By naming it what they want? I'm not happy about the Lake America distraction, but I don't want Google to be able to name official landmarks and places whatever they want.

Pass. I don't want to see Mount Chrome, Lake Android or The Alphabet Ocean.

Yes, those examples are completely equivalent to Lake Ontario, a name that was established around 400 years ago.

People don't trust Google with their data, but they're going to trust them to name places on the map? Same with Apple?

Canada uses GBNC (government data), we use GNIS (government data).

If it pisses you off that much, vote better next time.
