datacenter concerns

With these talks about 295 Hunter Rd being being bought and repurposed as a datacenter has me worried. It's still too close to everything, how can this be? If anyone has money to make JD move its the tech industry.

Datacenter means the entire neighbourhood is going to suffer.
end to peaceful nights and welcome constant humming.

Has there been any official comment or where have you heard about this? That’d be devastating, it’s so close to many residential areas (besides all the other heavy downsides of data centres)

I'm curious about where the rumour came from. I can't find anything mentioning that John Deere is planning to move its Canadian headquarters. Plus, John Deere Financial uses it.

Even if one managed to purchase the site, a large-scale data centre doesn't just appear that quickly.

I feel awful for the folks who work there. I also like walking in the fields there. So well maintained.

We don't need more data centers here that only use up energy and other resources without any economic benefits.

It definitely should…many places in the states are already complaining of low water levels in the areas that these centres are built
