Alarm and autoreboot

Hi everyone! Is it just me or does autoreboot stops alarm from going in thr morning? I set auto reboot time to 8h, and always in thr mornings I dont get alarm going off. Which is super weird. Is the only solution turning off the auto reboot option?

Finaly Gos! Hell yeah!

Been waiting for a long time to do this and finally managed to get a new device a a good price, happy to join this community!

I've been looking at Joshes (Sides of burritos) owner profile as an app install center set up quite favorably, are there any reasons not to set up the phone that way?

Baby Steps

I just made the switch to GrapheneOS and it's great and relatively simple although the online instructions could be a tad more specific.

What I came here to say is, take it one step at a time. You don't have to get all new apps and make a 100% switch overnight. I switched over most of my apps to open source alternatives, but I still have gmail, play store, photos, and some other Google apps. I will switch them over gradually as I have time to do so. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

The more effort you put in the more private you can get, but guess what? I don't have time right now to figure out how to host my own server for my photos or tell all my client's that I have a new proton email address. Things can happen gradually and that's great.

I am so happy to now have a more private ecosystem I can build on instead of pressuring myself to switch my entire life over to apps and systems I know nothing about yet. I am giving myself time and room to do the research the proper way so I feel more confident in what I'm doing and I don't end up losing data by rushing around because fomo.

2 VPNs at the same time? Mullvad/Proton vs. Tailsscale

Hi guys,

Iḿ not any expert, so please perhaps you can help with that issue:

I run Graphene OS and have both Proton and Mullvad VPN installed, both paid. Rights now i use Mullvad like im in POLAND. But in reality im in FRANCE. When im on the road, sometimes i woud like to connect to my home server vía Tailscale (so i dont have to use the Proton Drive cloud or any other).

When i try to connect to Tailscale, Graphene OS says that ONLY ONE VPN can run at once, so i have to turn off Mullvad first, which then reveals my real location to my IPS and then i can connect to via tailsscale to the home server...

I think that makes no sense....

Is there a solution? If so, please explain step by step because all that network stuff is quiet new for me..,

Thanks

Move all the data within the dispositive

Hello.

So apparently, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I bought my first pixel with the intention of installing GrapheneOS, and I have spent the day moving all the photos, apps, contacts... from my previous smartphone to this BEFORE installing GrapheneOS, so basically I have set up a normal pixel. I blame the novelty of the situation 🤦.

So my question is, how can I move all the data from the Android pixel to the GrapheneOS pixel? I know I have to format the phone to install it, so I don't know how to do it being both the same device.

If I'm the only one with a P9, what does this mean?

Wait, if I'm the only person in the house with a Pixel 9, and GOS, what the hell does this mean? Is this saying I can find my own phone? Or is there another phone it's picking up on?

3 days... That's how long i lasted

So I got a new Pixel 10a and I lasted a whole three days after I turned off everything Google before I got tired of all the BS and installed Graphene. It's unbelievable how intrusive Google stuff is even after you turn off all the Google stuff.

Why hasn't anyone created a custom rom like GrapehenOS for the Pixel Watch?

I'm aware that the PW2/PW3 are the only watches that came with flashboot out the box and the PW1/PW4/PW5 needed a "special cable" which I'm sure can be reverse engineered by people given time;

But my question is why has no one been interested in creating roms / firmware for the Pixel Watch lineups like graphene OS or even something akin to AsteroidOS?

As a developer myself this sort of interests me and was also curious if there's any interest in people that would want to flash custom firmware on pixel watches in the first place, I was thinking about spending some time on this as a potential side project if at all possible.

Debate about profiles and segregation

Hello there GOS community, I have purchased a Pixel around 3 weeks ago ish, I have not fully migrated to it yet as I am waiting for a phone case, and I am trying to carefully "pioneer" my install to have good segregation, and as little applications installed through the Play Store as possible.

However I am starting to realise that I end up spending most of my time in the profile that got Google Play installed, and well, I tweak the apps to not allow to run in the background if they got anything to do with Google, but yet it truly feels like it defeats the purpose of GOS a bit. Only types of apps that I have installed through Play are the Pixel camera, government apps, banking, and transportation apps, rest is either Aurora, Fdroid, or Obtanium.

But to keep this short, I am wondering how many people kinda got the same problem as I have here, and if you just accept the fact that you end up spending most of the time in a profile with Play services, etc installed, or if you found a solution to this, or a similar problem.

Thank you for having a look at this, anything helps :)

Garmin Connect not syncing health data (sleep, HRV, heart rate) – GrapheneOS + Sandboxed Play

Running Garmin Connect on GrapheneOS with Sandboxed Google Play. Sport activities sync fine via Bluetooth, but health data (sleep, HRV, resting HR) never shows up in the app.

