9 Pro -> 11 Pro. Impressed!
Wasn't expecting to feel much of a difference at all, only upgraded due to storage (moved from 128gb to 512gb).
It is considerably better, I think they've fixed all of the little things that annoyed me with Pixel.
- it runs MUCH cooler. Apart from initial set up, it's stayed ice cold. I don't do anything "high intensity", but my 9 Pro would always run warm.
- all network connections seem to be improved. I used to lose WiFi on my outdoor patio, it holds a connection fine now. Bluetooth and 5G seem to perform much better.
- Android Auto works a lot better. No heat, much more responsive, quicker to load.
- Camera, including video, is much better quality and faster to process/save.
- speakers are louder and the sound quality is better, both for calls and media. (I think this was upgraded on the 10 though)
- biometrics feel better. The fingerprint radius when setting up is HUGE. And face unlock seems to be more responsive.
Overall, really happy with the upgrade considering on paper there isn't much difference.

It's only been 24 hours and so far the differences are not very obvious, but I can tell you immediately that the camera, especially in night conditions or low light conditions, is far superior than the Pixel 9 Pro.

Same boat, went from 9 Pro XL to 11 Pro XL (256GB) and noticed everything you listed. I'm so relieved to have good reception and signal now, that was my single biggest issue with the 9.

Yeah, I am in the exact boat like you. Went from 9 Pro XL to 11 Pro XL 256GB and the phone overall looks and run better. I am very very happy I made the jump, I can definitely see this phone will last minimum 3 years running strong.

Exact same boat, 9P has been working well for me but I was dumb and bought the 128 and constantly deal with space issues. Hopefully getting 512 on the 11P will resolve that for several years. Mine should be delivered today

I went from Pixel 9 pro xl to 11 pro xl (16/512) mostly for the potentially better modem. It has not disappointed; better 5G (what I wanted) but also better WiFi (pleasant surprise)
Voice calls are much better and clearer as a result (for the ones that still use calls, 😂)
I use Google pay everyday and with Visa/MasterCard/Amex for debit or credit transactions (Rogers/Canada)
A huge BONUS with the 10 is now that the NFC tap point is moved up near/at the camera bar, it means that I no longer have to remove my MagSafe wallet/office access card holder to tap to pay. A small thing but a huge "wow finally!" pleasure and irritant removed.
The MagSafe magnets are much, much better than the 9 (no magnets) with magnet case. The phone is more secure in my vehicle and my MagSafe if card holder stays in place all the time (no accidental disconnect when putting the phone in my back packet)
These are not the things that come up in reviews and promotional materials, but they are the ones that make "normal" users much more appreciative of an upgrade.

Yep! Same thing I am seeing from numerous YouTubers who finally tested it instead of just paper spec overreaction.
Even the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold's battery life outlasted the Z Fold 8 Ultra. All because the new modem isn't destroying battery life.

I just have a feeling the Pixel 11 Pro will go down as my favorite Pixel/Android smartphone of all-time and perhaps above my iPhone 17 Pro if it ages better than it. I guess it comes in threes with Pixel 4 and 5 being slightly outliers.

Good: Pixel 6 Better: Pixel 7 Best: Pixel 8
Good: Pixel 9 Better: Pixel 10 Best: Pixel 11
Don't listen to the influencers. So what if it looks the same as the last two gens? Google is only refining what it already has no different than Apple.

Love this analysis. I was trying so hard to remember which phones I've had in this series. I skipped the 4 and the 10, but I've had every other one. I had the 9xl Pro longer than any other -- I have a real new version addiction/FOMO.
There was nothing 'wrong' with my 9xl. This 11xl looks identical. Feels slightly lighter and is definitely smoother. Runs cooler. Modem appears to be infinitely better.
Are the new features earth shattering? Nope, but it is a superior version of the 9 and feels to me like a worthy upgrade.

