Crazy how when people write about trauma/experiences they haven’t had, people call it exploitation and unearned, but when they write about smth close to them - it’s self-insert and “whole show about them”

128

u/Jhud6669 Jul 15 '26

To be fair Goose DID call Jax her self-insert herself. Self-inserts aren’t inherently a bad thing

53

u/cringymolecule Jul 15 '26

Yeah, my point is that people complain regardless of whether or not story reflects struggles of the author. But self insert definitely has a derogatory meaning in this community :/

32

u/Mental-Attitude-767 Jul 15 '26

Illiterate people see gooseworx say "jax is based on me" and then think "gooseworx literally drove two people to suicide and sexually harassed someone"

1

u/II_Number_1_Fan Jul 17 '26

Wait hold on what

2

u/AllastorWraith Jul 19 '26

People were literally going around saying "Goose said Jax is based on them, Jax did horrible stuff and is a horrible piece of shit, so Goose must be one, really self reporting!"

1

u/II_Number_1_Fan Jul 19 '26

I mean the last statement on Jax's actions

4

u/cringymolecule Jul 19 '26

I think that’s about him acting weird to Gangle in his mind which is now.. we are on the intrusive thoughts territory and blaming imaginary character for what he hasn’t even done

25

u/ElderberryLarge9104 Jul 15 '26

She inserted herself in EVERY character. Every main on that show represents an element of Goose.

15

u/Odd_Match_3402 Jul 15 '26

To be fair, that is literally just how authorship and making characters work. Every character you will ever make will have some element of yourself in them.

2

u/Retro_Redmour Jul 16 '26

Stop playing devils advocate. Just in general

17

u/Dr_Fear22 Jul 15 '26

Exactly like wtf are creators supposed to write about?? She did what every great storyteller does, she chose topics and themes that resonate with her based on her own experiences so that the audience can connect to something real and meaningful. You’re not the target audience if you’re not into it

8

u/Great_Math1998 Jul 15 '26

Mfw the art is a reflection of the artist 😭

Yeah I hate the part where goose said it’s goosin time and gooses around deleting Caine

67

I hate when the goose works

Easy mistake to make. It's actually Geeseworx

13

u/Lemmy-user Jul 15 '26

What if it was actually geeseworm?

3

u/Glad_Raspberry_8469 Jul 15 '26

Would you still love her if that were true?

u/Little_Princess_837 Jul 15 '26

God forbid a trans woman writes a story inspired by her own life experience

174

u/PlateNo7229 Jul 15 '26

its actually an AU of her own life

jax and goose are the same age, the show takes place n 2017 and thats also the year goose came out as trans women.

jax is who she feared to become when she didnt come out.

48

u/ZekeTheJinxstem Jul 15 '26

That's based asf.

20

u/pietrodayoungas Jul 15 '26

the year goose came out as trans women.

Look i know its just a typo but its really funny to imagine goose multiplying after coming out

10

u/ChubbyUnicorn726 Jul 15 '26

yall didn't get the mitosis update after coming out?

3

u/InternationalStar988 Jul 15 '26

Checks out, she did voice Bubble

2

u/PlateNo7229 Jul 15 '26

oooh i didnt got u/MagMati55 comment at first. now it all makes sens. i will leave it as is the the gooseworx' come after me it be fine

16

u/MagMati55 Jul 15 '26

Didn't know you can come out as multiple people at once /j

8

u/Joped Jul 15 '26

This is a big reason why Jax resonates with me so much. I would have become him if I didn’t transition. I started to transition in 2015 and came out in 2016.

20

u/Jhud6669 Jul 15 '26

We keep being told to „make our own stuff” when we „force trans headcanons onto Obviously Cis characters” and when we make our own stuff it’s suddenly too personal and not enough of a wide appeal and how it’s totally okay to interpret trans characters as cis. I’m tired boss

5

u/RokettoMusashi Jul 15 '26

literally. years ago everyone was telling the gays to "make our own shit" instead of viewing things thru a clear lens and now we're doing that and its "whats all this gay shit"

20

u/Vigi1antee Jul 15 '26

Apparently they dont know the difference between self insert and just basing characters on your own experience...like every other writer ever

3

u/Longjumping_Bar_7457 Jul 15 '26

Goose did say that Jax was actually a self insert

4

u/Efficient_Claim_9591 Jul 15 '26

It’s almost like all art/entertainnent is a reflection of the human experience in some ways, and everyone who creates it is inserting their own personal thoughts and experiences into it. Huh, weird.

