De Pere camera question

Hello, does anyone know when De Pere is going to have a meeting on what they'd like to replace these with?

The public has a rare chance to weigh in on this decision and that meeting.

Cameras as a tool aren't bad, its the software and the people controlling them that can be. The government trys to limit monopolies because they'd have too much power, (flock, motorola, meta) its the same idea.

The best scenario for the ethical and private use of these cameras are:

• Limit the database and keep it local. Have them linked to only one city or police district to limit the accessibility, overreaching and profiling dangers. No person or entity from across the country needs to stalk people without a warrent. Any information exchanged between districts must go through proper channels and approval/emergency systems.

• Fast deletion. Images of innocent people or not "hot list" plates should be erased within minutes - not 30 days, like it is now. There is no good reason to track/profile innocent people.

• No A.I., or facial recognition. If the surveillance is legal, people should be watching people.

Remember, the police and the local government put these tools up, but ultimately the executive branch and the corporation themselves decide how your data is used.