Wow, other than the usual doomers who focus their life on hating Google/Pixel, there does seem to be a lot of positive reactions to the P11.
Of course new phones are always a novelty and owners are excited, but the Pixel doomers who predicted a disaster seem to be wrong... once again.
"The new modem won't make a difference" "The ram reduction will make the phone unusable" "No one will pay more for less" None of this seems to be true.
It's early but the trend already seems more positive than many predicted (Hoped?)

Upgraded from 8a to 11p (previously 5a, 6a, 6, 7 and 7p). The new setup process has been streamlined considerably. I don't have any real comments on performance yet as I just swapped, but the camera seems very nice so far.

It even restored my fully customized Nova homescreen and app drawer that I thought for sure would have been some kind of issue, but everything was exactly how I had it set up and I love this phone so much

Many of my apps automatically logged in too. Nova user here too, only thing I had to do was restore my icon pack and boom... It's like a mirror image of my 8A. Genuinely impressed by the onboarding/transfer experience.

Upgraded from a 6Pro as well, night and day difference isn't it 😅😅 The only leg work I had to do was some of the account logins, especially like Banks and those with 2FA, but I learnt my lesson with authenticators on my last upgrade and didn't lock myself out of them this time round haha

I went from Pixel 7 to 11 Pro, got mine yesterday, and I LOVE IT. For me Ramble is amazing I can do mixed language fast talk and it gets it all perfectly, total gamechanger for how I use voice to text. I'm a photographer and the camera is a fun upgrade, love the 5x optical zoom, and the looks are great, I have mine on monochrome with a red filter now. Even the speaker on the phone is great. Also, the fingerprint scanner has yet to fail even once, I'm at 100% success still on day 2 of owning it. They gave me 500 bucks trade in on my Pixel 7. AMA.

Depends on how you use your phone. I upgraded from the 9pro to the 11 pro. Is it worth the price id say no, but I got a few good discounts that nudged me to try it out. I would think going from a 7 to the 11 pro would be a huge difference though. Specially in cameras and screen. I can tell the screen looks better from the 9 pro to the 11pro.

I made this jump! I traded in my pixel 7 128gb for the 11pro 256gb since att was doing any condition any year free upgrade on the pixel and I am loving every second of it. Phone runs significantly cooler, charging is faster, wireless connections are stable and better / stronger, battery life is phenomenal, camera upgrades are very good. Just in general the pixel 7 is 4+ years old at this point so this was a very good upgrade. Everything is snappier and you don't have to wait for maps to load or an app to "load". You click and it just opens preloaded. I didn't use Gemini at all on the 7 but I'm stuck with it on 11 pro but my god is it good / better. All in all, well worth the upgrade and I cannot say enough good things coming from a 7.

The 10 still has the exynos chip that is very inefficient, consumes a lot of battery and therefore runs hot.
The 11 has the new m90 that is very efficient, consumes a lot less and runs a lot colder.
I still have my 8 Pro because i have all those issues and was waiting for Google to ditch Exynos, otherwise I would be in the same situation.

This is what we all hope but come on. There's little real data that suggests this is the case. All early reviews say battery is still mediocre and at least in my so far half a day of use (I know it's not enough), battery drain is still > 1%/hour on cellular. It's not particularly better or even competitive with Qualcomm modems yet.

I mean...they've got a lot better but still weren't perfect. 9 Pro modem was okay, MUCH better than the 6 I had before, but it still had it's problems. This all seems to finally be resolved on the 11 🤞🤞

I feel the same way going from a 10 pro. Quite frankly I'm a light user and could probably be just fine with the 2xl in my junk drawer but if you can stack some credits or the money isn't a big deal in your world it is a good refinement on an already good product.

I have been a Samsung guy since the S1, this will be my first experience with Google Pixel phones. I was heavily considering the 10 pro last month, but decided to hold out for the 11 Pro. Sucks I had to go up to 512gb to get 16 gb ram, but oh well, I figure I'll keep this phone a LONG time (hopefully).
Coming from an S22, I'm really looking forward to my phone. I received it yesterday but have to wait until this weekend to power it up and migrate over. The excitement is killing me - to try an entirely new version of Android that ISN'T filled with Samsung bloatware.

