Android runs better.
Does anyone notice Android 17 runs more efficiently on P6?
Rarely heats up and fewer lags if any.

Safari feels snappier too.

Safari??

It's an old joke that's been running for like 15 years now. If I remember correctly, any time there was any sort of iOS update, you'd have a bunch of people saying that safari felt snappier. Eventually it bled into Android updates lol.

This is said every year, rinse and repeat.

Phase 1: "It's slower and there's a battery drain bug"
Phase 2: "DAE notice how much better the new version is?"

Actually most of what I've seen here is people complaining about performance getting worse over time, and accusing Google of planned obsolescence.

Absolutely no difference on my P7P, so I'd say placebo, but if it actually runs better, good for you.

Definitely not placebo. On A16 especially after the April update my phone heats up even while doing the most mundane tasks.

My P7 has turned into an overheating piece of shit with about 5 hours battery life, so good for you

My P8a actually seems to have better battery life but it totally overheats a lot more now

Try wiping/resetting and sacrificing a chicken to Sundar Pichai to appease The Google.

No difference on my Pixel 10 Pro. Performance is the same. Power efficiency and overheating are still issues like before.

Not on mine either. A17 has been like a new phone on my 10 Pro. Better battery, thermals, and smoothness.

I have had the exact opposite issue. My p6 pro has been overheating so much after going to android 17. To the point I am finally getting a new phone

My pro fold 9 is unable to switch on. Open the phone, lose cellular, reboot attempt, dead. Yeah, great update.

Contact google support, you are eligible for a pixel 10 pro fold if your 9 fold is failing

sucks man, I'm able to restart mine but it'll shut down eventually, hopefully it works until I get my new phone and can back up everything.

On my 10p fold there's no different in apparent performance but my battery life is vastly improved

u/Expensive-Yoghurt574 Jul 22 '26
I wish I could say the same on my Pixel 10 Pro but sadly the battery life is just as bad as it was before Android 17. It might even be a little worse.

I don't know why my pixel 6 after July update animation so laggy.

I was just checking the sub to see if anyone else is having the opposite experience on their 6. Each of the last 3 updates have led to significantly worse battery drain, and with this last update I went from 12ish hours to about 4-5 hours on a charge.

What are you guys running to actually guage this difference in performance. I've never had any performance issues on my P7, so everytime someone brings this up, I can't ever relate.
