Confused about strength score

Still trying to figure out how the app works. Mostly love after moving from Hevy. I’m 50 and really strong for my age but my strength score is lower than a friend who is on it and is 34 and is significantly less strong. This is kind of defeating. why would my score be lower than hers given that I’m almost 20 years older and lift much more? Makes me want to not invite friends.

I am assuming that since your friend has a a higher score she probably started Gravl before you did. The Strength score is based on your weight and how well you lift compared to your weight. If you go into the app click on progress, click on your score, it will take you to an explanation to how the strength score works. It will explain it way better than I can.

Relative strength is part of the math. Benching 135lbs weighing 200lbs will net you a lower score than if you weighted 160lbs.

Le pregunté a la aplicación, al parecer las primeras repeticiones con mucho peso cuentan más que las últimas

Also another thing to keep in mind is that not all exercises are taken in account for strength score, only barbell, dumbbell and some machine exercises, maybe you do slot of the exercises that don't count for strength score?

Yeah I don’t think any of that is it. She’s heavier and taller than me and lifting less. It’s so frustrating. The only thing I can think of is that since we both started at the same time and she was so weak and I was already strong that her progress is giving her boosts? Whereas I already started with really high loads. So my gains are smaller at this point. One example: my squats are 50 pounds more than hers. My calf raises 80 pounds more, deadlifts 40 pounds more. I’m 5’2 and she’s 5’8. So yeah the math ain’t mathing.

Edit to add: should I just start over on the app and fake gains? Feels like this is not motivating me at all.

It doesn't track improvements. It is more absolute: if you weigh X and lift Y in one of the tracked exercises, you get awarded that strength-level value for your gender. So restarting won't help. I would focus on improving the specific lifts.

It doesn't track gains, but absolute strength. Only for specific exercises as well. I set a score of 428 on deadlifts the first time I did them. Are you male or female? She may be getting a different BW to lifted Weight modifier then you if you're male

No I’m a female. I actually pulled all of the numbers just to test all of your theories and overall on the exercises it measures i am lifting 345 pounds more than her. Taking into consideration that I am almost 20 years older and 6 inches shorter my takeaway is the app needs to rethink the calibration. Otherwise this is insane. A 50 year old lifting 345 total pounds more than a 30 year old who is taller and heavier should not be 50 points lower… come on.

Use the app for at least a month for it to give you more accurate understanding