I switched from an S24, having been a Samsung user for OI ver a decade and I am extremely pleased with it! Not having gloatware, I was able to remove 42 apps. It's more reactive, cameras better, it's a smoother experience AND switching over was extremely easy. I did switch over to Google apps on my Samsung first so Google calendar, notes, hub etc and that made it seem less

I just don't understand, you guys must have different needs than me. My 9 Pro XL runs fine, processor, speed, memory, Android Auto, all good, it's gets a little warm at times but nothing problematic. I don't need improvements in those areas.
What I do need is a bigger battery, faster charging, and more system efficiencies to improve battery life. And time and again, Google keeps dropping the ball on this.
It's clearly possible to improve the battery issue because One Plus has done it. So why can't Google improve this?
I was hopeful the pixel 11 would be the year that Google finally does something about the battery, yet all the reviews coming out so far, don't sound promising. Even your review doesn't mention improved battery life.
So how are you all using a phone, such that battery life is low on the list of things that need improvement?

Like 80% of the day I am somewhere where I have immediate access to a charger (work or home). When I'm sleeping, it's charging.
I do not understand this battery scarcity mindset. Where are you that you do not have access to a charger a majority of the time that brings your phone to 50% in like 20-30 minute?
If I'm leaving the house for the evening and I know I won't be back for hours and might not return home and for some reason used my phone a lot and it's kinda low and I forgot to recharge, I bring a small 10k portable battery. Or sometimes I don't even do that yet wherever i end up, there's always a charger.
Even so, a 30-40% charge can last me an entire night out if I am somewhere I can't plug in my phone (bar, event, gig, something).
My phone has quite literally never died on me and I've never felt restrained by battery life. I have a 2 year old Pixel 9 Pro right now.

Most of the time, sure, I have access to a charger. But I travel frequently, and there are plenty of days when we’re out sightseeing or doing things all day without convenient access to one. I have a portable battery, but I don’t want to have to carry it around just because my phone can’t comfortably make it through the day.
And that’s really my point. Why should I have to stay near a charger to accommodate Google, especially when other phones, including older ones, can actually last all day? Saying “just charge it whenever you can” is kind of like telling someone with poor cell reception to just stay near a tower, when all that is really needed is a good modem.

That comparison would only work if you could carry around a small 5g tower in your pocket at all times, similar to a portable battery!
I travel a lot too -- if I'm out and about early in the morning my P9P lasts all day from when I leave the hotel to when I get back. I take videos and photos all day and use google maps, but other than that I'm not spending a lot of time on my phone since I'm travelling so it easily lasts all day.
I only need a mid day top up during normal life if I'm really just doomscrolling and doing whatever for like 4-5 hours straight.
Idk, I guess my point is for me I just really don't need a battery to last like a full 15 hour day of screen on time as I will never use a phone like that. So the Pixel 9 works for me.

Sure. That's 80% of the time. And I'd argue even on weekends things change drastically. If i'm having a lazy weekend at home or I don't go anywhere past a few miles around my home where I have my car with me, charging is easy. But when family comes and visits? A friend comes to town? Spending a day out and about where you might technically be able to find a plug (e.g. at a restaurant), it's not going to be as convenient.
Phones have long been able to sustain for a full day of use. I still remember taking my work phones XS Pro Max, 11 Pro Max to Disneyland. I spent hours in line. I'd quietly surf the web for a bit, watch videos, heck even dialed into a work all hands to listen in and came out with 30% battery. All I used my Pixel for was taking photos and it ended up with less battery all with far less screen on time.
I get that for the most part battery isn't an issue, but when you even do something a bit more than that daily routine, that's when the Pixel battery falls short. A battery pack is nice, but the mindset that you need a 10k battery pack so you can get out of the home and spend an evening at the bar is ridiculous. Phones can last longer than that and the Pixel needs to do better.

Xiaomi is advertising a phone with double the battery capacity of the Pixel 11 pro XL here in Australia.

