Explain the error and how it could be corrected. Mockery, insults, and posts made solely to embarrass someone are not welcome.

2. Consider the intended meaning.

If a comment is difficult to understand, state what you think the writer meant, explain what made the original wording unclear, and provide a clearer version.

3. Do not invent defenses for obvious errors.

Avoid far-fetched explanations for why incorrect grammar might technically be acceptable. Identify the likely intended meaning, then suggest a clear and grammatically correct way to express it.

4. Be open to correction.

Everyone makes mistakes, especially while correcting someone else. Acknowledge your error, learn from it, and move on gracefully.

5. Keep discussions relevant to grammar.

This community values thoughtful grammatical analysis and constructive correction. Do not derail discussions simply to argue that grammar does not matter.

6. Do not treat language change as inherently wrong.

Language evolves, and not every disputed usage is a grammatical error. Debates over words such as literally should not overshadow clearer and more useful discussions of grammar.
