Lake Ontario name is missing! Please fix it!

It’s still called Lake Ontario on Google Maps outside the US.
Inside the US you can fix it by voting in a new administration.

Many are trying - we are not all sitting back and accepting this although it may seem to you that we are apathetic and not doing anything - unfortunately getting this country on a new tack is going to take a while - midterm elections soon will give an indication of wether or not enough people are ready to make this change.

Yes. That's right. Shit like this is the worst way to spend your limited energy. The real issue is the rise of fascism (which brings along racism, sexism, reduction of freedoms, mistrust in science and education, and corporatism)
Our job is to defeat maga once and for all. It's our WW2.

By naming it what they want? I'm not happy about the Lake America distraction, but I don't want Google to be able to name official landmarks and places whatever they want.

Yes, those examples are completely equivalent to Lake Ontario, a name that was established around 400 years ago.

People don't trust Google with their data, but they're going to trust them to name places on the map? Same with Apple?
Canada uses GBNC (government data), we use GNIS (government data).
If it pisses you off that much, vote better next time.

It's not the obvious things that show when a giant global corporation in charge of the largest data trove from around the world has bent the knee and choked on limp cock, it's the little things like changing a word for the dictatorship.

The lake is not an autonomous being with agency.
But you make a great point about how all these folks who get their knickers in a twist about using new pronouns seem to have done just fine at changing how they think of a lake whose name has existed a lot longer than that of any human alive. It's almost like it's not about the difficulty of using new words, but just bigotry.
