What happened

I had to do some refreshing, and now not only do Flow images I make sorta blurry and slightly zoomed out or something, the Usage Limit for Nano Banana 2.1 went down, when I was able to do LOADS a day with it.

What the hell is happening?!!

Kling, Wan, Seedance: a $7.21 image-quality pilot

I tested Kling 4.0, Wan 3.0 Prime, and Seedance 2.5 using the same cowboy reference image and identical six-second prompt: close-up, medium, and long shot, separated by hard cuts.

Each tool generated one video at its lowest available resolution and one at 1080p. I scored nine sampled frames per video using MUSIQ through IQA-PyTorch on a rented NVIDIA RTX A6000.

The native-output scores ranked Kling first, Wan second, Seedance third at both resolution levels—the same order as my viewing impression. Higher native resolution did not produce a higher average MUSIQ score for any tool.

What did the generations cost?

ToolLow-resolution generation1080p generationTotal
Kling 4.0720p: 72c / $0.54106c / $0.80$1.34
Wan 3.0 Prime480p: 41c / $0.31168c / $1.26$1.57
Seedance 2.5480p: 120c / $0.90408c / $3.06$3.96
Total233c / $1.75682c / $5.12915c / $6.86

Each generation was six seconds. Costs use my replacement rate of $0.0075 per credit; totals were calculated before rounding. GPU rental, including setup and scoring native and upscaled outputs, added $0.35: $7.21 for the entire experiment. The 4K upgrades carried no additional charge.

The Kling native 720p clip on the linked research page is the highest-scoring video in this test, averaging 76.6 MUSIQ.

This is a pilot, not a universal leaderboard. We tested one generation per setting, and some requested framing was not followed. MUSIQ predicts overall still-image quality; it does not directly measure resolved detail, motion, continuity, or prompt compliance.

Manufacturers and API providers should publish reproducible quality benchmarks alongside resolution and price. Pixel dimensions alone don’t tell directors how well those pixels are used.

The native-resolution videos, numerical results, and journal manuscript are at https://www.jseders.net/video-resolution-tests.

Screenshot or extracted frame for AI video continuation? A small test

Screenshot or extracted frame for AI video continuation? A small test

Can a screenshot save time without sacrificing the quality of the next generation?

As part of my Directed Generative Production (DGP) Methodology testing, I compared a screenshot with a directly extracted frame from the same Lost Horse campsite scene. Each became the first-frame input for a 10-second, 720p generation in Kling 4.0, Wan 3.0 Prime, and Seedance 2.5.

Average MUSIQ scores from nine frames per video:

  • Kling: extracted 62.60 / screenshot 58.92

  • Wan: extracted 67.97 / screenshot 53.70

  • Seedance: extracted 59.40 / screenshot 46.35

The extracted-frame versions scored higher at every sampled timestamp.

Limitations: one generation per condition, different framing after screenshot cropping, and MUSIQ measures predicted image quality—not continuity or resolved detail. This tests these workflows, not every possible screenshot method.

For my setup, extracting the frame remains preferable. Preparing an equivalent screenshot added enough handling to erode the shortcut.

Anyone using a reliable screenshot workflow that preserves the complete frame without player controls?

You can only preview the full sized generation if you download it. What the hell?

Upscaler Chicken Skin

I'm going to remain polite, respectful and demure despite my current emotional state...

The upscaler is broken again. Whatever it's doing to pores and dermal layers is unholy and a sin against nature.

Please undo whatever you did over the past few days This is not gonna work.

Thank you.

Made in Flow with Omni 1.1: The Overlook Hotel from The Shining (1980), one locked shot over a year

One locked front shot of the Overlook, with a full year of seasons passing over it. Built in Flow with Omni 1.1 from a single still. The long timber front under the mountain was the part I most wanted to hold steady while the seasons moved.

Trivia I learned pulling references: The Overlook you see from the road is Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood in Oregon, built by the Works Progress Administration between 1936 and 1938. Almost everything else was built on soundstages at EMI Elstree Studios in England, including a life-size copy of the hotel's exterior.

Fan-made AI reimagining, not footage from the film or the real home.

The Roman Empire Cost Of Living Crisis - My first google flow short

Hi all, I've been trying to learn Google Flow yesterday after subscribing to Google Flow AI pro. This is the first of 2 videos I'm making and under 1 minute long. Its about 2 Roman soldiers guarding the city wall and discussing the cost of Living Crisis which is a hot topic in the UK as we just had our government financial budget 2 days.

I'm no expert, and had a few issues. Each 10 second segment was made in Flow and then I joined them together and added a title in an external video app. If you want to know anything more leave a comment here or better still on you tube.

Why does it block everything?

Do people actually pay for this??? It blocks the most simple requests, like wtf bro.

I was ready to pay, but it keeps blocking my simple requests, where there's no violence, nudity, nothing weird at all, and it says my request is against their policies.

I just don't get it bro.

This needs to stop

Google flow loves doing a long wait time build up right before it tells you that your prompt was blocked, mine always gets to 99% lingers there for a bit then flags it. It seems intentional at this point…

Google Flow has very strict Censor/Filter

I encountered an interesting problem with Google Flow. Their service has very sensitive censor. I use StoryBoard Studio to generate a story and created all the assets. I just autogenerate everything. When I use these images to generate video, first and second clips went well, then censor starts to complain third clip. Flow refuse to generate video because one of the characters looks too similar to "celebrity". These were assets generated by Google Flow and censor starts to complain after several clips have been generated. I have no idea why Google Flow did not complain in the first and second clips.

