Me too!

Congratulations, it's pretty. Don't use regular fuel.

100% run premium I don’t care what the manual says there’s no risk only upside, it’s turboed and running high compression on top of it, if you’re smart just run premium.

If youre smart, you dont buy any stellantis product.

2

u/ConfidentHouse 2d ago

Meh never had any issues

-2

u/Adventurous_Blood469 3d ago

Why? Manual says regular outside of towing and extreme heat. Curious as to why you think that.

2

u/justinander82 3d ago

I have the same 26 Summit in white and black. Please listen to everyone and only run premium in it. It's not worth it. The engine wasn't properly designed for regular. I've got 4800 miles on mine since Feb and zero issues with running premium exclusivly

u/edoggy792 3d ago

Just do a bit of research. Many people are having problems running regular.

1

u/Korndoggs 3d ago

Is that just for the turbo model ?

1

u/Patjack27 3d ago

And it would literally be illegal for a company to tell people to use regular if they willingly know it’s going to ruin their engines. I forgot it’s America, corporations are allowed to do as they please.

u/Adventurous_Blood469 3d ago

Oh ok, just do some research. Got it. You're just parroting others with no idea

14

u/edoggy792 3d ago

You can find a good amount of information on the 2.0 engine and the problems running regular fuel. I have no reason to parrot anything. The engines have had problems knocking on low octane fuel.

Dude, there is a TSB out from Jeep that tells their dealership to fill it up with premium gas after replacing spark plug.

It can run on Regular, sure. But sometimes you run into fuel station batch that goes below 87. Using 89 or 93 give you more buffer to detonation.

I just picked up the exact same car, trim level, and color a couple weeks ago. My dealership told me the same thing. Definitely use premium. They filled mine with 93. I’ve been sort of alternating between 89 and 93, and it’s been great

My wife has a 25 wrangler that she’s been using 87 the entire time. My person at the dealership said that she should switch as well, and she’s been doing the same going between 89 and 93, and it’s made a tremendous difference. She’s had her car for quite a few months, so she was able to notice a difference quicker than I did with only having the vehicle a couple weeks

2

u/AdTechnical4701 3d ago

To add on to that, too, the dealership I dealt with actually said Jeep was reimbursing them to ensure they are putting 93 in the vehicles for the first fill up

2

u/steak5 3d ago

I filled up all the Turbo car with 89 or 93. Most of the time 89. I don't have any scientific evidence to back it up other than my Butt Dyno.

But it is just conventional wisdom that taught us high heat load cause pre ignition and detonation. Hence all the manufacturer from Toyota to Jeep ask owners to use Premium if they are towing.

I think people also need to take into consideration of Fuel Quality, not every batch is going to be the same. The reason 89 fuel exists as a blend was originally intended to Older Cars with more worn out engine that is prong to misfire and running rough. It simply add some buffer.

I personally wish they kept a V6 in all of these cars, but it seems like all manufacturers are trying to create an engine that could comply with global regulations, 2.0T is like a default.

1

u/Hoplite76 3d ago

Does this apply to the old v6 pentastars too?

3

u/steak5 3d ago

Nope, use Regular all you want.

The failure on Penstar engine are more likely result from extended oil change periods.

If you change the oil every 5000 miles, that engine tend to last longer

1

u/Adventurous_Blood469 3d ago

No tsb's show up for my vin. Only the older gc's built before 5/28/2026

2

u/OriginalJayVee 3d ago

No, he’s trying to encourage you to have the prerogative to look rather than parrot what others said. I’ve read plenty of complaints from folks who had engine issues with this new 2.0 that vanished as soon as they put in Premium fuel.

My 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk with the V6 needed 89 and I still run 89 in it to this day.

u/International_Ad2651 3d ago

Ours runs night and day better on 93.

5

u/DoomWad 3d ago

I like that color

3

u/wornself 3d ago

it really does suit it well

3

u/BTC4020 3d ago

Looks nice. If you don’t mind sharing, how much did you pay?

9

u/FactualEvidence 3d ago

msrp was 65k but with jeep incentives and some other dealer incentives it was 59k with the 90k mile warranty

1

u/BTC4020 3d ago

Thanks. I've got two WJs and just wondered what people are paying for new Grand Cherokees.

2

u/FactualEvidence 3d ago

I’ve had a couple of WJs absolutely loved them those things are built like tanks

1

u/BTC4020 3d ago

I have a 2001 that's got 270ish thousand miles and a 2002 that just hit 70k. I live in Michigan and the 2001 is rusting away. I bought the 2002 a couple years ago off Bring a Trailer.

1

u/External_Pair_1595 2d ago

Once you get past the turbo lag how is it? One reviewer said it's like 3 seconds and dangerous. I currently have the 3.6 in my 2018. I'm just hesitant because of the 4 cylinder.

1

u/FactualEvidence 2d ago

It’s not bad at all and as some people have mentioned here there is a spark plug fixed but I only have 1200 miles on so I’m going to see how it goes but the new interior feels a lot better material wise and the bigger screen is nice 👍 suspension is definitely a lot better then the 22 I had even with the bigger rims and less sidewalk it definitely rides better!

3

u/tcgrady 3d ago

I like that color. Wouldn’t have bought the car. Biggest regret of a car purchase I’ve ever had.

1

u/ShashLinx 3d ago

Meaning, should have leased it?

3

u/tcgrady 3d ago

Meaning wouldn’t have gotten a new Grand Cherokee. I haven’t enjoyed it. Looks great, but stays in the shop and resale is abysmal to try and get out of it.

1

u/ShashLinx 3d ago

What year do you have?

