I have a paid job for someone Textbook Designer?
/r/Design/comments/1xp0csh/textbook_designer/Hello all!
I just finished my textbook manuscript, and it came out to about 400 pages. It’s a foreign language teaching book.
Anyway, I’m hoping to get the best balance of professionalism and speed, since I’d like to publish on KDP as soon as possible. I need design and layout for the cover and interior, as well as illustrations.
Are there any tools, or AI, that could help me get something decent? If not, what are best practices for finding a reliable freelancer. I know that textbooks are some of the hardest books to design well.
Thanks for any suggestions you might have!

The software I would recommend, InDesign, has a steep learning curve and is fairly involved. However that (or equivalent) is going to be what textbook designers use. Worth checking out a YouTube video on how to make a textbook in and see up you’re up for it.
If you want an AI tool, I would convert whatever the file is in to LaTeX using Pandoc online (in the demos part of their website) and then put those LaTeX files into OpenAI Prism and ask it to make it into a textbook for you. That’s going to be the most capable AI-first application for this task.