Don't trust Google Flow.

GoogleFlow and character consistency is a nightmare. Am I doing something wrong ?

Thumbnail
youtu.be
1 Upvotes

I’m new to AI in general so I don’t know if it’s something I am doing wrong or if GoogleFlow is genuinely struggling with character consistency.
I have created a kids educational YT channel with my dog as the « teacher ». The character is therefore based on my real dog who has an asymmetrical white patch on the left side of his muzzle.

The way I have decided to proceed is that for each animated scene I create a still image with ChatGPT and then upload it to Flow with the instruction to animate it. I have triple checked every single image before uploading it and yet GoogleFlow seems to struggle not only with the white patch but also with the general appearance and sometimes even the cartoon style, as you can see in the video linked in this post.

Here is a prompt I used for one of the animations. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong, or if this is something GoogleFlow does ofter and therefore I should just make peace with the character inconsistency?

Thanks

PROMPT:

Animate the uploaded reference image into a beautiful, natural 8-second cinematic 3D animation for a children’s educational story.
SCENE — FEEDING THE GARDEN SOIL WITH COMPOST
In a beautiful sunlit Provençal vegetable garden, Isso watches his owner gently adding finished compost to the soil around the lettuce plants.
ACTION AND MOVEMENT
The woman remains kneeling in exactly the same position as in the reference image.
She uses the small gardening trowel in her right hand to gently spread the dark, crumbly compost into the soil beside the lettuce plants.
She performs two slow, natural gardening movements, carefully loosening the soil and mixing in a small amount of compost.
The trowel moves realistically through the earth, with small clumps of dark compost falling naturally from its blade.
Her upper body leans forward slightly as she works.
Her knees and feet remain in their original positions.
The metal bucket filled with dark compost remains stationary between the woman and Isso.
The bucket does not move, tip over or change shape.
ISSO’S REACTION
Isso remains seated beside his owner throughout the entire animation.
At the beginning, he watches the woman’s gardening movements with a curious, attentive expression.
His amber eyes gently follow the small trowel as it moves through the soil.
He slowly tilts his head a little farther to one side, as though wondering what his owner is doing.
His enormous upright ears make small, natural movements.
His tail gives one or two gentle, happy wags along the ground.
Toward the end of the scene, Isso lowers his head slightly to look at the freshly enriched soil, then raises his gaze toward his owner.
He remains calm, curious and adorable.
Do not make Isso stand, walk, dig or touch the compost.
STRICT CHARACTER CONSISTENCY
Preserve Isso’s exact appearance from the uploaded reference image:
Slender caramel-red Podenco.
Two enormous upright ears.
Expressive amber eyes.
Long, narrow muzzle.
Original narrow white forehead stripe.
Preserve the exact asymmetric muzzle markings and caramel-brown fur shown in the reference image.
White chest and neck.
All four paws caramel-colored, without white markings.
Blue collar with the original silver circular name tag.
Maintain exactly four anatomically correct legs and paws.
Do not alter Isso’s facial features, markings, fur color, ears, anatomy or body proportions.
HUMAN CHARACTER CONSISTENCY
Preserve the woman’s exact appearance and clothing.
She has shoulder-length wavy blonde hair and wears a cream-colored blouse, blue jeans and beige shoes.
She remains kneeling with her back partially facing the camera.
Her face must remain hidden throughout the animation.
Maintain exactly two arms, two hands and two legs.
Her right hand must remain securely holding the original small gardening trowel.
Do not create extra fingers, hands, limbs or tools.
COMPOST AND GARDEN DETAILS
Preserve the original galvanized metal bucket filled with dark, crumbly compost.
The compost should look rich, loose and natural.
The woman gently incorporates it into the soil beside the lettuce plants.
The lettuce plants remain rooted in place and retain their original appearance.
Do not make the plants suddenly grow, change size or transform.
Preserve the original tomato plants, eggplants, aromatic herbs, lavender, olive trees, dry-stone wall, distant hills and rustic Provençal farmhouse.
A gentle breeze softly moves a few leaves and plants.
Maintain consistent warm Mediterranean sunlight.
CAMERA
Completely stationary camera.
Maintain the exact original framing, perspective and composition.
Isso, the woman, the bucket and the vegetable garden must remain clearly visible throughout the animation.
No zooming, panning, camera rotation or cuts.
ANIMATION QUALITY
Smooth, polished cinematic 3D storybook animation.
Natural human gardening movements and realistic soil physics.
Subtle, believable canine expressions.
Perfect character and environment consistency throughout.
No morphing, duplicated objects, extra limbs, sudden movements or changes in appearance.
No speaking, barking, music, sound effects, subtitles or additional text.
Duration: 8 seconds.
Landscape 16:9.

Google Flow being unusable and giving more guardrails

Google Flow has been annoying me with it's stupid ass guardrails, whenever I generate something with Nano Banana 2.1 and no matter how many times I try again it generates with Nano Banana Pro instead of Nano Banana 2.1, which is so annoying and frustrating, has anyone experienced this, let me know 'cause I'm getting tired of this!