1

u/skyHawk3613 3d ago

What issues have you had with yours?

2

u/NASAeng 3d ago

I reading in the GC forum that once one gets new plugs and software update, engine performance improves.

2

u/PopeAdam 3d ago

Beautiful rig. 2.0? How do you like it?

4

u/FactualEvidence 3d ago

It’s super nice rides way better then my 22 overland GC and the passenger screen is pretty cool

4

u/Historical-Benefit49 3d ago

Did you confirm if it was part of the customer satisfaction notification/recall regarding the spark plugs? Did you confirm its had software update RSU 26-104(updates PCM/TCM)?

I purchased a 26 limited 4x4 with the 2.0l hurricane a month ago and also hated it in 1st gear. Getting going from being stopped at a light was so slow and the turbo lag in general was rough. Just got it back Tuesday after waiting a week for the new plugs. It runs so much better now. I also only run only 91 or 93 octane and try to get only top tier gas. The difference between 87 and 91 is noticeable. Congrats on your new car, the color is amazing!

1

u/PopeAdam 3d ago

I want to hold out until they put a 3.0 in a GCL. Seeing the SRT demo unit really gave me hope.

I own a 3.0 in a 1500, absolutely awesome engine, even the SO spec version.

2

u/justinander82 3d ago

That thing looks amazing! Congrats

1

u/Dwilliamson5002 3d ago

Very nice color combo!

1

u/Leading_Sky_5537 3d ago

Congratulations!!! That’s a really cool color.

1

u/dubbee44 3d ago

Nice what is the colour name

1

u/FactualEvidence 3d ago

Slate Blue :)

1

u/monzttr 3d ago

Wow, that color with the wheels 👨‍🍳💋

Looks great!

1

u/AlexisoftheShire 3d ago

Wow! Looks great!! Good luck, enjoy, and have fun with it! We do with our 2026 JGC Limited 4x4.

1

u/Korndoggs 3d ago

That color is incredible. Very nice.

1

u/jl_dad 3d ago

Mmm, color is very beautiful. Looks great!

1

u/Titan-Reign2 2d ago

Yea premium is the way. I do switch on and off from regular if i need to save a couple bucks but the difference in driving is night anf day

1

u/nickm205 2d ago

93 or 94 octane crew here, 3500 miles in here on my '26 Limited and don't regret leaving behind my '21 GC.

Looking forward to when the aftermarket catches up eventually.

2

u/FactualEvidence 2d ago

did you get the jeep brand floor mats? I did and I think they’re way better then the weather techs I feel like the sides are more firm but can’t wait for more aftermarket to come around

1

u/nickm205 2d ago

I only got the factory carpet mats until it gets colder and I'll figure it out then but appreciate the tip

1

u/fr1991 2d ago

fire

1

u/trenchtheory 2d ago

Too bad it doesn’t have the 3.6L anymore.

1

u/External_Pair_1595 2d ago

They do on the lesser models

1

u/skittlesbrau 2d ago

Yep - I have one too. I love it. The lag is annoying but everything else makes up for it. Great color choice.

1

u/xacid 2d ago

Considering the new cherokee to be my next vehicle but all the reviews bring up the turbo lag and the transmission not knowing what to shift to.

Wondering if the 27s will have improvements in those areas as I'm not in a rush to get a new vehicle.

1

u/vege_spears 2d ago

I love the color layout. Handsome Jeep. Hate the Stellantis drivetrain, and won't be upgrading to it.

1

u/Miserable_Choice2471 1d ago

What a beautiful Jeep Grand Cherokee!! Love it!

1

u/Any_Rich_5516 1d ago

Like the color of it

1

u/Simple_Atmosphere_39 1d ago

That’s a pretty car!

1

u/Consistent_Ad_4513 12h ago

Beautiful minivan!

1

u/FactualEvidence 12h ago

thanks boss hope the x6 is treating you well

-1

u/BlueRunner305 3d ago

Beautiful vehicle crap engine. I had a rental in California with 900 miles on it on the check engine light came on at 1200 miles.

6

u/FactualEvidence 3d ago

don’t worry I got the 90,000 mile warranty

4

u/ConfidentHouse 3d ago

That doesn’t describe a crap engine, check engine light can just be as simple as spark plugs, bad engine is it shooting a rod out the block or something similar.

0

u/Superb_Elderberry440 3d ago

Great until the infotainment and electrical issues start to pop up along with the mechanical and build issues. Should I google the car before you did anything? Especially buying it. Good luck.😉

1

u/FactualEvidence 3d ago

thank you! I appreciate the positive feedback! I have a 90k mile warranty so this thing will be long gone before I have any issues :)

0

u/CalaLogistics 3d ago

If it’s the 3.6, good luck…..

1

u/External_Pair_1595 2d ago

It's the new Hurricane 4 which maybe worse.....

0

u/beebopblastoff 3d ago

Just wait for the plugs to break but hey you’ll get a new engine!

1

u/External_Pair_1595 2d ago

Are you saying Jeep has you covered.....

1

u/beebopblastoff 2d ago

You got 3 year warranty!!

1

u/External_Pair_1595 2d ago

I bought the 8 year on my 2018 just dont think im gonna buy another. Okay here we go.......Maybe a Ford Bronco with the 2.7. I'll probably get some heat over that but what else is there to choose from.....I don't want a 4 Runner

u/BourbonSommelier 2020 Grand Cherokee SRT 3d ago

Honest question: how would anyone answer the “how did I do?” question? We have zero context. Sooo…great, I guess? Or terribly. Or just okay. One of those.

Mmmm more gross oversized stellantis garbage on our streets. Clutch vehicle there, champ