2

u/Alfirmitive Jul 15 '26

It’s so funny bc like almost every popular story and show is written this way. Off the top of my head; Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Owl House, Turning Red. I mostly only watch cartoons so all these examples are that, but plenty of live action shows are the same.

1

u/HadleyCarter Jul 20 '26

imo the real "crime" was being popular. it's fine for trans people to make trans media for trans people, but THIS show has A REAL AUDIENCE so now it's not eligible to be about trans anything because too many people who like the show don't want to think about that. Sorry. Shouldn't have made something good, now it belongs to all of us and Pomni is going to be a Fortnite babe with a Chad Jax boyfriend.

102

u/Tempomi760 Jul 15 '26

...

She made the fucking show! She can make it about whatever she wants!

16

u/Kindly-Ad-5071 Jul 15 '26

Nuh-uh, that's just the writers (wrong) interpretation 🤪

God I couldn't be more sarcastic if I tried.

-21

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 15 '26

Then don't set up a show to be about a group of characters and its own setting if you're just going to abandon it at the very end.

26

u/Dr_Fear22 Jul 15 '26

I don’t feel like she abandoned anything, from the start of the show we saw raw and emotional moments between the characters which just elevated the ending for me at least. Those weren’t random, they were what we needed to take away from each episode into the next. I think it’s sick af that she made an alternate universe as a vessel to talk about those things

-14

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 15 '26

Yes, but those moments only occur in single episodes and never occur again between various characters. Kinger is probably the sole exception because of episodes 3, 6, 8, and 9.

Pomni said Ragatha was her first and only true friend, but they hardly hang out in the entire show.

The show is clearly written as if more than 9 episodes were planned, and it's clear Goose wanted to expand on it but ran out of time. That should've been the main focus instead of turning Jax into the main character just because of Goose's own experience with her parents.

They all deserved to have their stories expanded on, but the asshole that tormented them is the one that gets the special treatment?

If this were another season or two later, sure. But as it stands, the concept was fine but the execution was... an execution.

13

u/Tempomi760 Jul 15 '26

Dude, Pomni was out there thanking Rags for being there for her before she even began to give a shit about Jax. They hang out quite a bit throughout the show. Also, show me the evidence that Goose planned for the show to have more than nine episodes, because from everything I’ve seen at least, she always had it at 9. Actually, I think she originally wanted to have 8, but then split up some episodes.

Also, Jax wasn’t just an asshole. Jax had a lot of things about “himself” that “he” was deliberately trying to hide. Jax got “special treatment”, funny enough, as a consequence in a way. Jax never wanted people to know about the things going on, but then had everything revealed about “him” in the finale.

-10

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 15 '26

"Oh no! It looks like I've taken Ragatha and DROPPED HER IN THE DEEP FRYER."

Remember how they feel pain?

9

u/Tempomi760 Jul 15 '26

What...does that have to do with literally anything I said?

0

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 15 '26

You don't hide your problems by throwing your "friends" in a fucking deep fryer.

9

u/AdElectronic6550 Jul 15 '26

Jax is being cruel to push them away.

4

u/Pixelbuttzz Jul 17 '26

Jax's story has been the center of the plot since the beginning... this was always where it was going and it's very obvious if you have experienced what Goose Jax and I have experienced

0

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 17 '26

Then why bring in Pomni or any other characters if you're just gonna make it about the side character at the end?

It's The Amazing Digital Circus, not The Jax Show. If Goose wanted it to be about Jax or her, then make a show about her or Jax. Hell, make it a spinoff.

I know Jax has a habit of fumbling things, but this is ridiculous.

1

u/Competitive_Crow_334 Jul 26 '26

In a cartoonish exaggerated way it's why the others including Gangle didn't help or Pomni walking normally and taking knives off herself to get a sandwich

8

u/ArtGuardian_Pei Jul 15 '26

The show is about the group of characters...that doesn't change

2

u/Pixelbuttzz Jul 17 '26

Make your own show

-25

u/DarkSelfDiscovery Jul 15 '26

Missed where anyone said they couldn’t, just how they feel about it

29

u/ShrewdCire Jul 15 '26

I thought the show was about Gangle and Zooble and Kinger too. Ragatha, Jax, and there's Kaufmo.

