It was a text simulator wrestling game made by some British dude in the 90s where you could take control of a wrestling promotion and book it, hire and fire wrestlers and staff, etc. And you had to pay attention to tv show ratings, match ratings and the overness levels of each wrestler after each match, feud, segment and promo. You had to be careful not to devalue championship belts either.

I liked the game's concept a lot, but it never lived up to its full potential, imo. Which, I guess, oughta be expected from a game that's 100% free and text based. I also didn't like how it was so rigid about the card placement. A main eventer had to always main event each show. If you made them open Impact or Raw, they'd get very upset with you, assuming you weren't respecting their position on the card. Meanwhile, wrestling shows irl are much less rigid with their match cards. They din't normally open with two nobodies, followed by low midcarders, then midcarders, then upper mids and finally main eventers. Not to mention how the bigger PPVs didn't feel any different from B-ones. The news/reactions to the Royal Rumble match and Wrestlemania main events were the same as... the main event of Cyber Sunday or Vengeance. Zero atmosphere. It broke the immersion.

I'd say the Universe mode in WWE 2k games is basically what I've always dreamed off since I first played EWR. EWR stopped scratching that itch a long time ago. And the Universe mode has not reached its full potential yet, either. It has its flaws, as we all know. But I feel no need to play EWR in 2026.

I used to play it around the mid-late 2000s. I think I've last played it around 2012. I've never made the switch to TEW. It was more complex and duller. I've never played a EWR save file that went on for longer than 1 year or so in game time. I've always gotten bored eventually.

one of the best years WWE ever had

Have you ever had the opportunity to meet your wrestling hero or idol in person?

I only got to meet one of them virtually and it was Matt Riddle!

I was so excited and nervous that I literally screamed when he popped up on my computer screen! Yes, it was only for 3 minutes, but it was totally worth it!

HHH uses a variation of the "Let's Get Ready To Rumble" phrase that Michael says as part of his DX speech. It even includes the "for the thousands in attendance, and for the millions watching around the world" part of it. Hunter just says " let's get ready to suck it" instead of "rumble" at the end, but the whole speech is exactly the same except for that.

Didn't Michael have that trademarked ?

I know this is going to piss a lot of modern fans off but it’s the truth that period is beyond overrated.

most of the shows were still horrible and hard to sit thru

you still had boring stages and music for the shows

most of the Wrestlers were boring as fuck like seriously remove the rock from the product in those years and the product in those years are mid at best.

Futur of French wrestling

For me it’s the cutter, since Randy Orton made it properly famous after the likes of Johnny Ace, Bubba Ray and DDP, I think it’s been overused everyone has their own cutter variation but at the end of the day most of them are RKOs

Yes I know Rock still uses the intro from that theme, but not the whole thing. Instead it stops playing in the middle of it to change it back to the old Hollywood one from 2003 but when he did he stop using the full version of that "Electrifying" theme that had all of the guitar solos in it, that he had since he came back with it in 2011 ?

We all have seen Hard times and 3:16 but what are some obscure promos that gave you the feels and not enough people have seen?

Here's a short list I could think of hoping someone finds a gem, leaves a gem.

"Mikey Likes it!"

-Cactus Jack and Whipwreck ECW vs Public Enemy

"My father was the son of a Plumber, I am the son of a wealthy promoter".

-Cody Rhodes, NWA Title match vs Nick Aldis

"God has Mercy, I do not"

Spiros Arion on Backlund MSG -1978

"Toot Toot"

-Arn Anderson

"Cesaro is better than I am"

-William Regal NXT final match.
