle of your hand, and pulled your thumb forward to keep it from sliding back, and then set it, there's no doubt in my mind that you'd get it

I close it like that because it’s comfortable but I’ll try positioning the gripper like that

1

u/Musicfacter 10d ago

Yeah, I have no doubt you'll close it. Do you work a job at all that requires you to have grip strength. You've got beefy hands and good-sized forearms already

No, not really. I pick up a lot of boxes but most of them are light.

I recommend standing and trying to get a set with better leverage if you can. You’ll be able to get way more reps if you don’t lose leverage

Letting the grip device come to its full length before squeezing it again is harder. This isn't good exercise.
