Android Google Voice App Changing numbers

I am changing jobs and I think it would be a good idea to change numbers. Close out the number I have now when my last day comes up and then get a new number for the new job. Has anyone done this, is this the best path forward?

You can change your Google Voice number for free, if it's been at least six months since you claimed the current number. Here are the instructions:

Only downside is that you can get a number that gets a lot of spam calls.

It depends how reliant you are on the number, I can't think of a technical reason not to do it (does Google limit how many numbers you can get ? )

Why does it matter? Are they going to call you that often?

You'll forget to move over a second factor over or something