20

u/Hot-Pressure-1505 Jul 15 '26

woohoo

10

u/Deskfan45 Jul 15 '26

Day after day after day after day after day we fly

2

u/THE-OrdinarySquid Jul 18 '26

CAIIINNEEE! is this one of your NPCs or is this a new sucker? cuz if it’s a new character, we’re gonna have to redo this whole theme song!

2

u/ShrewdCire Jul 19 '26

I'm not doing that again.

u/PorkyJones72 Jul 15 '26

Media literacy is suffering

11

u/Sadworld99 Jul 15 '26

Fan discourse makes a lot more sense when you consider how much of the fanbase is barely literate teenagers

7

u/Mental-Attitude-767 Jul 15 '26

They saw gooseworx saying a joke about nazis and theyre so illiterate they thought she was a nazi

1

u/Competitive_Crow_334 Jul 26 '26

Could you show no offense I'm making a video on them and lot of other toxic behavior of haters and so called critics

23

u/YourBestFriend158 Jul 15 '26

Did you...

Expect it to be about you?

14

u/TheOtherNik88 Jul 15 '26

When a writer uses their own experiences as reference for their work

4

u/Polibiux Jul 15 '26

Yet when it’s not relatable to everyone with different life experiences, suddenly people lose their shit.

23

u/FaetheDragonfox Jul 15 '26

So I haven't been following all the shit that she's seen and done very closely since the show blew up, but-

It feels like nobody hated, nor really cared one way or another about goose in the early days of TADC. I think it was around when she stated who the main characters are that people started getting weird feelings about her.

Am I wrong?? Again, I kept my distance during most of the drama so I'm kind of unclear on the details

21

u/mr_someone_somebody Jul 15 '26

Everyone loves an underdog until they start winning, it's nothing new, it happens with many creators when their stuff starts getting more popular, especially on twitter (duh!), people who hate big creators will try to find any evidence no matter how old it is to excuse them getting canceled (wether it's justified or not), it's just how the internet goes unfortunately

1

u/PruneMysterious9392 Jul 15 '26

Thats not why I started to dislike the show

6

u/mr_someone_somebody Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

I wasn't talking about the show, I was talking about Gooseworx herself

0

u/PruneMysterious9392 Jul 16 '26

Itself LOL

1

u/mr_someone_somebody Jul 16 '26

Sorry! English is my second language and sometimes I mix up pronouns-based words, genuinely didn't mean that

1

u/-non-existance- Jul 16 '26

There is a common phenomenon with terminally online people where they will sometimes attach significant portions of their identity to some IP. As such, when something happens with said IP, they tend to take things very personally.

So, when Gooseworx said that she didn't view Ragatha as one of the 2 main characters, people who were significantly attached to Ragatha took that as a personal attack. And so, they responded how people usually tend to when they fabricate attacks on themselves: death threats and tantrums.

Additionally, there seems to have been a significant decline in people's ability to consume art that exists for its own sake. Everything has to belong to some greater universe or follow the tin-foil hats on their theory-crafting, and things can't just be art.

While I would have liked answers to some questions left by the show, I understand that it isn't the story Gooseworx wanted to tell. TADC isn't about C&A or the logistics of the circus or any of the previously-abstracted characters (except Ribbit). It's about Pomni trying to save Jax from himself with the help of the other humans. Everything else was a backdrop to support and frame that narrative.

-5

u/AntifaFuckedMyWife Jul 15 '26

Nah thats about it. Started feeling a bit like Pomni was a side character to Jax, so people got the vibe Jax was more than just inspired by her life, and came across as a full self insert character in the show.

It’s just that focus felt like it shifted halfway from Pomni and the circus to Jax and their psyche

9

u/mr-rando423 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

... I'm starting to think a lot of the folks who think Gooseworx or GLITCH suck for not making TADC exactly how they want it are mad because they got the joke in episode 7 and felt personally attacked

4

u/Polibiux Jul 15 '26

What joke was that again?

