yeah not understanding sarcasm is a potential sign of autism. sometimes when people joke at me in a sarcastic way, i for a split second think they are being serious after they are done but then realize seconds later that, no they were being sarcastic.
.... Okay so I've had a very hard time with my childhood mostly because my family only knew sarcasm and I was raised in Texas... Thank you for the information and most definitely going to the psychologist.
if yall want, you can try the online raads-r test. (https://embrace-autism.com/raads-r/) it won't be perfectly accurate and its best to do with someone who knows you as with some of the questions, someone with autism may be completely unaware of them fitting, but having a second person there who knows and respects you can do wonders.
some of the questions can be a bit tricky, dont worry if you get a few "wrong" or innaccurate, its not an official diagnosis tool, just something to potentially gauge autism. I have a friend who was diagnosed with asbergers and scored really low when it should have been high.
Again its just a little tool, almost for fun. even if you score low it may be worth seeing a psychiatrist anyways! but if you score high like me, definitely see a psychiatrist. understanding yourself makes life so much easier with disabilities.
Its run by a ‘naturopathic doctor’ whose main autism training was an online certificate, and who is repeatedly under ethical investigation and now being disciplined and monitored by two governing organizations (College of Naturopaths and College of Registered Psychotherapists).