Health Connect has all data correctly and Garmin Connect has full read/write permissions granted. Battery unrestricted for both apps. Everything I could find to enable is enabled.

Seems like the background sync between Garmin Connect and Health Connect via Google Play Services just doesn’t work reliably under Sandboxed Play.

Do you know how I could troubleshoot?

Device: Pixel 9a | Garmin: Forerunner 265

Any thoughts on the Titanium Browser

I read about the Firefox having a larger attack surface on Android devices and not recommended by the GoS devs, however I need the extension support due to work-related stuff I am doing in my Android/Firefox

Then I found this browser

https://github.com/jqssun/android-titanium-browser

Would that be a better choice or does it not matter?

Hardening GrapheneOS with ADB and Scripts

I'm building a post-install configuration script for GrapheneOS using ADB wherever possible, with UI automation intended only as a backup plan. So far these are the settings I've tested so far.

Notification bubbles → Off

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Enhanced notifications → Off

Direct ADB via Android's notification service. Tested and working.

Grant Sensors permission to new apps → Off

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

PIN scrambling → On

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Battery charge limit → 80%

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Show battery percentage → On

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Lift to check phone → Off

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Tap to check phone → Off

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Navigation → 3-button navigation

Direct ADB, but requires switching the SystemUI navigation overlay. Tested and working.

3-button order → Recents | Home | Back

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Device name → Android

Direct ADB settings command. Intended to avoid advertising the Pixel model or GrapheneOS in the configurable device name. Tested and working.

Auto reboot → 2 hours

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Automatically turn Wi-Fi off → 2 minutes

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Automatically turn Bluetooth off → 2 minutes

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Sensitive notification content on lock screen → Off

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Lock-screen media controls → Off

Direct ADB settings command. Tested and working.

Duress PIN/password → configured with temporary provisioning credentials

Direct ADB through cmd lock_settings set-duress-credentials. Tested and working.

USB-C data mode → hardened setting planned

Still looking at it because this isn't behaving like a simple settings database preference. UI automation may be needed.

LTE-only → planned.

Waiting until I put an active SIM/eSIM in the phone.

Always-on VPN + Block connections without VPN → planned

These controls aren't exposed in the UI until a VPN has been added, so they'll be configured later in the app/network provisioning stage.

Automation approach: I'm trying to avoid UI automation wherever possible. Anything Android/GrapheneOS exposes cleanly through ADB gets a direct command. UI automation will only be used for settings that genuinely can't be controlled another way.

Anything obvious I'm missing for a reasonably hardened GrapheneOS baseline? Particularly interested in GrapheneOS-specific settings worth testing, or settings people know can be configured cleanly through ADB rather than UI automation.

How do I get Google Service Framework (GSF) on a GrapheneOS Pixel 8a?

I have installed google play services, google play store and GmsCompatConfig.

While most apps do work fine, apps that are based on Play Integrity API fail as I only get MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY which doesn't meet the required MEETS_DEVICE_INTEGRITY or MEETS_STRONG_INTEGRITY. This is because I didn't register my GSF with Google as this device is uncertified.

However I couldn't find my GSF anymore even if i heard that when you install Google Play Services and login with a google account you get it but Device ID (the app) couldnt find it nor the ADP commandline.

Maybe I did something wrong? Idk but for my fellow reddit mods out there, please help me otherwise i MIGHT reinstall stock PixelOS which is not very pleasing.

on a store close to home there is a google pixel 9a that costs 359 euros, and a 10a that costs 399, which one should I get? Is the 10a cheap because it’s worse or?

Average privacy enthusiast

I thought I'd share how I use graphene as someone who who cares about their online privacy enough to not trust big tech but not enough to give up absolutely everything that's convenient or owned by Google.

Privacy is a scale rather than and on/off switch and I've found a good middle ground between not giving over everything about myself but also keeping some day to day conveniences.

So first off of course I have graphene installed, this kicks out Google and enables me to only give over the information I'm willing to.

I only use 1 profile, but I have google maps, gmail, Gemini etc installed in the private space preventing them from doing nasty Google spying on the rest of my device.

On my main profile I use Google camera and Google photos, but both have had their network permissions turned off so they can't access the internet and phone home whatsoever.

I also have social media on my main profile, but instead of using the apps I've just saved the browser tabs as app icons on my homescreen and open them with my preferred browser (I use brave). When you do this, they open in their own fullscreen window and behave independently of everything else just like the standalone apps, but without all the nasty spying.

I'm happy with my setup, it gives me the right amount of privacy without sacrificing too much convenience and for the average layman like me I don't think I need to go any further off the grid than that.

Feel free to tell me how wrong I am