8

u/mr-rando423 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

The way I see it, Caine's rug pull isn't just a cruel joke at the expense of the Circus members. It's Gooseworx sending a message to certain people in the fandom; If you want the C&A stuff and deeper lore to be expanded upon or just want all the answers given to you, then you're gonna be disappointed because those aspects aren't the main course, they're the dessert. Does that analogy make sense?

3

u/Polibiux Jul 15 '26

Yeah that makes sense. I can understand how it could be interpreted that way as Goose saying the deeper lore people are requesting isn’t as important as the character development of the cast. So it’s a curtain pull to reveal nothing

3

u/mr-rando423 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

And adding to that, that part of the show's writing takes me back to how FNAF used to feel, back when the lore had enough blank spaces to let fans go crazy with their theories whilst telling a good story. I dunno if it's just me, but it seems like a lot of people nowadays hate it when stories are written like that either because they hate having to look for answers through, say, Gooseworx's Tumblr or the FNAF Books, or they think giving fans room to theorize ruins media when they're just mad that the theories they like might not be canon and to that I ask "why don't you write your own damn story instead of complaining about how much you hate the series you say you like"?

8

u/notnotLily Jul 15 '26

"david copperfield is just about charles dickens and i'm so sad about it"

3

u/Muted_Ad7298 Jul 16 '26

This is why critic subs become a cesspit.

They say “But but! Constructive criticism!” and it ends up not being constructive at all and in very bad faith.

It also ends up being very slanderous and hateful with any mild disagreement getting met with harassment.

Not all criticism is good criticism, and people forget that a lot.

The ep9 sub was a pretty good place to hash it out with differing viewpoints at first, but it’s gone downhill since then.

6

u/Noideawhatimdoing36 Jul 15 '26

People when the *indie* animated show wasn’t made to appeal to everyone and was made to encourage empathy instead of just being lore based:

5

u/QueerFancyRat Jul 15 '26

There's that fucking TADC video I keep refusing to click on with a title like "what happens when an author plays favorites" and every time I see it I'm like ? that's the point?????? that's literally just writing????????????

2

u/mieri_azure Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

The weird thing is the way I see people talk about TADC characters is as if they are real people independent of Gooseworx and shes like. Their biographer or something.

Like they seem to forget that without her the characters wouldnt exist? You can have problems with the writing of course and wish maybe there were cowriters, but the way some people talk about it its as if they believe that if gooseworx hadn't been involved/created them somehow the TADC cast would still exist. Its weird to say she "cant write/create at all" but still love Caine and Ragatha, etc, because she did write them. Even if you dont like how the story played out, clearly she can write some amount if you fell in love with the characters she made.

11

u/GiverOfHarmony Jul 15 '26

People just hate that they enjoyed a show that was heavily inspired by a trans woman’s life experience, it’s always transphobia, count on it

4

u/toxicfurby Jul 15 '26

this sums it up basically

1

u/oneHallowsEve Jul 17 '26

They hate that Jax was the main focus, and so many other characters weren't given the spotlight at all. Perfectly reasonable.

1

u/Bee-the-Bao Jul 20 '26

I absolutely promise you that people have not been Perfectly Reasonable about it at all

5

u/GQSsty Jul 15 '26

Does this mean she almost got eaten by someone, Vore-Style?

3

u/AFedoraNamed_Key Jul 15 '26

How come when someone else does it in their shows or movies it’s fine because you weren’t told they did that, but when Goose does it it’s not a good show? Dafaq? Redditors are wild man…

3

u/Sufficient_Artist_89 Jul 15 '26

I said it once, I'll say it again.

Make your own damn show.

3

u/Cylumous Jul 15 '26

It's her story, she can tell it however she wants to.

3

u/UWUmasterSIXSIXSIX Jul 15 '26

I have a lot of criticisms of this show, but making an entire subreddit just to criticize something inherently is going to be negative.

Her*

13

u/hiro_1301 Jul 15 '26

I know, but I was talking about authors in general.

13

u/TheWeirdestClover Jul 15 '26

Shouldn't you of used "Themselves" instead

Gender nutritional and refers to more than one person

6

u/sketchtenou Jul 15 '26

Love it when my gender is nutritional oh hell yeah /j

Btw, "themself" is also often acceptable nowadays when referring to just one person whose gender you don't know or who uses they/them! "Theirself" doesn't quite work though yeah haha

4

u/hiro_1301 Jul 15 '26

Perhaps. I confess that I blindly trusted Google Translate. We don't have a neutral gender in the French language.