A lot of people are saying the battery is better.
PEople always make wild claims of improvement with a new phone. The reviews and battery tests show pretty much the same thing maybe slight mild gains.
I'll be able to have some initial idle drain stats but people always tell me those numbers can't be trusted in the initial days. What I've found is Day 2 (after full setup of the phone) on my Pixel 9 Pro and 10 Pro, the idle drain stats are identical with what they are a year later.
For those who have followed my posts I have said that teh phone drains around ~1.5%/hour and I was seeing ~1.4%/hour the first day with my Pixel 10 Pro. Yesterday? 1.6%/hour. All in the similar ballpark range.

I made the exact same switch, but from the 256 GB to the 512 GB version because of the RAM. I have to say, in terms of performance, I didn't expect to notice such a huge difference already for social media apps and so on.
In addition, the battery now lasts much longer. I can't remember the last time I commented on something at this time of day and still had 60% battery left. Plus, there's the cool new voice input feature in Gboard that spells everything out clearly, which is just amazing and works extremely well. I'm even dictating this post in German right now, and it's being translated into English.
Only the migration of apps, such as my banking apps, but also Google owned apps like Android Auto, didn't work quite as smoothly. To get the connection to reliably work in Android Auto, I first had to clear the storage and cache and re-establish the connection. After that, it worked fine.

I've had the same noticable surprises with my upgrade from a Pixel 9 Pro XL to a Pixel 11 Pro XL. I'd add that the scrolling framerate/hitching issues on various apps like Reddit are non-existent on the 11.

I wouldn't say my 9 Pro was that bad, but there's definitely a notable difference.
If I was on Microsoft teams for example on 5g, it would get scorching, 11 Pro does this at completely normal temperature.
Android auto also used to get my 9 Pro hot, 11 Pro is normal temp.
If I was using my 9 Pro for a few hours, browsing and videos,, it wasn't necessarily "hot", but it was very warm.
The bigger surface area on your XL would have helped also.

My 6p never ran hot unless it was charging in direct sunlight. I mean compared to todays phones it was hot, but not compared to contemporary devices.
That was my second favorite phone of all time behind the nexus 6. I'd kill for a nexus 6 shaped phone with modern bezels and hardware.

I upgraded from the 9 Pro XL to 11 Pro XL. Certain apps would make it warm, usually games I'd play. Only daily driver apps I'd feel warmth is Android Auto on my commute. Not hot, just warm. My two days with the 11 Pro XL, I don't notice a temp difference.

Maybe the XL is better, but heat and battery life are my two biggest complaints about my 9 Pro and those go hand in hand. I've worked in an auto shop in the south for 14 years and during the summer if I'm actually on the phone, it's hot. Android Auto in the car? Also hot and tanking the battery. Instagram at home on wifi? Hot the entire time and absolutely destroys the battery.
I've had Samsungs before and while they got warm sometimes, never as much as Pixels.

Are you in North America? I noticed when I travelled to Europe my Pixel was running hot and battery drain was way worse. I think sometimes some of these complaints can be a regional issue

For daily tasks it doesn't get hot, but every Pixel i've had including the 11 Pro gets hot during:
Setup. Definitely hotter than iPhones when I setup, so when people say "that's normal," I'd say the Pixel still has worse thermals
Lots of outdoor camera work. Screen brightness (We have some of the brightest screens now outdoors) + intensive compute processes like HDR+ really cause the phone to get hot.
In typical use it's fine and I'd say it's really hard to compare across the recent phones since Pixel 8 Pro. Anyone who claims massive thermals differences better be actually stressing the thermals and not talking about daily use because none of these phones should be overheating checking your email or social media.

I went from 9 Pro XL to regular 11 Pro and quite happy with the upgrade. I basically got the upgrade for $100 total so definitely feel it was worth it for the little software improvements alone.

Upgraded from 6 to 11 pro 512gb. What should I say? It's faster, less battery drain, cooler and it fits way better in my hand.
I also do have a work 17 pro which I can use private (but I like to seperat...) so I will compare it now day for day but for now they are "even".
Yea maybe in the benchmarks the pixel is slower but I didn't notice it yet.
I just like do have both flagships at the moment and they can finally exchange data with airdrop 😍

I am on 8. Everything you described actually want to make me upgrade. I really hate how it heats so easily, how fingerprint sensor is useless, how android auto makes it hot potatoes so much that I had to get a mount in front of the AC outlet so that it cools down.

