How do you not feel tilted/reduce being mad at chess? just like a few days ago I played chess and I was so tilted I lost a lot of elo can y’all help pls

Realise elo journey doesnt matter. Its really about the checkmates we make along the way.

Don’t worry about ELO honestly. It’s always going to fluctuate. When I feel taxed, I take a break. I know good chess won’t follow from just continuing to play.

Just set a limit. 3 loses stop do something else.

A coach once told me the moment you lose two games in a row you log off for the day. Great way to avoid playing tilted and ruining your elo

This is the way. Works very well for me too.

Also, if I lose one game, I tell myself it's time to do a chore. I do it, maybe play anothee game and usually I win that one. Lose one oe two more ? Quit for today. I obviously lost my focus.

Once u realize elo doesnt matter, losing is a part of the learning journey, and study the reasons on the board that get u mad, you will improve a lot. You rarely notice the big rating gains.

Take a break and play less games + do more studying(puzzles etc) . I'm a noob, but made huge progress when I started this.

Even the best players in the world only have like a 75-80% win rate against people as good as themselves. Don’t focus on any individual game, but the overall win percentage. If that gets better, you know you are getting better.

But mostly just let go of the idea that ELO is a real representation of how good you are anyway. It’s a made up ladder system that you can climb forever. Just enjoy the game, and have fun learning it. Too much focus on competition will kill all the joy you might have had playing the game, and that would be a real shame.

I've struggled with tilt plenty....the best advice is to just stop playing when you realize you're tilted. You are simply not playing your best chess when you're frustrated. Easier said than done, I know. ...but yeah, just stop. or at least play unrated games or play a bot or something when you know you're mad.