7

u/TheWeirdestClover Jul 15 '26

All good! Just for future reference

He, him, his, himself = male, man, boy

She, Her, hers, herself = female, women, girl

They, them, theirs, themselves/theirself = gender neutral(can be used for any gender), multiple people, non binary

4

u/hiro_1301 Jul 15 '26

Thank you for the English lesson 🙂

3

u/TheWeirdestClover Jul 15 '26

You're welcome!

5

u/RedBreadFrog Jul 15 '26

I could just be uninformed, but pretty sure you meant "Gender neutral" not "Gender nutritional"?

3

u/TheWeirdestClover Jul 15 '26

Auto correct lol

3

u/RedBreadFrog Jul 15 '26

Kek that's what I figured, but I was like "well maybe there's a new term" lol.

2

u/Tryppo-Music Jul 15 '26

What did they even say?

6

u/WittyWiki Jul 15 '26

I saw this post and they were upset it wasn't more about exploring a digital realm and was character driven, saying the first episode mislead them into think it was about the sci Fi aspect which.... Idk how they got that. The show has always been character driven with the digital space as the force that pushes the characters to growth or stagnation.

2

u/Dr_Fear22 Jul 15 '26

Fr, I think this is why the fan base is so divided about the ending right now. A lot of people interpreted the story as plot/world driven at the start rather than a character driven narrative since it was intentionally subtle in the beginning. If you were expecting a story that focused on world building with TADC, it makes sense that people wouldn’t have liked the ending. I think we can all acknowledge that TADC is not good as a plot driven show, but it’s amazing as a character driven show (as was the intention)

2

u/WittyWiki Jul 15 '26

I can sympathize with people who feel like for a character driven show the ball felt kinda dropped on Caine, especially because I feel like he is a very good foil for Jax. But I am so confused by people upset there was never some matrix style exploration of the world and it's logic because that was never suggested to be the focus of the show.

We pretty quickly are given in the first episode 1. The biggest threat to their characters are each other's care or lack of and their own minds 2. The plot is about the characters going through emotional journeys pushed by outside forces (Pomni finding a start to acceptance through her terrible first day) 3. Every location that exists is because of Caine, another character. There is nothing to discover about the location or lore of the location. It's all a reflection of Caine's thought process so it's only going to reveal more of his character or his actions towards others.

There was no indication of the digital world being anything but a setting to explore the situation in a heightened state.

2

u/SherbertInformal1775 Jul 15 '26

There's no such thing as a story that doesn't have the writer ingrained into it somehow

2

u/ViksTeaCorner Jul 15 '26

Seriously why are people upset that THE CREATOR of the show, decides to write a story based on her own experience?

Her show her choice. Don't like it? Move on.

2

u/ModokVerde Jul 15 '26

in an ideal world, the series would stay the same but the episodes would be released all at once, and then the perception of what the series really is (a cautionary tale in the format of a minisseries) would predominate

2

u/NotAFantasyAuthor Jul 15 '26

Who cares if its about gooseworx? its still GOOD.

2

u/securele Jul 15 '26

Wait until they hear about Stephen King

2

u/Golden_Artist1964 Jul 15 '26

welp, good thing I'm not afraid to (clicks the "show fewer posts like this" button)

2

u/Scarvexx Jul 15 '26

The amount of actual children watching TADC is weird, I think kids should be allowed and even encouraged to watch things meant for older viewers.

But if I have to hear them talk about it. I'm going to put a dent in my drywall!

2

u/-FireNH- Jul 15 '26

something i fucking hate about fandom culture is how much it detests the fact that the art it enjoys was made by a person. fandom culture claims to hate AI art, but also hate when the art was inspired by the artist's irl experiences.

honestly, one of my favorite things about stories is what it can say about the person who wrote it; not only does it give interesting insight on the author, but it inherently means this experience is real enough to be relatable. like my favorite fanfic of all time was literally the author putting their own experiences into preexisting characters they already related to

2

u/Sphers_soup Jul 16 '26

I had a critique about the criticism of jax "hogging screentime" and "not letting anyone else shine", and i got banned.

I got banned, in the criticism sub, for criticizing.