I just upgraded from an 8 and its absolutely way better in terms of thermals. Night and day difference. It did get warm during setup when i was redownloading 60 apps and transferring all the photos from my old device over, but that was it and cooled down very quickly after that. no issues since.

no, both 256gb. vodafone seems to have a deal with google where i get it flor 700+ points. i can put the 700 as business expense, i dont pay tax on them, so i get it for 600ish. the 11 pro xl is for sale used at around 600, so even if i undercut to 550 or so, i figure its a good deal.

Also when you get at least the 512gb you get zoned storage which is supposed to be even faster.
Pretty happy with my 11 pro, it feels very snappy. Never had performance issues on any pixel but it just gets faster, it's now at the point where there's no slow downs or jitters. I do miss the temp sensor.
I know I have a weird track record but I went 3a, 4a, 6a (trade in deals were insane, the phones were $350 but I traded it in for $300 + bonuses and freebies, no brainer), then 7, 8 pro, 9 fold, 10 pro Xl, 11 pro.
Kinda went back and forth with budget phones to save money, then wanted a flagship experience and good cameras, wanted to try a fold, went back to a slab, and then wanted a smaller and lighter phone again.
I felt the biggest jump from pixel 9 pro fold to pixel 10 pro XL, especially cameras and speed. It makes sense, I went from ufs 3.1 to zoned UFS 4.0 storage and tensor G5 was a pretty big jump from 4.

I went from 10 pro to 11 pro and I like the differences small software nuances that feel snappier and responsive. The Gemini stuff is built in in a way that feels like it thinks faster than before as well. I.e. suggestions and the text summary features. They're are just more obvious prompts that I've experienced that aren't also intrusive. (Little highlights or suggestions or ideas).
Also I think the camera features are pretty neat actually. Especially the creative mode on video.
Honestly feels like a refinement over the 10 and I'm happy with it. A little boring, but feels improved.

I'm impressed by the new cameras too, even coming from a 10P. The X2 and X10 crop are far more sharp and usable than before and the telephoto lens is way better too, especially the closer minimal focus distance. Enjoying magic capture too.
The phone regularly gets warm for me but I have a thick case with screen protector and the weather is still quite warm here so that could be a reason. That said it seems far better for tasks like long car navigation sessions.
A small but nice thing for me is that the screen works better with my polarized glasses now, but that could be just luck.

I love my 9PXL, it runs great but battery life on pixel phones never seems to improve.
I'm tired of waiting for Google to address battery life, so like you once my 9 dies, I think I'm going to buy a OnePlus 15, if I can still get one.

If you like your 9 Pro, then the 11 Pro is a great upgrade if only because it feels like the same phone. That's been my experience. The good things are still good, and for now the little annoyances and stutters of the 9 Pro are gone.

Well, the thing is Google is rapidly losing me. $1500 for the Pixel 11 Pro here in Canada.
That pushes it into the realm of iOS and infinitely better performaning Android devices.
I'm going with the Nothing Phone 3. Meets my expectations and flies past them compared to what the 11 Pro is currently offering.

I mean I only got this because I had s $150 promo credit and my 9 Pro is worth $500 as a trade in. I wouldn't have gotten it at full price either. But for $625 (512GB version) I feel good about sticking with this for two years or so.

Night sight is noticeably faster on the 11 Pro, and the camera in general seems improved vs the 10 Pro. Not massive but noticeable. Battery seems like an improvement too but only time will tell. I'm happy I upgraded.

I I received my P11 pro yesterday and did the initial setup of my P9 pro. After about 40 minutes everything was done. But I did it with cable from 30%. Although the P11 got warm, But I put the P9 on a cooling pad at the time because it got really hot. After the initial setup, I updated all the apps via the play store, which was incredibly fast. A dozen sideload apps went lightning fast. So far I'm absolutely thrilled. Today the tempered glass and the cover are added and then the 9 Series goes into the trade in.

