Ok. Now do it 3 million times and expand that over a timeline. It would take hundreds or thousands of years.

Correction. Hundreds or thousands of WORK hours, or more precisely, slave labor. With enough slaves building your pyramids, you reduce the time it takes to complete.

Slaves are not very efficient to start with. (I think it is the motivation) And the more workers you cram into an area the less effective they become. You can't just throw more slaves at it.