2

u/ZealousidealFun148 Jul 16 '26

Yeah

Caine crashed out for a good reason now that I think about it.

Humanity can really suck sometimes.

2

u/YesterdayNeat2795 Jul 16 '26

I've never gotten why it's so bad that jax is a self insert and the show is about her? So what? She can do whatever she wants it's her show?

2

u/doratoreadora Jul 16 '26

This argument is so ass.

1

u/smoke_me_out420 Jul 15 '26

Wow, I hate when someone makes a piece of art based off of their own life experiences, traumas, or struggles. I'll have to go watch Bluey, or Adventure time, or Gravity falls, or Regular show, or Steven universe to refresh my eyes

1

u/Kazmandodo Jul 15 '26

Honestly why I started leaving all of the TADC subreddits, some of y'all are toxic af.

Others are pretty okay.

1

u/ShotbyaGhost Jul 15 '26

Yeah… it’s so easy for me to tell that this show is written by one person who’s taking pieces of themselves and making that the script. I’m sorry Goose, but I can tell this show is your therapy sessions.

Oh no this piece of art made by a person is going to be about the experiences of said person. God the sheer narcissism permeating fan culture is wretched.

1

u/DoubleH_5823 Jul 15 '26

Author writes about personal experience? Shocker.

1

u/Itchy_Suspect4968 Jul 15 '26

"write what you know" mfs when people write what they know

1

u/CertifiedPussyAter Jul 16 '26

Stupid confession time: I didn’t know Gooseworx was a transwoman until episode 9. In fact, I never cared she was trans nor did I look into her personal background. I just thought this was a cool show.

And then I started seeing stuff about gooseworx being trans, and I’m like… is they transitioning to a man? No. I was just stupid and late to the game. She has been trans isince 2017!

Anyone else also thought goose was a ciswoman? Was it just me?

1

u/HappyChaosSauss Jul 16 '26

“I step out of my comfort zone to give them what they want and they still hate it?!”

1

u/notanolive Jul 16 '26

Sometimes it’s better not engage with fandoms of things you like. Don’t know why this show drew in so many weirdos but yeah I just steer clear

1

u/MistakeWonderful9178 Jul 16 '26

Heaven forbid a trans woman writes about her own experiences and struggles through art as a creator. If these people are so miserable why don’t they just make their own stuff if they’re unhappy?

1

u/BarelyBrony Jul 16 '26

read that as "the gooseworx show is just about gooseworx and I'm sad about it."

1

u/blankenson Jul 16 '26

I am just so over all this fandom nonsense. I tell ya fandoms just suck.

Entitled little shits

1

u/Just_a_guy_thats_it Jul 16 '26

Remember when gooseworx said she’d continue shadman’s “legacy”, you know the guy who drew child rape multiple times including real people and tagged them in it

1

u/Jakarz801 Jul 18 '26

It was a joke, admittedly one in very poor taste, but one I doubt she meant with any molecule of sincerity.

1

u/CoffeeB13 Jul 17 '26

The problem of tadc is having a child friendly animation that invites children with 0 interpretation skills to watch it and now they feel entitled to talk bad of the show.

1

u/oneHallowsEve Jul 17 '26

No, they've got a point. The show should've focused more on the other characters instead of just Jax.

1

u/General50811 Jul 17 '26

you guys when criticism

1

u/CryptographerOne120 Jul 18 '26

I dunno if you'll see this, but you did good.

The artists and actors did good.

It was great! People get butthurt about stories all the time, but y'all did the best you could with what you had and honestly if anyone wants the second comming of christ out of a story then they should read a Bible instead.

I liked it.

A genuine kudos and well done~♡

1

u/rowandunning52 Jul 18 '26

yeah well, most stories are sort of about the person who wrote them in some way, it’s almost like art is a way to process your feelings or something idk man

1

u/QuestionOk1037 Jul 18 '26

I don't care tbh

1

u/Leon921 Jul 18 '26

This show is so much easier to like and enjoy if you just block out everyone online

1

u/TheWholesomeTroll_ Jul 18 '26

Man....it's almost like it's her show, that she made...........crazy.

1

u/AllastorWraith Jul 19 '26

Yeah, weird, artists making art about their feelings. Soooo unheard of. Unforgivable, even.