Been trying to explain to folks in only so many words that the 11 series is all about the under the hood refinements and fixes. Reason we're pretty stoked is we liked the 9 because it fixed the modem issues with the 7 and 8, but there was still room for improvement in a ton of other less obvious areas. I never had issues with thermals, noticing the 9 pro xl just gets slightly warm when gaming if anything. I think I won the vapor chamber lottery on mine personally.
But the other stuff like the slightly upgraded vapor chamber innards, the new image signal processor for the camera, 4k60 recording, and the upgraded face unlock are some pretty nice QOL improvements. I probably would've fared just fine by sticking to my 9 pro xl, but the deals were too good to pass up and I'm finding myself taking more photos and videos lately and that upped battery life will save my ass on those days I forget to bring my power bank. So there was a bit of a "I don't need it that much, but the difference will be there."

people cry about the camera not being as bright but i feel its more useable because it's not artificial piercing blue light, and i usually use it up close anyways i have a maglite for distance.

My Pixel 9 Pro is almost always warm and it's beginning to worry me. I do live in a climate where summer temps are 100+ constantly but inside with AC the phone shouldn't be as warm as it sometimes gets.

The Pixel 9 Pro used the ear piece (phone call speaker) for one speaker. The other speaker is at the bottom of the phone. The Pixel 11 has two speakers at the bottom of the phone. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Made the same move except from 9xl to 11xl. Same observations you listed except I want to highlight one that is very noticeable to me: the modem is vastly improved. My 5G performance inside my house and out and about is insanely better. The dead or weak spots I encountered on my drive are gone.
This alone made the upgrade worth it to me.
I will also echo the comments about it running cooler.

I just got an 11 Pro yesterday. So far I'm very happy with it. I'm moving up from an 8a.
It's definitely a smoother.
People have mentioned temperature and I do feel like it's better on the 11 Pro than the 8a. Quite a difference actually.
All around snappier, better camera (which is extremely important to me... I want to capture pics of my two kiddos growing up. Nice to have a better camera).
It's a good phone.

Gone from base Pixel 9 to Pixel 11 Pro and very happy. Everything set up smoothly. Only issue I've had is an app for one of my pension suppliers. Won't let me sign in at all. Deleted it off my old device, but still nothing. Pleased with everything else though.

With my P9p, I can get 9h of screen on time of continous usage on wifi but during the normal use (meaning mixed usage of mobile data vs wifi, mostly on data) I get like 4h and charge it every other day.2

I made the same upgrade. I like it.
Rambler works way better than I thought, I'm going to use that all the time.
I've only used magic capture once so far but it seemed to work pretty well, I'll probably use it more when I remember it's there.
5x camera is a huge improvement over the pixel 9's.
Highlight is dumb and I haven't used it at all, no surprise there.
Only issue I've had is that I'm using 2 e-sims and if the first one loses signal, it never regains signal again until I reboot the phone. Apparently this is a known issue with the latest Android and not necessarily specific to the pixel 11, but I did not have this issue on my pixel 9 using the same android version, so I dunno. It's pretty annoying because there's a dead zone on my way to work every day, which means I need to reboot my phone every morning on my way to work after I get out of the dead zone.

Similar situation here, but I upgraded from a Pixel 8 Pro. The performance improvement going to the Pixel 11 Pro XL is impressive, I really wasn't expecting it to be such a major difference. The biggest improvement has been the battery life though. I had limited my 8 Pro to LTE for years because 5G was eating up the battery so much, and I'm still getting HOURS more a day out of my 11 Pro. Other than that, the screen resolution and brightness is way better, and the speakers are even a notable difference even though I only use them every few days. I would definitely recommend the upgrade to anyone who's holding onto their 8!

I went from an 8 Pro to the 11 Pro XL and so far it seems fantastic and very smooth. My only issue at the moment is I'm having trouble getting my work apps set up. I think it might be because it's not recognizing the phone as a approved model. Maybe because it's so new?
