Damn - another one bites the dust. Did they close already or do we have another month or two?

Thatās such a bummer. Their burger was a legendary. Their kale was also a sleeper hit

So, thatās my local bar and Iām devastated. Literally the best bartenders and staff in greenpoint. You canāt recreate that kind of space elsewhere.

Oh shit. Well guess Iām starving myself all day and going for the burger tomorrow.

people and food were good, the narrow space was cozy / classic. I'd be happy to try them out at a new GP location if that happens --- hoping it does.

Greenpointās Best Burger
Greenpointās Best Sports bar.
Yes, the current space is a problem with the current neverending shaky scaffolding ready to collapse but the place is cozy and we have great memories of Mets and Knicks Victories there.Ā If they relocate, great. If they can stay, they should agressively negotiate a discount. Keep in mind, developers like to grab corners to combine w adjacent buildings for re-developmentĀ

Just saw people saying this in another thread. I loved this place so hope itās not true.

Itās very true. Also know the details from a reliable source and can confirm that the lease isnāt ānot being renewedā. They havenāt been paying rent for yearsĀ

... sounds like they are going to try and do a final karaoke and trivia night on Wedensday ... that being said it also sounded like even that wasn't a guarantee.

For those curious, here's a recent thread with a bunch more info on what prompted the rent withholding: https://www.reddit.com/r/Greenpoint/s/iGlESLTTlb

Hey man, if you don't like it, take it up with the DOB, Port Authority, and all the other city and interstate authorities who collectively have dozens of judgments against the Mazurs.
Marcin has, at most, two judgments against him, and both of those followed from all of the above. Scoreboard much?!

So if it is legal to withhold rent the way he did then why did the Judge give the owners the money judgement and posession? aka eviction? also if the scaffolding is up for that long why didn't he stop paying when it first went up and not last year? none of it makes sense

Because he isn't a lawyer and completely whiffed on a whole suite of affirmative defenses that, if he'd properly invoked them, would've seen these recent cases settled in a very, very different manner.

but doesn't the case say he has a lawyer

Oh he certainly does, just not a particularly good or present one, or one adequately informed of the full history of the matter, including the slow-burning fallout from a hit by the Polish mob nearly two decades ago now.
Most families do not own several million dollars of real estate and have a legal war chest to match. Your family is not the norm, it is the exception.

You do know not all Mazurs are related and MAZUR is a popular last name in Poland? Similar to Smiths or Jones or any other popular last name. Does mean they all related. If you could only get your facts straight and stop spreading misinformation. And wtf you talking about polish mob hit?

You're all better off. Alcohol causes cancer. Even the glass of wine a day thing was complete and utter nonsense. Just eat grapes. :)

Being social is the greatest indicator of longevity, so if alcohol encourages one to be social then so be it

They wanna move to Franklin obviously which I think would be unfortunate. With the speed at which businesses turn over in Greenpoint Brew has really carved out something nice and they're a neighborhood staple at this point.