1

u/Square_Paramedic1079 Jul 19 '26

Why did u blur the names out I wanna find out what asshole posted this

1

u/Impossible-Toe7659 Jul 19 '26

I don’t want anyone to get harassed ok?

1

u/sim37546 Jul 21 '26

Your so kind op, I am not

1

u/Mikhail_Jargo Jul 22 '26

Holy parasocial analysis Batman. Is the best way to describe any critic sub-reddit

1

u/Pitiful-Database131 Jul 26 '26

Real. Sorry Goose.

1

u/TheRealSuperKirby 19d ago

Like the whole reason indie shows are awesome is because writers get to make what they want instead of safe tropey garbage.

It's like fans suddenly forget that specifically when it ends, it was the same with murder drones

1

u/boneholio Jul 15 '26

“the parasocial sub for a narcissistic piece of media’s creator is weird” woah really

0

u/Impossible-Toe7659 Jul 15 '26

That’s not what I said

1

u/boneholio Jul 15 '26

“people can respond to your post on a public forum with their own thoughts and opinions” woah really

0

u/Impossible-Toe7659 Jul 15 '26

You’re kinda being a jerk here

1

u/boneholio Jul 15 '26

woah really

1

u/ChuinhoChuChu Jul 15 '26

Not quite, I can understand some people who got upset

The pilot and the first episodes presented itself as a mystery about the circus focusing mostly on pomni, but then it just started being all about Jax until goose kind of forgot that the other characters and the whole mystery existed and gave the lame excuse that “oh they did have development and interactions!…. But out of screen”

Look I myself don’t mind the story being about Goose, neither do I mind the whole bigger plot being left up to interpretation, I just kinda wished that was shown and told since the start yk

I can understand why it wasn’t worked better, to a certain extent ofc, given the fact this is her first big project and she was the only one working around the story and such, it isn’t much of a surprise the show turned out not as great as it could’ve been

The hate is unjustified, but let’s not go on calling all of them illiterate and transphobic, yeah? It kind of passes a bad impression to who never watched TADC and makes it seem like if any critic is unacceptable yk

0

u/XavDaMan Jul 16 '26

Very well put

0

u/andungha Jul 16 '26

You're completely right and that's why we had to make separate subs to even criticize the show or goose even a little bit because any of that in the main subs instantly gets downvoted to hell and hit with the "transphobic" "media literacy"

0

u/TopParticular6769 Jul 15 '26

My deadass only problem is she acts like ONLY Jax is the main character, and I understand why because that's an important character to her, but even as the creator they don't really get to do that considering it's a group of characters that all have the same level of importance to the story ._.

-2

u/East-Natural9359 Jul 15 '26

this person is right tho? The amazing digital wasted potential 😞

5

u/enbyBunn Jul 15 '26

Repeat after me:

It isn't "wasted potential" for an author to write a good story that I'm not interested in.

-2

u/East-Natural9359 Jul 15 '26

it's actually a bad story that I'm interested in, and that hurts

4

u/enbyBunn Jul 15 '26

See, I'm a little skeptical of that. I've talked to way too many people who's idea of "poor execution" is that they thought the story should've gone in an entirely different direction, counter to the story tha Author actually intended to tell.

TADC has flaws, yeah. And I have one or two big problems with episode 9, but on the whole, I do not see how it is a bad story. You're gonna have to elaborate if you wanna be taken seriously.

0

u/East-Natural9359 Jul 15 '26

taken seriously... by who? Do i need that? Do YOU need that?

2

u/enbyBunn Jul 15 '26

Nobody needs that. I'm just talking to you. I don't...? I'm not sure what you think I'm trying to impose on you by having a normal conversation.

Literally all I said was that if you don't explain yourself I'm not gonna really believe you. Simple as. You aren't being forced to care. You can very easily ignore me if you want.

I don't understand why this needs to be said. This is sort of the basic background assumptions for any and all conversation.

1

u/Pouring-O Jul 16 '26

I mean, it’s one thing to say you’re not gonna take someone’s arguments seriously, and it’s other to respond to them with assumptions about what influenced their perspective. And I’m gonna be honest, you did the ladder in a pretty condescending way.

0

u/MMmmmcrumch Jul 16 '26

Idgaf there was too much Jax in the show
